Mana Revival: Starting by Sacrificing the Campus Belle!

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Sacrifice What Can Be Sacrificed

Sacrificing, too, requires one to Release a skill.

And the Life Staff in Fang Xiu’s hand could speed up the Release of his skills.

”I won’t give you the chance!”

At that moment, Lu Yu’Er heard that Fang Xiu was about to act.

She let out a furious roar.

Then, a glow of light appeared on Lu Yu’Er.

It was the Spiritual Power of the Fire Element.

’What is she trying to do?’

Fang Xiu was confused.

’Just what is this Lu Yu’Er trying to do?’

[Ding! A sacrificable Source of the Fire Element has been detected. The Fire God recently lost a piece of his own Source of the Fire Element. This can be used to replace it. Sacrifice it to the Fire God, and he will surely reward you.]

Just as Fang Xiu was puzzling over this,

the system’s voice unexpectedly chimed in.

This was one of the system’s functions. It would automatically provide a reminder whenever it detected a sacrificable item that Fang Xiu was unaware of.

And that was exactly what was happening now.

Fang Xiu didn’t know what Lu Yu’Er was doing.

He could only see the glow emanating from her body and the Spiritual Power that contained the Fire Element.

’Source of the Fire Element? This Lu Yu’Er really, really wants me dead!’

Fang Xiu looked down at the Fire Array at his feet.

As Lu Yu’Er began to glow, he could clearly see the Array grow even brighter.

’She wants to use her own Source of the Fire Element to speed up the Array’s activation?’

Only then did Fang Xiu realize something.

The Array wasn’t just the section beneath his feet.

This Fire Array encompassed the entire hill.

No wonder it was worth a hundred million, yet its activation speed was so slow.

A Scroll with this kind of range was not something your average Fire Array Master could create.

A hundred million, in that case, really wasn’t expensive.

But with such a slow Release speed, escaping it didn’t seem particularly difficult.

’Looks like I’ll have to Sacrifice your Source of the Fire Element first.’

Originally, Fang Xiu had planned to Sacrifice Lu Yu’Er completely.

But now, he decided to Sacrifice the Source of the Fire Element on her first.

And then Sacrifice Lu Yu’Er herself.

”Honorable Fire God, I know you are missing a piece of the Source of the Fire Element. I have found it now, and I will Sacrifice it to you!”

As Fang Xiu spoke, he activated the skill.

The Sacrifice Skill activated, and the glow on Lu Yu’Er’s body began to dim.

’What’s happening?’

Lu Yu’Er watched as the Fire Element on her body rapidly flowed away.

At first, she thought it was all surging into the Array.

But now, it seemed that wasn’t the case.

The light from the Array had vanished as well.

”No... Don’t! Give it back!”

Only then did Lu Yu’Er realize something was terribly wrong.

She had only been using her own Source of the Fire Element to supply the Array with the Fire Element.

That was what the shopkeeper had told her when she bought it.

”The area this Array covers is huge, so its activation will be on the slower side.”

”Slow? Is there any way for me to speed it up?”

”Of course. You just need to find a Fire Element Awakener and use their Source of the Fire Element to catalyze it.”

”What is... a Source of the Fire Element?”

”Let me tell you...”

That conversation was still echoing in her ears.

Lu Yu’Er never would have imagined that her Source of the Fire Element could just disappear.

At that moment, thinking of something, she frantically raised her hand.

And then... there was nothing.

”No... No... NO!!!”

The shopkeeper’s words echoed in Lu Yu’Er’s mind.

”Remember, the Source of the Fire Element is the very root of one’s abilities. You must not use too much of it, or else...”

”Or else what?”

”Heh. If a person loses the root of their abilities, they naturally lose the abilities themselves!”

”...”

Lose the root of the ability, lose the ability...

Lose the root, lose the ability...

Lose the ability!

At that moment, Lu Yu’Er felt her ability vanish.

She couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t accept it.

Even a D Level Awakened Ability was far stronger than what most people had.

But now, her ability was gone.

Her D Level Fire Element Awakened Ability had been completely absorbed by the Array.

Lu Yu’Er had absolutely no idea that her Source of the Fire Element had been Sacrificed by Fang Xiu.

She still thought it had merely been absorbed by the Array.

Now, she was just an ordinary person.

”NO!!!”

Lu Yu’Er roared.

Meanwhile, Fang Xiu furrowed his brow slightly.

Normally, he should have received a reward right after performing the Sacrifice.

But this time, he had Sacrificed it and waited for a long time, yet nothing had happened.

Fang Xiu checked his hands, the ground, and even the sky. There was simply no reward.

’The system couldn’t have made a mistake, could it?’

Fang Xiu began to worry.

He had no idea what was going on.

If the system really had made an error, could it be that the Fire God looked down on the Source of the Fire Element he had Sacrificed?

If that was the case, it would be fine if there was no punishment. But if there was a punishment, Fang Xiu couldn’t even imagine what the consequences might be.

He had trusted the system too much.

He had believed the system was infallible.

But this time, it seemed the system had made a mistake.

[Ding! The system does not make mistakes. The Fire God’s reward has already been given to you. You simply haven’t noticed it!]

The system’s voice had appeared again, just as Fang Xiu was thinking that the Fire God might angrily inflict punishment on him.

’It’s already been given to me? What reward?’

Fang Xiu was stunned. ’The system couldn’t have made a mistake and is just making up an excuse, could it?’

After all, with the Goddess of Life’s Life Staff or the Flower God’s Flower Dew, Fang Xiu had held them right in his hands!

But he couldn’t see the Fire God’s reward at all!

[The Fire God has granted you his blessing. You have obtained the Fire Immunity skill. It is a Passive Skill at Level 1.]

The system explained.

’Fire Immunity? A Passive Skill?’

Fang Xiu hadn’t expected this at all.

’So this is how the Fire God’s reward is given?’

Just as Fang Xiu was feeling skeptical,

a data panel-like interface suddenly appeared before his eyes.

[Fang Xiu]

[Level: 10]

[Profession: Sacrificial Master (SSS)]

[Active Skill: Sacrifice]

[Passive Skills: Fire Immunity (Level 1)]

[Equipment: Life Staff (Expandable)]

It was a very simple data panel.

Fang Xiu took a look and saw that he really did have a Fire Immunity Passive Skill.

Although it was only Level 1, it looked like it could be upgraded.

Moreover, this Level 1 Fire Immunity probably only granted immunity to a certain amount of fire.

”My skill... my ability... It’s gone... It’s all gone!”

Just as Fang Xiu was feeling pleased, a voice drifted into his ears.

He looked up and saw the devastated Lu Yu’Er.

He couldn’t help but frown.

It wasn’t that he felt sorry for her.

He was just thinking...

’Crap, without her Source of the Fire Element, Lu Yu’Er is just an ordinary person now, isn’t she? Is there any point in Sacrificing her now?’

Fang Xiu felt a pang of panic.

He hadn’t thought it through earlier and just went ahead with the Sacrifice because he could.

Now that it occurred to him, could an ordinary person like Lu Yu’Er still be Sacrificed?

If she couldn’t be, hadn’t he just been penny-wise and pound-foolish?

’System, inspect Lu Yu’Er!’

Fang Xiu hastily called upon the system.

...to inspect Lu Yu’Er’s current state!
