Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Walking directly to the statue, he suddenly began to pray.

Seeing this, Bernard turned to the others and made a shushing gesture. Then he quietly led them out of the room, closing the door behind them.

”Please forgive his manners; over the millennia, he’s endured enough pressure and sometimes needs to pray to vent.

Memories are not good for him.”

The others nodded indifferently, as the undead here were more or less mentally disturbed, and they easily grew accustomed to it.

Moreover, it couldn’t be considered rude; in fact, these undead were a bit too polite.

Jason looked at Bernard, who was speaking, and asked, ”And what about you? Why do you seem to be the most normal one we’ve met?”

In contrast, Bernard, who kept leading them around, didn’t display much abnormal behavior.

”Hahaha, that’s because of this.” He said, shaking the fishing rod always resting on his shoulder, feeling very proud.

”I was obsessed with fishing when I was alive and hardly had any friends, not even family.

Fishing was my everything; I lived by fishing. So I was already abnormal when I was alive; what could be more abnormal after death?”

Bernard laughed heartily.

At this moment, Simon, with keen insight, questioned, ”Those undead you were with before, do they each have their own hobbies?”

Hearing this, Bernard fixed his skull eye sockets, burning with Soul Fire, on him: ”You’re very perceptive; yes. Nalisha is obsessed with painting, Sabo excels in sculpture, and Wally is deeply into dance.”

”So having an obsessive hobby after death allows it to become a spiritual anchor for you all, keeping your emotions in a good state.

Compared to others.” Simon said.

Bernard nodded: ”Yes, it’s impressive that you discovered it so quickly.

Indeed, unfortunately, only a few of us have such obsessive hobbies, and even after death, we continue to be indulged in them.

Many have already given up under the torture of endless time; those with hobbies end up either whole or utterly insane.”

He spoke as he led several people slowly in another direction.

Walking and chatting.

Evidently, these rare outsiders like Alka became a sounding board for the skeleton in front of them.

He indeed needed someone normal to talk to, to relieve his emotions.

They also needed to understand and were not at all resistant.

”If it weren’t for these hobbies, we’d have gone mad long ago and become pirates on the Ghost Ship.

Sometimes you really have to admire Baggett and Kode; although they always argue and have differing philosophies, they remain the most normal by their own willpower.”

”Is Baggett considered normal too?” Jason asked somewhat unsurely from the side.

”Of course, since he’s always been like this, doesn’t that count as normal?”

When said that way, it seemed true.

Having an abnormal personality from the beginning and not changing after a thousand years, that, in itself, is a kind of normalcy.

Although strange, it’s indeed so.

He soon brought them to an area with many houses, but the undead villagers coming and going were scarce.

”You can just find a house and stay here, of course, I think you might prefer living on your own ship.

After all, this is the abode of the undead; while they were normal humans before, many habits have long changed over the millennia.”

”Why are there so many empty houses here?” Chadite asked.

Moreover, it seemed these empty houses were clustered together.

”All those mad residents joined the pirates, naturally leaving them.”

”By the way, if you need to find me, you can find me near the Lighthouse and the port; I’m usually fishing there.

And if you need any supplies, you can also come to me. I usually release most of the fish I catch, so if you need them, you can take them all.”

After chatting a bit more, Bernard, who had been guiding them all along, left.

Of course, they did not enter any of the houses to rest. After a cursory look, and confirming that no one had lived there for a long time, they withdrew.

”What now? Should we map the Island, or should we leave?”

Chadite said, while walking towards the boats by the shore.

Upon hearing this, Alka couldn’t help but ponder. He couldn’t quite determine if this place, which had turned so strange, harbored a mystery, but they had their own tasks to do.

After thinking it over, he said, ”Let’s map it, since we’re here anyway.”

After all, the Island was not very big, and it could be easily walked around in a circle.

Moreover, through a special vision that could see through secrets, Alka always felt that the sky had a tinge of red.

Chadite nodded and began roaming the area with a few others, as there was nothing else to do.

Walking, observing, and chatting.

”So, what caused this Island to become like this?” Jason asked, puzzled.

”Environmental chaos.” Julia said.

All along, she hadn’t said much, just relying on her perception to sense the unique attributes of the surroundings.

At least she sensed something different.
