The Golem Mage

“I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that both of these mages facing each other are actually first-year students, how in the world are the ordinary academy disciples supposed to compete against that?”

“I attended the Bandit Academy a few years ago, and even back then, only the third or fourth-year students had reached the Tier 5 realm.”

“ And even then, it was only the exceptional ones among them who had been through life-or-death battles,” one spectator commented, reflecting on their own experiences.

“Or they have the backing of elders, which accelerates their progress faster than others, but the mages from the Great Eight Academy are definitely challenging my understanding of the strength that first-year academy students should possess,” another spectator nearby couldn’t help but add as they watched the intense battle between Cassandra and Damien.

“What do you know?

Don’t feel disheartened, as no matter what you do, the first-year students from the Great Eight Academies will never be on the same level as the ordinary academies’ first years, it is only the fourth-year students from the ordinary academies who can match them in realm,” a fellow spectator responded, addressing the first spectator’s concerns.

“Hmm, you seem to be well-informed, so, tell me, why is there such a huge disparity between the ordinary academies and the Great Eight?” the first spectator inquired.

“Well, it’s quite simple, really, when a mage from a mid- or low-tier clan awakens, they strive to enter the academies as quickly as possible to gain knowledge and resources that their clans cannot provide for them,” the informed spectator explained.

“However, the same isn’t true for members of the high-tier clans or the Ancient clans, when they discover a prodigy worthy of carrying their clan’s legacy, they spare no effort in providing the best resources to propel them even further,” the spectator continued, shedding light on the reasons behind the disparity.

“They are trained at home for a year or even longer to learn their clan’s secret techniques and spells, which are tightly linked to their clan’s heritage.”

“ Since they have ample resources to support their offspring, they don’t rush to send them to the academies,” the second spectator elaborated, diving into the deeper details of how the descendants of the top clans possess significantly greater strength than other students, even before enrolling as first-year students in the Great Eight Academies.

“I see, the game is probably rigged from the start, well, that’s not fair at all,” the first spectator commented, expressing frustration at the unequal circumstances.

“Well, that’s something we have to live with, every day, we wake up knowing that the world is unfair, but we don’t give up and we continue to fight against it, on a more serious note, I’m actually quite surprised that the War God Academy has made it this far in the competition, considering it was an academy no one really thought highly of,” the second spectator reflected.

“They have truly shown how much of a thorn they can be to the higher-ranked academies, that’s why I’m truly supporting them.”

“ Cause if you compare them to the other remaining teams, they are not only the youngest, but also the weakest, yet, they have somehow managed to persevere and make it this far, thanks to the brilliance of a certain individual,”

The second spectator further explained, highlighting the exceptional aspects of the War God Academy’s journey.

In the VIP section:

“Charles Lightbringer, it seems your academy came well-prepared, to be able to suppress Damien and keep him at a distance, it appears that the members of the Blade clan will soon be recalled.”

“ Such a child, with such a display of strength, won’t be allowed to remain outside the clan for long,” an old man with white hair and two antlers on his head remarked, addressing Charles Lightbringer.

If the deacons of the Holy Grail Academy were to find out that someone could speak so freely and casually to their Vicar General, they would undoubtedly be curious to know his secret.

However, it was the Dean of the Bloodline Academy who had dared to have such an open conversation with the Vicar General.

Only a select few individuals could converse with Charles Lightbringer in such a carefree manner, and the Dean of the Bloodline Academy was among those at the top of that list.

His ability to do so was not solely due to his position as a dean of another academy, but rather because of the daunting power he possessed, his powers simply demanded such attention wherever he went.

“What makes you think she was abandoned by the blades clan?” Charles inquired, turning to face the perplexed Dean of the Bloodline Academy, who stared back at him.

“Well, it’s quite simple, actually, Cassandra was born into one of the finest battle clans as you know and has always been extraordinary since birth.”

“ Not only did she inherit her father’s blade genes, but she also received a gift from her mother’s side,” Charles explained.

“This gift left the blade clan at a loss on how to best nurture her exceptional abilities, so they brought her to me.”

“ As one of the most esteemed light mages in the entire northern kingdom, I was entrusted with her care, that is the story,” Charles said, cutting his explanation short.

“However, I still sense that you are hiding something from me,” the Dean voiced his suspicion.

“Of course I am, all I will disclose is that Cassandra was meant to be the vice captain, the only reason she did not attain that position was because she backed down from fighting with other for that position.”

“ But your boy Damien should be thrilled to be facing a mage with the potential to be a team’s vice captain, just as he himself holds the position of Vice Captain,” Charles stated, a hint of smugness evident despite his attempt to maintain a composed expression.

“Oh, come on!

I can see right through your facade of indifference, you believe you have already won, but that’s complete nonsense.”

“ We both know that the outcome of this match won’t be determined until the final participant is standing on the stage.

Who knows which academy that participant might come from?” the Bloodline Academy Dean countered, challenging Charles’s confidence.

“Always flashing the Dragonmir’s heir card in our faces, hoping it will secure victory, I wonder if he can truly back up the numbers and emerge triumphant,” Charles remarked with a slight shake of his head.

“Oh, I promise you, Dragov never disappoints,” the Bloodline Academy Dean responded, exuding a quiet confidence in his academy’s captain.
