Mana Revival: Starting by Sacrificing the Campus Belle!

Chapter 70: Chapter 63: Breaking the Demon Beast’s Defenses

The churning river surged, its waters rushing for what seemed like a thousand miles.

A streak of red light shot across the surface of the great river, rapidly moving toward the opposite bank.

It was Kajimi, carrying Fang Xiu.

”Master, the Demon Beast in the water is picking up speed!”

As Kajimi accelerated, the Demon Beast in the water also sped up significantly.

”Mm, don’t worry. Just keep moving at your pace. I refuse to believe this thing won’t show itself!”

Fang Xiu smiled calmly.

He didn’t know what kind of creature the Demon Beast in the water was, but he knew it was Level 30, and its Demon Core might contain a Skill.

Such a thing was incredibly valuable.

If Fang Xiu wanted this Demon Beast, he had to get it to surface.

After all, Fang Xiu was a Sacrificial Master; fighting in the water was not to his advantage.

And while Kajimi was powerful, entering the water would also be quite dangerous.

Who knew if there were other Demon Beasts lurking in the depths?

That left... only one option: lure it out.

The Demon Beast’s target was the two of them.

Fang Xiu could use this to his advantage, acting as bait to draw out the beast.

Whenever he sped up, the Demon Beast in the water would also accelerate.

It was worried he would escape.

So Fang Xiu had Kajimi increase their speed just a little, but not too much.

He was baiting the Demon Beast in the water to strike.

After all, if the beast didn’t want its prey to escape, there would come a point when it couldn’t hold back any longer.

The moment it appeared above the surface, Kajimi could kill it in an instant.

”Here it comes!”

Just then, as they continued to gradually increase their speed, the Demon Beast in the water finally couldn’t restrain itself.

If it waited any longer, its prey would be gone.

This was the moment to hunt.

BANG!

The instant the word left Kajimi’s mouth, a massive shadow leaped directly from the water.

Fang Xiu could now clearly see what the creature in the water was.

It was an aquatic Demon Beast that looked something like a tilapia.

However, its body was over three meters long.

When it leaped into the air, its mouth gaped open to a width of over two meters.

Fang Xiu hadn’t expected the fish to have such a huge appetite.

It was actually trying to swallow him whole.

’No, it’s trying to swallow both me and Kajimi!’

”Chain Whip!”

As the giant tilapia-like beast leaped from the water, Kajimi instantly activated her Skill.

Countless chains shot out from the water, locking the large fish in place.

No matter how the great fish struggled, it couldn’t break free from the chains that held it Entangled in mid-air.

”Kajimi, that Skill of yours is really strong!”

Fang Xiu watched as Kajimi’s chains held the Demon Beast before them completely rigid, suspended in the air.

’This means the chains aren’t just flexible; they can be controlled.’

”Thank you for the praise, Master!”

Kajimi nodded. ”The Chain Whip can change its form according to my will.”

Kajimi explained.

Just then, the trapped fish began to emit a purple glow.

Then, electricity began to arc across Kajimi’s chains.

”Is this... a Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin?”

At that moment, Fang Xiu finally recognized the giant ”tilapia.”

That’s right, it wasn’t a fish at all. It was a dolphin—a Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin, to be exact. Its English name was...

”A Thunder Element?”

Fang Xiu watched the struggling Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin.

He smiled faintly and said, ”Then let’s see whose Thunder is stronger!”

”Netherworld Thunder Fall!”

As he spoke, Fang Xiu immediately used the Skill. Since Kajimi was still carrying him in flight, it was inconvenient to use Rotating Storm, so he had to use another Skill.

RUMBLE!

At that moment, a great roar echoed from the overcast sky.

Immediately after, countless bolts of Thunder rained down from above.

The instant the black Thunder appeared, Fang Xiu could clearly feel the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin’s struggles intensifying.

’This... It seems a Thunder Element Demon Beast has a better understanding of Thunder!’

After a moment’s thought, Fang Xiu understood.

A Thunder Element Demon Beast’s Perception of Thunder was far keener than that of other Demon Beasts.

Naturally, it would have a better grasp of the immense power contained within his black Thunder.

The Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin’s reaction made that much clear.

’Looks like I’m going to win!’

Since the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin was already showing fear, it meant that his Thunder was definitely far stronger than the dolphin’s own electricity.

At the very least, the creature had sensed the danger.

That was why it was struggling so frantically.

But no matter how it struggled, the Chain Whip was Kajimi’s Skill.

Although Fang Xiu didn’t know Kajimi’s specific Level—it wasn’t displayed, only showing data like [Rank: One]—the fact that she could so easily restrain a Level 30 Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin suggested her Level was at least higher than Level 35.

Kajimi herself wasn’t too sure about this.

