Mana Revival: Starting by Sacrificing the Campus Belle!

Chapter 60: Chapter 56: After All, It’s the First Time

The group searched inside the cave for a little while.

Then, Fang Xiu heard an excited shout.

”Found it!”

Less than five minutes had passed, and the treasure was already found.

Fang Xiu hurried over to take a look.

After all, this treasure belonged to him.

But when Fang Xiu ran over and saw it, he was stunned for a moment.

”This... is the treasure?”

Fang Xiu hadn’t expected the treasure to be something like this.

Looking at the chest in front of him, Fang Xiu was completely taken aback.

’Could this so-called treasure have been left behind by someone from the past?’

”Yes, this is the treasure!”

Yuan Heng walked over just then. Hearing Fang Xiu’s question, he nodded slightly.

The chest before them was the treasure they had been talking about.

”This chest... Couldn’t the person who sold the clue just open it, then put it back together? Or just toss in some worthless stuff to trick people?”

Fang Xiu voiced the doubt in his mind.

’This chest doesn’t even look like it’s locked!’

’But even if it were locked, taking the stuff out and putting on a new lock would be a simple matter, wouldn’t it?’

’Why would anyone spend a fortune to buy a clue for this kind of so-called treasure?’

”This... This Treasure Chest can’t be closed once it’s opened!”

Yuan Heng hadn’t expected Fang Xiu not to even know this.

Now he truly believed that Fang Xiu had only just gone through his Awakening not long ago.

He not only didn’t know about the website for the Awakened, but he was also unaware of this kind of common knowledge among them.

”Once opened, it can’t be closed?”

Fang Xiu’s brow furrowed slightly.

’What... what kind of rule is that?’

”Mhm, these Treasure Chests exist within the Gate Worlds. We don’t know if they’re man-made or what. In any case, some Treasure Chests will appear in every Gate World.”

Yuan Heng explained to Fang Xiu, ”These Treasure Chests might contain some really great stuff, or they might just have some common materials, herbs, and the like. What you get is all up to luck.”

”But all these Treasure Chests share one characteristic: once opened, they can never be closed again. At least, no one has managed to close one yet!”

Yuan Heng explained this with great conviction.

Fang Xiu was very surprised to hear this.

’Isn’t... isn’t this just like the Treasure Chests in an online game?’

’But why would a place like this in the real world have something like that?’

At this point, Fang Xiu wasn’t even sure if he had transmigrated into an online game world or an era of universal Awakening.

For a strange rule like the one for Treasure Chests to appear in the real world was simply too bizarre.

”So, should I just open it?”

Fang Xiu was a little uncertain.

’After all, this is my first time!’

”Mhm, this thing is yours, so you can open it directly. But it can’t be taken away. Someone once tried to put a Treasure Chest into a Space Storage Device, but after they left the Gate World, they found it was gone.”

Yuan Heng explained once more.

”What a fascinating rule!”

Fang Xiu nodded slightly.

He didn’t really need to take the Treasure Chest away anyway.

After all, it wasn’t like Fang Xiu was planning to sell it.

’I have to open it eventually, so I might as well open it here.’

Then, Fang Xiu crouched down and looked at the simple, unremarkable Treasure Chest before him.

Without hesitating, he reached out, placed his hand on the lid of the Treasure Chest, and opened it.

Instantly, a burst of light erupted from the Treasure Chest.

It illuminated the dark cave.

”Nice special effects!”

Fang Xiu quipped.

He hadn’t been paying attention, and his eyes were suddenly blasted by a powerful beam of light in the darkness.

’That feeling... was so intense.’

”What’s this?”

Once his eyes adjusted to the light, Fang Xiu could finally see the item inside the chest clearly.

Inside was something that looked like a token.

Fang Xiu picked it up and saw a single word engraved on it: ’Skill’.

”Why is it a token?”

It wasn’t just Fang Xiu; even Yuan Heng found it a bit strange.

The things others had gotten before were always Equipment or medicine.

So how come when it was Fang Xiu’s turn, such a strange item appeared?

Fortunately, you could usually see what purpose these items served.

Fang Xiu inspected it... but there was nothing on the token at all?

’Not even a name?’

”It can’t be a city-building token, can it?”

Fang Xiu quipped.

’This isn’t a game. How could you build an entire city with just one token?’

’Besides, the word on it isn’t ’City,’ but ’Skill’...’

”Huh? Skill?”

Suddenly, Fang Xiu realized something.

’If ’City’ means a city-building token, then could ’Skill’ mean... something related to a Skill?’

But the token itself displayed no information.

”I’ve heard that if it’s something no one has seen before, we can’t inspect its information!”

Just then, Lin Huo, who was standing to the side, suddenly muttered under his breath.

Hearing this, Yuan Heng nodded. ”I’ve heard that too, but humanity has explored so many of these realms. Is it really possible no one knows what this is?”

”Perhaps... really no one has.”

Lin Huo said weakly.

He had only heard this rumor himself; it wasn’t exactly a confirmed fact.

So after Yuan Heng said that, he couldn’t help but feel a little doubtful himself.

”No one knows?”

Fang Xiu muttered.

Then he realized. ’If no one knows, what about the system?’

’System, inspect this thing. Can it be Sacrificed?’

’When in doubt, first check if it can be Sacrificed.’

’If it could, I would Sacrifice it directly, no matter what it was.’

’If it couldn’t, I would at least find out what the thing was.’

[Skill Enhancement Card: Can be used to reset an Awakened’s Skill and grant a new one. The new Skill is an upgrade based on the original, with greatly increased power. Cannot be used by Deities. If Sacrificed, you will only get beaten up!]

After reading the text displayed by the system.

Fang Xiu was slightly stunned, and the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but curl into a smile.

But he quickly concealed it.

’A Skill Enhancement Card!’

’Although this thing is at least five centimeters thick, calling it a ’card’ is definitely worth complaining about.’

But at this moment, Fang Xiu couldn’t be bothered with that.

This so-called Skill Enhancement Card could actually reset a Skill and upgrade it.

In other words, even if the third Skill Fang Xiu acquired in the future was relatively useless, he could use this Skill Enhancement Card to upgrade it.

Of course, if Fang Xiu wanted to, he could use it right now to reset his Netherworld Thunder Fall.

It would become much stronger afterward.

But using it now would be a bit of a waste.

Fang Xiu decided to wait and see.

”Looks like I’ll have to take it out of here and see if anyone recognizes it!”

Fang Xiu didn’t reveal what the item was.

It wasn’t that he was afraid of Yuan Heng and the other two coveting it.

After all, with Kajimi’s power, they wouldn’t dare try.

Fang Xiu just felt there was no need to explain so much.

Besides, if he explained it clearly, he didn’t know if he’d be taken away the moment he stepped out of the Seventh Gate World.

”Mhm!”

Yuan Heng and the other two didn’t think much of it.

After all, if it was something they didn’t recognize, Fang Xiu, who had only recently Awakened, surely wouldn’t know either.

”Master, footsteps!”

Just then, Kajimi’s voice came through!

The four of them immediately became alert!

’A Demon Beast? Or a person?’
