Peerless Medical Emperor

Chen Qingdi followed Yamaguchi Seiko into the Aomori Apartment complex. It was a gathering place for the Dragon Country’s employees on the Outer Island, filled with a unique foreign charm.

Yamaguchi Juefu was a sixty-five-year-old man who had been living a quiet, retired life in the apartment complex. His face was etched with the ravages of time, yet his deep-set eyes still shone with wisdom.

”Hello, Mr. Yamaguchi, I am Chen Qingdi,” Chen Qingdi said with a smile, introducing himself.

Yamaguchi Juefu warmly welcomed Chen Qingdi, his smile full of goodwill and respect. ”Dr. Chen, I’ve heard of your reputation. Your medical skills are extraordinary—you’re the pride of our Dragon Country. Thank you so much for coming to see me.”

Chen Qingdi waved his hand humbly. ”You’re too kind. I’m just doing my job. I heard you’ve been feeling unwell lately, so I wanted to come check on you.”

Yamaguchi Juefu nodded, his gaze filled with trust and hope. Chen Qingdi carefully took his pulse and examined his tongue. As he did, his expression grew grave.

”Mr. Yamaguchi, I’ve discovered that your body is suffering from severe contamination,” Chen Qingdi said slowly. ”This was likely caused by eating contaminated food.”

”Contamination?” Yamaguchi Juefu sounded surprised. ”All the food here is shipped from our Dragon Country. Could our food be contaminated too?”

Chen Qingdi sighed softly. ”It’s possible some food was contaminated during transport, or that harmful pesticides were used during cultivation. Both of these could lead to food contamination.”

Yamaguchi Juefu’s face turned pale. ”Then... can I be cured?”

Chen Qingdi reassured him, ”Don’t worry. As long as we identify the source of the contamination and you avoid eating any more of that food, there’s a chance you can be cured.”

Chen Qingdi then asked Yamaguchi Juefu detailed questions about his diet and his life there. He discovered the old man’s retired life was quite monotonous, consisting of little more than eating, watching TV, and taking walks. He began to ponder how he could help the old man escape the grip of his illness.

”Mr. Yamaguchi, besides your diet, you could also participate in more social activities, like playing cards, chatting with others, or learning something new,” Chen Qingdi suggested. ”It would enrich your life and also help boost your immune system.”

After hearing Chen Qingdi’s suggestion, Yamaguchi Juefu’s eyes lit up with hope. ”Alright, I’ll try to join in more social activities. Also, I’d like to understand more about my condition. Dr. Chen, is there a chance it could get worse?”

Chen Qingdi considered for a moment. ”It’s hard to say. It depends on your physical condition and how you respond to treatment. But I will do my best to treat you and help you recover your health.”

Chen Qingdi then formulated a treatment plan for Yamaguchi Juefu that included dietary adjustments, medication, and appropriate exercise. He also left some test kits and taught Yamaguchi Juefu how to use them. Before leaving, he once again stressed the importance of diet and lifestyle.

”Remember, Mr. Yamaguchi, a healthy lifestyle and diet are key to treating your illness,” Chen Qingdi said. ”I’ll check in on you periodically. If you have any questions or need help, you can contact me anytime.”

Yamaguchi Juefu looked at Chen Qingdi gratefully. ”Thank you, Dr. Chen. I’ll follow your advice and do my best to recover.”

After leaving the Aomori Apartment complex, Chen Qingdi’s heart grew heavy. He realized that on this small island, far from any bustling city, the health of many residents was likely far from ideal. He resolved to work even harder to provide better medical care for the people here. He also hoped that through his efforts, he could make more people understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Chen Qingdi and Yamaguchi Seiko went outside, found a quiet corner, and sat down. Chen Qingdi took a deep breath and said, ”Qingzi, there’s something I need to tell you.”

”Go ahead,” Yamaguchi Seiko replied, her face devoid of expression.

Chen Qingdi sighed. ”About Mr. Yamaguchi... he’s in the late stages of esophageal cancer. I’ve done what I can, but I can’t cure him. I can only ease his suffering and allow him to live out his remaining days without pain. But... he only has a month and a half left, at most.”

Yamaguchi Seiko said nothing, merely watching him in silence.

Chen Qingdi continued, ”I know you don’t want him to suffer, so I’m offering you another option. You could choose to give him some medication that would let him pass away peacefully. While it wouldn’t cure his disease, it would allow him to go without any pain, and it would be a gentle end.”

Yamaguchi Seiko was silent for a moment, then said, ”Cyan Emperor, do you really think I should choose this option?”

Chen Qingdi nodded. ”Qingzi, it’s the most humane choice. If you love your husband, you should spare him the pain and torment.”

Yamaguchi Seiko took a deep breath. ”Alright, then. So be it. I want to save him.”

Chen Qingdi looked at her, surprised. He hadn’t expected her to make such a decision. He took out some medication and surgical instruments and began to treat Yamaguchi Juefu.

Throughout the treatment, Yamaguchi Juefu remained unconscious. His body was extremely weak, but he could still feel the medication taking effect. He sensed his appetite gradually returning and his pain lessening significantly.

Yamaguchi Seiko kept a constant vigil by her husband’s side. Watching the look of pain on his face gradually fade, her heart filled with relief. She knew this was all thanks to Chen Qingdi; without him, her husband would have suffered much more pain and torment.

In the days that followed, Yamaguchi Juefu’s condition gradually improved. He was able to start eating some liquid food, and his pain was greatly reduced. This brought him immense relief and made him all the more grateful for Chen Qingdi’s help.

One evening, Yamaguchi Juefu was chatting with Yamaguchi Seiko. He said, ”Qingzi, I’m so grateful for your constant care and concern. I know my condition has made you worry, but you’ve never once left my side. Thank you.”

Yamaguchi Seiko smiled. ”What are you talking about? We’re husband and wife, of course I’m going to take care of you. Besides, it’s not like there’s no hope. We can continue with the treatment.”

Yamaguchi Juefu shook his head. ”Qingzi, I know my own condition. I’ve reached the end of my life, but I’m not afraid. Because having you by my side makes me truly happy.”