She had only mentioned that, to her Perception, this Demon Beast felt ”a bit weak.”

’That’s what you call power!’

So, the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin’s idea of using its electrical charge to break Kajimi’s chains was a bit naive.

Just then, another burst of light erupted from the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin’s body.

As the light appeared, its electrical charge grew noticeably stronger.

’This must be the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin’s second Skill. Something to Enhance its electrical output?’

Fang Xiu watched as the Demon Beast’s electrical charge seemed to grow even more powerful.

A Level 30 Demon Beast possessed three Skills.

The Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin had already used two of them. Fang Xiu was curious what its third Skill might be.

”Hm?”

Just as Fang Xiu was wondering about the dolphin’s third Skill, he saw the scales on its body begin to emit waves of purple light.

’Is this... a Defense Skill?’

When this happened, Fang Xiu found it interesting.

The Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin’s three Skills were Electric Current, Enhance, and a Defense skill.

In the water, this thing was definitely a Boss Level existence.

An ordinary Level 30 Human Awakener, even one of the Water Element, would surely be unable to defeat this Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin in the water.

After all, not only were its Attack methods unique, but water conducts electricity. Who could possibly withstand that?

And that wasn’t even its greatest strength; it could also increase its Defense.

A Demon Beast this powerful was simply not something an ordinary Level 30 Awakener could handle.

’I hope my Thunder can pierce through that Defense!’

Fang Xiu’s Netherworld Thunder Fall was an incredibly formidable Skill.

But he was only Level 12.

Killing a Level 30 Demon Beast would be quite difficult.

This was especially true for a fellow Thunder Element beast, which would be harder to deal with using Thunder than a Demon Beast of another element.

Most importantly, the creature also had a Defense skill.

”Break through it!”

Fang Xiu barked.

As his voice rang out, the black Thunder in the sky seemed to answer his call.

It descended directly from the sky toward the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin.

BOOM!

BOOM!!

BOOM!!!

A series of thunderclaps echoed.

The bolts landed squarely on the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin.

As the black Thunder fell, the light radiating from the dolphin’s body grew even more brilliant.

’I hope this Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin gives me a satisfying Skill!’

Fang Xiu had his eye on the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin’s Thunder-amplifying Skill.

If his third Skill was this kind of Thunder-amplification ability, he could use it to further increase the power of his second Skill, Netherworld Thunder Fall.

From his observations just now, the dolphin’s amplification could enhance Thunder power by at least 30%.

This might not have been a huge boost for the dolphin’s own first Skill, but if it could directly amplify the power of his Netherworld Thunder Fall by 30%, then for Fang Xiu, that Skill would become even more unstoppable.

He probably could have one-shotted the previous Vermilion-haired Ape.

But acquiring such a Skill was completely a matter of luck.

Fang Xiu had no control over it.

Never mind the fact that the resulting Skill could be the dolphin’s first Skill, Electric Current, or its third Skill, Defense.

Whether a Demon Core with a Skill appeared at all was a matter of pure chance.

RUMBLE!

As the black Thunder continued to fall, Fang Xiu could see the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin struggling even more violently.

”The fish’s skill doesn’t get stronger passing through your Chain Whip, but my Netherworld Thunder Fall clearly becomes more powerful when it goes through your chains!”

Fang Xiu had noticed that his Netherworld Thunder Fall seemed to become even stronger when combined with Kajimi’s Chain Whip.

”Because you’re the master!”

Kajimi replied, her gaze fixed on the black Thunder in the sky.

’Because I’m the master?’

Fang Xiu nodded slightly.

’Perhaps this is the legendary ”party” bonus!’

It felt a bit like something out of an online game, but it was known that the Skills of two familiar Awakened could synergize.

Of course, this was mostly theoretical. While it had happened in reality, such cases were extremely rare.

It usually only occurred between parents and their children, or among siblings who shared a blood relationship.

But now, Fang Xiu had discovered another way to achieve this synergy: a contract.

He and Kajimi were bound by a contract.

It was only natural that their Skills could synergize!

”Its Defense is broken!”

Kajimi shouted excitedly.

Fang Xiu looked over.

Sure enough, as the relentless Thunder descended, his Netherworld Thunder Fall had actually broken through the Demon Beast’s Defense.

BOOM!

As one bolt of black Thunder shattered the Sky-Filling Fine Electric Dolphin’s Defense, more bolts descended, blasting the creature until its flesh was torn and battered.

With the ”teammate bonus” from Kajimi, the power of Fang Xiu’s Skill was even greater.

Otherwise, breaking through its Defense would have been truly difficult.

At this moment, anticipation gleamed in Fang Xiu’s eyes.

’Demon Core, Skill!’

’The Skill I want!’

’Come on! Demon Core!’
