I See Murders Before They Happen

Chapter 234: Chapter 232: Formulating an Action Plan

The vast majority of the time, Su Miaoyi shared the perspectives of the dead.

So far, only Xiang Lianlian had been an exception.

Although she hadn’t seen the moment Ding Ruoyan was killed, given Zhang Bai’s state and the current situation at Ding Ruoyan’s home, her chances of survival were slim.

Moreover, she remembered what Kang Hong’s former advisor had said when she and Lu Zhishen went to Jinghai Science and Technology University to make inquiries.

Ding Ruoyan had resigned for health reasons, and Zhang Yan Yu had handled all the paperwork for her departure.

Su Miaoyi told Qin Chengyuan and Zhuang Yanzheng everything she had seen in the vision.

”So Ding Ruoyan was completely unaware the whole time?” Zhuang Yanzheng said.

Su Miaoyi nodded.

Thinking back, she could still feel the immense shock Ding Ruoyan had felt upon discovering Zhang Yan Yu was a drug trafficker.

The feeling from that moment... it was like a literal, physical heartbreak. It was excruciatingly painful.

Besides the pain, there was also regret and guilt.

She felt she had failed her profession and her students.

She was too ashamed to go on living.

She would never give birth to a drug trafficker’s child; she wanted to die and take the child with her.

But the moment she saw her parents, an overwhelming fear washed over her.

She could die, but her parents could not.

They knew nothing, and they had spent their entire lives worrying about her.

And in the end, she had gotten them killed too.

Su Miaoyi suspected Ding Ruoyan hadn’t passed out from Zhang Bai’s slap, but because her mind simply couldn’t take any more.

As Su Miaoyi thought about this, her chest tightened with distress.

’When we caught Zhang Bai, we went too easy on him. We didn’t hit him enough.’

’We should have slapped him a few more times.’

Zhuang Yanzheng’s phone suddenly rang.

He answered. ”Director Meng.”

Qin Chengyuan glanced back in the rearview mirror.

Su Miaoyi turned her head to look at him.

Zhuang Yanzheng said they were a few minutes from the Municipal Bureau, then after a few sounds of agreement, he hung up.

”There’s news from Qin City,” Zhuang Yanzheng said. ”Director Meng says Lin Yue and his team have found the drug lab.”

”Are they certain?” Qin Chengyuan asked.

”This afternoon, Lin Yue found a dismantled centrifuge under a haystack at a livestock farm. After dark, he snuck up the mountain to investigate and found a basement entrance,” Zhuang Yanzheng said. ”He only reported it to Director Meng after he was certain.”

A centrifuge is essential for manufacturing drugs.

”Lin Yue said the centrifuge was smashed to pieces,” Zhuang Yanzheng said. ”It looks like they were trying to destroy it.”

”There’s another drug manufacturing site in Qin City?” Su Miaoyi looked at Qin Chengyuan.

”Qin City, Wanxiang Village, the garbage disposal plant...” Qin Chengyuan said. ”We’ll talk more at the bureau.”

Su Miaoyi nodded.

Just as they arrived at the Municipal Bureau, Meng Shuyi arrived as well.

She was rushing into the building, her normally neat bun now hastily clipped up with a claw clip.

She glanced sideways when she saw people, then continued running. After a few steps, she suddenly stopped and ran back toward them. ”Minister Qin?!”

Qin Chengyuan nodded and walked into the building.

Meng Shuyi followed him, glancing at Zhuang Yanzheng and Su Miaoyi.

Su Miaoyi meekly met her gaze.

Zhuang Yanzheng raised an eyebrow.

’That evens things out.’

’Someone’s more surprised than I am.’

Qi Feng and Chu Xingrou had also arrived, and Lu Zhishen was still at the bureau, working overtime on a sketch.

The group quickly entered the conference room.

In addition to their group, members of the SWAT team were also present.

Qin Chengyuan had already called them on the way over.

Meng Shuyi began by describing Lin Yue’s findings.

Lin Yue had used a pinhole camera he was wearing to record and send a video.

Meng Shuyi marked the location of the drug lab.

”Qin City is already deploying forces.” Meng Shuyi circled a few spots on the video. ”We’ll surround them from these points and block these intersections. The main reason they contacted us is the concern that once the raid begins in Qin City, the people at the drug hideout in Wanxiang Village will get wind of it and flee. That’s why I think we should strike simultaneously. The head of the Wanxiang Village cattle farm, the people who transport the hay bales and fresh milk, and the long-term employees have all been under surveillance. We’re ready to move at any time.”

As she spoke, she looked toward Qin Chengyuan.

Qin Chengyuan nodded in agreement, then said, ”Director Meng, Su Miaoyi has also discovered a drug lab. Please hear her out.”

Meng Shuyi turned to Su Miaoyi. ”Another one? Where?”

”A garbage disposal plant in the southwest of Jinghai.”

As soon as she heard the word ”Jinghai,” Meng Shuyi thought her ears were ringing.

Qi Feng and Chu Xingrou’s eyes went wide.

Lu Zhishen was also taken aback.

Su Miaoyi stepped forward with a piece of paper in her hand and placed it under the projector.

A drawing appeared on the screen.

Qin Chengyuan looked at the lines, and a muscle in his temple twitched.

To be honest, one could only make out that they were lines; it was impossible to tell what had been drawn.

Su Miaoyi glanced at the screen, casually set her own drawing aside, and revealed the one Lu Zhishen had just finished underneath.

Lu Zhishen, sitting beside her, had been utterly unable to make sense of her drawing, so he’d had her describe it while he quickly sketched it out.

”Time is short, so I’ll be quick. Please take notes,” Su Miaoyi said. ”This is the main building of the garbage disposal plant. You enter through this side door, follow the corridor, and go to the ninth room on the north side. It used to be an employee lounge; it might be something else now. But remember, the ninth room. Once inside, pull this cabinet open. There’s a door behind it.”

”The lock on this door requires Zhang Bai’s iris to open.” The cardinal directions were marked on the paper, making it easy to get one’s bearings. ”After going through this door, there’s a descending elevator. Get out of the elevator, walk about twenty meters, and you’ll reach another door that requires Zhang Bai’s palm print to unlock. Once you’re through that door, you’re in.”

Just as she finished speaking, there was a knock on the conference room door.

Information on the garbage disposal plant was brought in.

It included information on the key people in charge, as well as some of the employees.

All of these people would have to be brought in for questioning.

Qin Chengyuan and Meng Shuyi quickly reviewed the files.

Standing beside Qin Chengyuan, Su Miaoyi also took a look.

’Zhang Bai said the garbage disposal plant belonged to Zhang Yan Yu, but it must have been registered under someone else’s name. Otherwise, the plant would have been discovered back when they were first investigating him.’

Along with the files, an aerial photo of the garbage disposal plant and its surrounding buildings was also delivered.

Once it was on the projector, they immediately began to formulate a raid plan.

Everyone discussed it together.

They quickly finalized a plan of action.

”Bring Zhang Bai, and bring the technicians,” Qin Chengyuan said.

”What’s Zhang Bai’s condition?” Meng Shuyi asked, looking at Zhuang Yanzheng and the others.

Qi Feng said, ”His fever broke this afternoon. He should be fine.”

”Go get him,” Meng Shuyi said.

Qi Feng left.

”I’m going too,” Su Miaoyi said.

”Absolutely not,” Meng Shuyi refused. ”You’re a protected civilian. The operation is too dangerous. They’ll likely be armed, you can’t carry a weapon, so you can’t go.”
