Mana Revival: Starting by Sacrificing the Campus Belle!

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Sacrifice, Sea God, a White Horse?

A minute isn’t a very long time.

But as Fang Xiu waited, it felt like an eternity.

This was his first time killing a Demon Beast.

And something had dropped from just a single kill.

Whether it was Equipment or materials, Fang Xiu was equally excited.

”It’s here!”

Just then, the light above the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit’s body dissipated.

Fang Xiu quickly looked over.

He saw a black object on the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit’s corpse.

He... had no idea what it was.

’A material, huh? And here I was hoping for some Equipment.’

Fang Xiu walked resignedly toward the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit’s corpse. Just as he reached out to pick up the black object...

The system’s voice sounded.

[Ding! Cyan Flame Crystal detected. It can be Sacrificed to the Sea God. His white steed is missing a tooth, and the Sea God has been unable to find a suitable material to replace it. Although this Cyan Flame Crystal is a Low Tier Material, it is a perfect fit. The Sea God will be pleased and will grant you a reward.]

’Sea God? A white horse? Poseidon?’

Fang Xiu didn’t know much about these Deities.

But he had heard of the Sea God, Poseidon.

Legend had it that he gave humanity its first horse, and his mount was a gold chariot pulled by white steeds.

’To think one of those white horses is actually missing a tooth.’

’And it needs such a Low Level material to fix it?’

But on second thought, maybe the Sea God had never considered that the most suitable replacement would be a Low Level Material.

So he had never tried using Low Tier Materials.

This gave Fang Xiu the perfect opportunity.

Thinking of this, Fang Xiu took out the Life Staff.

”I now Sacrifice this Cyan Flame Crystal to the Sea God. May it solve the problem with your white steed’s tooth!”

Fang Xiu chanted casually.

That’s right, extremely casually.

Sacrifice only required a chant; the actual content wasn’t that important.

Soon, the Cyan Flame Crystal in Fang Xiu’s hand was enveloped in a flash of light.

It vanished.

In its place was another item.

”What’s this?”

Fang Xiu looked at the small bottle in his hand, a little surprised.

He inspected it.

[Spiritual Bottle: A bottle containing a certain amount of Spiritual Power. When consumed after expending too much Spiritual Power, it restores 50% of the Spiritual Power consumed.]

It didn’t seem like much at first.

But thinking it over, Fang Xiu suddenly noticed a loophole. ’This thing... it doesn’t seem to have a level requirement, does it?’

In other words, right now Fang Xiu was Level 10. If his Spiritual Power was ten, and he used it all, drinking this would only restore five.

But if he were Level 100 with a hundred Spiritual Power, using it after running out would restore fifty.

Fifty is ten times more than five!

’I’ll put it away for now!’

Fang Xiu had no use for the Spiritual Bottle at the moment.

But he might need it in the future.

It was definitely right to save it.

Besides, the original item was just a Tier Two Material.

Never mind a Deity, even Fang Xiu himself didn’t think much of it.

But now, having Sacrificed it for a Spiritual Bottle, he felt it was a pretty good trade.

’I never expected the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit’s head to be so fragile, though.’

Fang Xiu examined the corpse closely.

It was clear that it had really been killed by a single rock—a Tier Two Demon Beast, dead just like that.

Then, Fang Xiu pressed a button on the left side of his watch.

A small metal sliver popped out.

Fang Xiu dabbed the sliver in the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit’s blood, then pushed it back in. A record soon appeared on the watch.

It displayed the number 2.

These were Points. Fang Xiu wasn’t sure of the principle behind it, guessing that perhaps different Demon Beasts had different DNA.

All you had to do was collect a blood sample to get Points.

And if you couldn’t get a blood sample, you could open the watch’s video recording function during the battle.

After a professional review, you could also get Points.

As for cases where one only obtained blood without making a kill, Fang Xiu had heard of such things.

But the analysis could supposedly determine whether the Demon Beast the blood belonged to was dead or alive.

What kind of technology that was, Fang Xiu had no idea.

The Point calculation was also very simple.

A Tier One Demon Beast was worth 1 Point, a Tier Two Demon Beast was worth 2 Points, a Tier Three Demon Beast was 4 Points, and so on.

In any case, the watch only recorded Points; all the loot belonged to the Awakened.

So, no one really objected to the Point values.

After all, this also gave weaker Awakened a chance to exchange for good items.

As long as they hunted enough Tier One Demon Beasts, the Points would add up, and they could eventually exchange them for what they wanted.

’Looks like it’s time to keep hunting Demon Beasts.’

Fang Xiu scanned his surroundings but saw no other Demon Beasts.

He wasn’t in a hurry, though. Perhaps Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbits were solitary creatures and had a strong sense of territory.

That would explain why there wasn’t a second one nearby.

Of course, he could probably find one if he just looked around.

Fang Xiu checked his bearings and headed left.

BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Just then, Fang Xiu’s phone rang again.

It was Xia Yunmeng.

”Hello, Teacher!”

Fang Xiu decided to answer the call.

”Fang Xiu, where are you? What’s going on with your Points?”

Xia Yunmeng’s voice was filled with astonishment.

She had been rushing over to his location.

But halfway there, she saw that Fang Xiu’s Points had changed to 2.

This meant that Fang Xiu had likely killed a Tier Two Demon Beast.

Combining that with what Fang Xiu had said earlier about the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit...

Xia Yunmeng deduced that he had probably killed the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit.

Xia Yunmeng was shocked by her own deduction.

A newly Awakened person like Fang Xiu had hunted a Level 12 Demon Beast?

No matter how she thought about it, it was just absurd!

”Teacher, how did you know?”

Instead of answering Xia Yunmeng’s question, Fang Xiu asked one of his own.

”Because your watch was issued by the school. I can see the records on my end!” Xia Yunmeng replied.

She suddenly realized what that implied. ”Wait, Fang Xiu, did you really kill the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit?”

”Teacher, I’m Level 10 now. Is it really that strange for me to kill a Tier Two Demon Beast?”

Fang Xiu said with a faint smile.

Although killing the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit had involved a bit of luck...

At least he was Level 10, and the Cyan Flame Wolf Rabbit was only Level 12.

”Oh, so that’s wh—”

Xia Yunmeng was just processing this when her voice suddenly jumped. ”What? You said you’re Level 10?”

”Yeah, Teacher. I was already Level 9 when I had my Awakening. Isn’t it normal to be Level 10 now?”

To Fang Xiu, it seemed perfectly logical.

”Nine... But it’s only been three days! Do you know how long it took me to gain my first level after my Awakening? It took an entire summer vacation!”

Xia Yunmeng said with a sense of resignation, ”And I was considered to have high Talent back then.”

’The comparison is just infuriating!’

BOOM!

Just then, Xia Yunmeng heard a loud explosion from Fang Xiu’s end of the line and quickly asked, ”Fang Xiu, what happened?”
