Transmigrating Into a Book, the Villain Becomes the White Moonlight!

119: Chapter 119 Obedience TestIndeed, at the beginning, he had only given Chu Ci two paths: sign the papers and get out, losing her foundation and spending the rest of her life in misery;

Or resist to the end and be sent away on a one-way boat ticket, leaving her life or death to fate.

But Chu Ci had managed to carve out a third path for herself in this desperate situation—seeking refuge and demonstrating her unique value as a local power: her information, her connections, her familiarity with the gray areas, and... the potentially avoidable, indiscriminate, and troublesome riots that could be triggered by her desperate subordinates who had nothing to lose.

By Su Bai’s side, besides Uncle Fu, who was absolutely loyal but mostly handled high-end and family affairs, there was indeed a lack of someone who could delve into the streets, navigate the gray areas, and handle less-than-clean but potentially useful information and matters for him.

Chu Ci’s proposal happened to fill this potential gap.

”But,” Su Bai’s tone shifted, his eyes sharp, ”if you turn traitor, or feign compliance while secretly opposing me... wouldn’t I be creating a hidden danger for myself and have to go through the trouble of cleaning it up again?”

”Young Master Su, from now on, your word is my command. If you point east, I will never go west. If you say you want the moon, I wouldn’t dare pluck the stars.” Chu Ci immediately stated her position, her tone resolute and her gaze earnest, almost raising her hand to swear, ”My life, from now on, is yours.”

”Oh?” Su Bai seemed to have a bit of interest piqued by her statement, but it was more of a test. ”Then what if... I ask you to do something you cannot do?”

”I’ll find a way! I’ll do it even if it costs my life!” Chu Ci answered without hesitation. ”If I can’t do it, it’s because of my incompetence, and I’ll be at your disposal!”

Su Bai stared at her for a few seconds and suddenly smiled.

That smile wasn’t cold or mocking like before; instead, it carried a kind of... interest, similar to finding an interesting toy.

”Heh, fine.” He reached out and pulled two unopened, thick glass beer bottles from the cluttered coffee table and held them out to Chu Ci.

He gestured for Chu Ci to take the bottles.

Chu Ci didn’t understand why, but she still obediently took them, the cold touch of the glass making her shiver slightly.

”Put them on the ground,” Su Bai nodded toward a relatively clean patch of floor in front of her, ”one on each side, spaced apart. Then, kneel on them.”

Chu Ci was stunned, then immediately realized this was some kind of pledge of loyalty or compliance test.

She gritted her teeth and didn’t hesitate. In front of Su Bai, she somewhat awkwardly lifted her expensive skirt, which was stained with wine, revealing her knees and calves.

Holding onto the edge of the coffee table, she painstakingly and carefully placed the two beer bottles upright on the ground.

Then, she slowly pressed both of her knees onto those two rounded glass bottle caps!

She instantly lost part of her balance, and her whole body swayed involuntarily; she only managed to steady herself by holding onto the coffee table.

A sharp, piercing pain from the hard objects pressing against her kneecaps caused a layer of fine cold sweat to break out on her forehead instantly, but she gritted her teeth hard and didn’t make a sound.

”Not bad.” Su Bai spoke in a flat tone, as if evaluating the initial performance of an object.

Then, he raised his hand and pointed to a corner of the heavy marble coffee table in front of him. ”Bite it.”

Chu Ci looked in the direction he was pointing; it was a hard, cold, and sharp-edged marble corner.

A flash of humiliation and struggle crossed her eyes, but it was immediately suppressed by a stronger desire to survive.

She leaned forward slightly, opened her mouth, and carefully bit down on the stone corner of the table.

”Just like that,” Su Bai’s voice rang out again, ”hold it for half an hour. During that time, your knees cannot fall off the bottles, and your mouth cannot let go.”

He glanced at his wristwatch, then leaned back comfortably on the sofa, picked up his wine glass, and took a leisurely sip.

”In half an hour, if you can still keep kneeling and biting...”

His gaze fell on Chu Ci’s slightly trembling body and her forehead covered in cold sweat, and he slowly said, ”I’ll consider giving you the opportunity you just mentioned.”

Only the sound of heavy breathing and the slight noise of knees rubbing against the bottle caps remained in the private booth.

The rest was the clattering sound of Chu Ci’s teeth clenching against the marble.

...

”You’re back? You, how can you not even go to class and go out to play by yourself without taking the two of us?” As Su Bai pushed open the dormitory door, before he even had time to change his shoes, Fatty’s resentful grumbling hit him. He was leaning on the bed, and the bandage on his head seemed to have been changed, as it was a size smaller.

While taking off his jacket, which was stained with some dust and... some subtle dark marks, Su Bai replied casually, ”I went to take care of some business, not to play.”

”What kind of business is so busy that you even skipped class?”

Fatty turned his head and was about to continue complaining when his gaze suddenly fixed on the area near the cuff of the jacket Su Bai had taken off—there was a small, inconspicuous, half-dried dark red splatter mark. It wasn’t obvious on the dark fabric, but it could be distinguished upon closer inspection. ”Were you in a fight?”

Fatty’s voice dropped a bit, carrying a hint of belated nervousness.

”I went to find that guy named Shen He, and the matter has been resolved,” Su Bai responded.

He picked up the jacket, walked to the small washing machine in the corner of the dormitory, pulled open the door, tossed it in decisively, poured in laundry detergent, and pressed the start button.

The drum began to fill with water and rotate.

”Didn’t we agree to go get revenge together?” Fatty sat up straight, his tone a bit reproachful, but more filled with worry. ”You went alone? You didn’t get hurt, did you?”

”Just a low-life thug, it was resolved quickly. If you guys had come along, you would’ve gotten into trouble, and the follow-up would’ve been more tedious to handle.”

Su Bai walked back and sat on the empty bed opposite Fatty, rubbing his slightly sore neck.

”Ji Bochang’s side has also been dealt with. Those small businesses of their family—I expect someone will start negotiating acquisitions tomorrow. Give your dad a call later and ask him; if he’s interested in taking over, say, the warehouse or logistics line near the port, I can have them transferred to him at a low price.”

”Holy crap! That fast?!” Fatty’s eyes widened, and he almost bounced off the bed, but sat back down grimacing as he pulled his wound. His face was full of disbelief. ”It’s only been a day... no, half a day! Brother Su, your efficiency... not even a rocket is this fast, right?”

”Mm.” Su Bai gave a simple response without explaining.

It had to be fast. With a piece of trash like Ji Bochang, who knows what kind of dirty tricks he’d pull behind the scenes if left to jump around for another day?

Since he decided to act, it had to be with thunderous force—crush him directly, leaving no room for any reversal.

”Alright! Awesome! I’ll message my dad right now!” Fatty instantly threw his gloom about not being taken along to the back of his mind. He happily pulled out his phone and started typing away, his face filled with unconcealed excitement.
