Mana Revival: Starting by Sacrificing the Campus Belle!

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Why is This Kid a Little Unlucky?

The Gate World was immense.

All the students were randomly teleported to different locations within it.

However, knowing the peculiarities of this Gate World, the school had already made arrangements.

After scouting the area, they had designated over a hundred rally points.

Each of these hundred points was manned by a teacher.

As long as the teachers stayed near these points, they could quickly reach any student in danger, regardless of where they had been teleported.

Of course, the strongest Demon Beasts in this Gate World were only Tier Two.

Even an ordinary person could escape from a Tier Two Demon Beast for a while.

As for the Awakened, whether they had combat or life-skill Professions, their physical stamina was far superior to that of an ordinary person.

After all, upon Awakening, one gained Spiritual Power, which nourished the body and naturally improved their physical condition.

This was why the school felt confident sending students into the Gate World to train.

Right now, a Demon Beast stood before Fang Xiu.

Fang Xiu didn’t recognize what kind of Demon Beast it was.

It looked like a wolf but had ears like a rabbit.

It even hopped and skipped when it moved.

In any case, he had never seen an animal like this in the real world.

It was obviously a Demon Beast.

’It looks like a wolf but acts like a rabbit. Is it a carnivore or an herbivore?’

Fang Xiu edged closer, his curiosity piqued.

He had read the information provided beforehand. The strongest Demon Beasts in the school’s Gate World were only Tier Two.

That was equivalent to a human between Level 11 and Level 20.

The information also stated that Tier Two Demon Beasts were extremely rare in this particular Gate World, and the strongest among them were only Level 13.

That meant it wouldn’t pose much of a threat to Fang Xiu.

After all, even though he was just a Sacrificial Master, he had already reached Level 10.

Feeling reassured, Fang Xiu slowly moved toward the Demon Beast.

As he drew nearer, the Demon Beast’s features became more distinct.

Fang Xiu could see wisps of flame-shaped patterns on its fur.

However, the flames were cyan.

This was the first time he had ever seen a Demon Beast so close.

’System, if I Sacrifice this, will I get a reward?’

Suddenly, an idea occurred to Fang Xiu.

All he had to do was have the system check if a Sacrifice was possible.

That would reveal the Demon Beast’s name.

[Sacrifice the Tier Two Demon Beast, the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit, to the Deities. Minimum penalty: instant death by a divine palm strike!]

Sure enough, the system didn’t disappoint him.

The result of the Sacrifice wasn’t great, but that wasn’t the point.

He had gotten the information he wanted.

’A Tier Two Demon Beast, the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit... Who comes up with these names? It’s so long. If you used a name like that in a novel, you’d be flamed to death for padding the word count!’

Fang Xiu grumbled to himself.

But now, he was wondering if he could kill this Demon Beast.

Although Fang Xiu didn’t know what materials this kind of Demon Beast might yield, he did know that killing them earned Points.

These Points weren’t just for school; they were a universal currency, recognized nationwide and even worldwide.

Points could be exchanged for anything one desired.

Including a Space Storage Device.

As long as you had enough Points, you didn’t need anything else to make the exchange.

This system was established by a global coalition of nations, designed to incentivize the Awakened to use their abilities to hunt Demon Beasts.

It encouraged the Awakened to hunt more diligently.

And Fang Xiu was one of many Awakened drawn in by the allure of Points.

’Sacrifice seems out of the question,’

Fang Xiu was unsure what kind of Skills the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit possessed, or what its Attack patterns were.

And where was its weak spot?

This was all knowledge he was supposed to learn in college; so far, he only knew about some of the higher-Level Demon Beasts.

After all, the world was filled with countless types of Demon Beasts; it was impossible for him to remember them all.

BEEP BEEP BEEP—

Just then, a sound rang out.

It was Fang Xiu’s phone.

He glanced at the screen... It was Xia Yunmeng.

He looked up...

”Shit!”

Fang Xiu saw that the sound had attracted the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit’s attention. It was now looking right at him.

As their eyes met, he realized he was its target.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Fang Xiu hit the answer button, spun around, and bolted.

”Hello? Fang Xiu, why are you moving? Didn’t I tell you to stay put?”

Xia Yunmeng’s voice was tinged with anxiety.

She knew Fang Xiu was an SSS Level Sacrificial Master.

If he developed his full potential, he could become a crucial figure for the entire country, perhaps even the world.

That’s why, before she had even become his homeroom teacher, Xia Yunmeng had received a notice: she was to ensure Fang Xiu’s safety at all costs.

This notice hadn’t come from the school, but from a much higher authority.

”I’m being chased by a Demon Beast! Teacher, where are you?”

Fang Xiu didn’t sound particularly panicked as he answered the call.

He was confident he could escape a Tier Two Demon Beast.

”What? What kind of Demon Beast is it? Do you know?”

Hearing Fang Xiu was being chased by a Demon Beast, Xia Yunmeng asked urgently.

’How is this kid so unlucky?’

”It should be a Tier Two Demon Beast, the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit. But I don’t know its Attack patterns, Skills, or weaknesses.”

Fang Xiu glanced over his shoulder.

The Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit was indeed gaining on him.

”You really are unlucky. The Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit is one of the few Tier Two Demon Beasts in this Gate World, and it’s at Level 12.”

Xia Yunmeng sounded a bit exasperated, then continued, ”Fortunately, it doesn’t have any Skills. Its only strength is its raw Power. It has no ranged Attack, so as long as it doesn’t catch you, you’re safe. As for its weakness, it’s the forehead. Its skull is easy to crack!”

Clearly, as a teacher, Xia Yunmeng was very knowledgeable about this type of Demon Beast.

”Got it, thanks, Teacher!”

With that, Fang Xiu hung up the phone.

He didn’t give Xia Yunmeng a chance to say another word.

’The forehead? This thing’s Power is immense, and I don’t have any ranged Attacks. Looks like running is my only option!’

Fang Xiu felt helpless.

If he were a Mage, he might have been able to use a ranged Attack Skill.

Unfortunately, he was a Sacrificial Master!

When a Sacrifice wasn’t possible, his only option seemed to be running.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

A series of thuds echoed from behind Fang Xiu.

It was the sound of the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit hopping.

The creature moved just like a rabbit.

’Stones can be used as a ranged attack, right?’

As he ran, Fang Xiu scooped up a handful of stones.

Seeing the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit closing in, he didn’t hesitate to hurl a stone at it.

Unfortunately, it dodged.

But the action did slow the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit’s advance for a moment.

If this place had one thing in abundance, it was stones!

Fang Xiu kept running, throwing stones as he went.

It didn’t matter if they hit; he just kept throwing.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

But the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit’s leaps were too powerful, covering ground too quickly.

It was closing the distance to Fang Xiu with every bound.

Just then, Fang Xiu threw another stone!
