Peerless Medical Emperor

She knew Wu Tian was the arch-culprit of Medical God Island, but seeing his female relatives get dragged into the mess, she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. She decided to go to Chen Qingdi’s office, hoping to find a way out for these women.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door to Chen Qingdi’s office.

”Come in.” Chen Qingdi’s voice came from inside the office. Ye Shi Yi pushed the door open and saw Chen Qingdi sitting at his desk, smiling at her.

”President Chen, there’s something I need to ask you.” Ye Shi Yi walked to the desk and spoke, her head lowered.

”Oh? What is it?” Chen Qingdi put down the papers in his hand and asked, looking at Ye Shi Yi.

”I know Wu Tian is the arch-culprit of Medical God Island and he deserves to be punished. But his female relatives haven’t done anything wrong. They shouldn’t be enslaved along with him.”

Ye Shi Yi’s voice trembled slightly. She knew this request might displease Chen Qingdi.

”Do you really think these women are all that innocent?” Chen Qingdi said, frowning at Ye Shi Yi.

”When Wu Tian was the Island Master of Medical God Island, they followed him and enjoyed a life of ease and comfort. Being slaves now is their atonement for the past.”

”But that’s so unfair to them,” Ye Shi Yi couldn’t help but say.

”They haven’t done anything wrong, yet they have to be punished for what Wu Tian did.”

”Sooner or later, all debts must be paid,” Chen Qingdi said calmly. ”If you want to save them, then you need to find a way for them to work their own way out of slavery.”

Ye Shi Yi was silent for a moment. She knew Chen Qingdi’s words made sense.

But she still couldn’t accept this reality. She turned to look out the window, took a deep breath, and tried to calm her emotions.

”I understand.” Ye Shi Yi turned back to Chen Qingdi. ”I will try to get them to earn their own way out of slavery.”

Chen Qingdi nodded. He knew he couldn’t persuade Ye Shi Yi any further.

This girl was a kind person. She had her own ideas and resolve.

He could only hope she would be able to find her own way in this cruel world.

Ye Shi Yi left Chen Qingdi’s office. She knew her request was hopeless now. She walked silently down the hallway, her heart filled with helplessness and disappointment.

She didn’t know what she could do to help these women escape their status as slaves. But she knew she had to do something.

Ye Shi Yi slowly walked into the dim dungeons. The air was thick with a damp, cold, and suffocating miasma.

She took a deep breath, trying to push aside the feeling of unease.

Behind the iron bars of the cells, dozens of pairs of helpless, empty eyes stared at her. These were the women of Wu Tian’s family, now reduced to slaves.

Their clothes were tattered and filthy, their faces gaunt. They looked utterly desolate.

A pang of pain struck Ye Shi Yi’s heart. She knew these people were being crushed by life, their hope extinguished by endless suffering.

She approached the bars and looked at the women. ”I know you are the women of Wu Tian’s family,” she began, ”but if you want to escape your status as slaves, there will be a chance. You just have to work hard, without complaint and, more importantly, without thoughts of rebellion. I will have people take good care of you.”

The moment she finished speaking, the women, like enraged beasts, rushed toward her, screaming wildly.

Their eyes were filled with resentment and fury, as if they saw her as an enemy.

”Go away! We don’t need your fake pity!”

”Get lost! You’re the one who did this to us! You venomous, black-hearted woman!”

”Stop pretending to be so righteous! You bitch! We’re not going to let you off!”

Ye Shi Yi was drowned in their curses. She wanted to explain, to tell them she only wanted to help, but the women wouldn’t listen.

They had been blinded by endless suffering and only wanted to vent all their anger on her.

Suddenly, a hand shot out from the crowd, a dagger glinting coldly in the dim light.

Ye Shi Yi reacted in an instant. She dodged to the side, and with a backhanded wave of her arm, a surge of force sent the female slave sprawling to the ground.

”I won’t let you just die like this!” Ye Shi Yi shouted.

”If you don’t want to fight to change your own destiny, you’ll just keep sinking and never get back up! But if you’re willing to try, I will help you escape this place!”

However, the women seemed to have been thoroughly enraged. They charged at Ye Shi Yi recklessly, their eyes filled with crazed fury.

Ye Shi Yi had no choice but to once again raise her arms and parry all of their attacks.

”I’ll say this one more time! Do not attack me again!” Ye Shi Yi’s tone turned icy and resolute.

”I didn’t come here to bring you disaster, I came to bring you hope! If you are unwilling to accept my help, then I will leave!”

As her voice echoed through the dungeon, the women’s curses gradually subsided.

They began to slowly back away, a trace of hesitation and confusion appearing in their eyes.

Ye Shi Yi took a deep breath. She knew her words were starting to have some effect.

”Now, I hope you can all calm down.” Ye Shi Yi’s voice softened.

”I know you’ve all suffered terribly, and I know you need help. I will do everything I can to help you. As long as you’re willing to work hard and change, I’m willing to be here with you every step of the way.”

The dungeon fell silent. The women stared blankly at Ye Shi Yi, as if pondering her words.

Ye Shi Yi knew this would be a long process. She didn’t expect to see immediate results.

But she believed that as long as she persevered, these people would one day understand.

Ye Shi Yi had just left the dungeon when she received a call from Chen Qingdi. His voice was deep and calm.

He told her to come to his office. There was something he wanted to discuss with her.

Ye Shi Yi walked into the office. Chen Qingdi’s calm gaze fell upon her. He sat upright at his desk, pointed to the chair opposite him, and motioned for her to sit.

Ye Shi Yi wearily sat down. Chen Qingdi began to speak:

”I know you were in the cells trying to persuade those slaves to give up resisting, but you were almost killed by them.”

A bitter smile appeared on Ye Shi Yi’s pale face. ”Yes. I’m just an ordinary person. I don’t have the power to change their minds.”

Chen Qingdi said in a heavy tone,

”I admire your actions, but you need to understand something. The reason those people are slaves is because they haven’t given up their treacherous ambitions. Only by completely crushing their spirit, by making them understand that resistance is futile, will they finally give up and resign themselves to being slaves.”
