Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

”So what you mean is, you want us to go to your main base and get ourselves killed?”

Hearing that, Jason couldn’t help complaining. Wasn’t this lie just a tiny bit too low-level?

”No, no, no, that’s definitely not my main base.”

Listening to the words of this undead head, Alka could feel that he was telling the truth.

Maybe it was because he no longer had the restraints of flesh and blood, only these bare bones left, with his soul directly manifesting in the skull. His spiritual fluctuations were so obvious that Alka could easily catch them.

He could clearly pick up the ripples given off by the skeleton’s emotions; even the slightest bit of concealment wouldn’t escape him.

”Spell it out. Going to this Island is safe for us?”

Hearing Alka’s words, the captain’s head hurriedly said, ”That’s right, the people on Wraith Island are actually pretty hospitable, they’re all good folks.

They’re all normal civilians, unlike us pirates.”

The moment he said that, not just Alka, even Chadite and the others nearby all shook their heads speechlessly.

Did he really think anyone would believe that?

”Why?” Alka suddenly asked.

Because he sensed that this sentence was actually the truth.

”Like I said before, we were originally all normal humans. We just woke up for no reason and found ourselves turned into this undead-like state. We don’t really think of ourselves as actual undead.”

”Then why did you start attacking us the moment you saw us?”

”...Wanted to see if you could put us down.” The undead head suddenly said.

Hearing that, Alka frowned, lifted the skull a bit, and turned it to face himself.

”You didn’t look like you were seeking death when you were begging for mercy just now.”

”That’s because I could already feel it—you can’t kill us. Since you can’t kill me, of course I don’t want to die. It hurts like hell.

I’m not some kind of masochist. If I can stay alive, of course I’d rather live. If you really could kill me, just watch if I’d beg or not.”

The skull rambled on and on.

”Interesting.” Alka said, because he could feel that everything this skeleton was saying was true. There wasn’t the slightest intent to hide anything; he acted utterly unconcerned.

Back when they dug that skeleton out of the coffin and its skull was blasted apart by Holy Light, it had also come back to life.

And on the surrounding Ghost Ships, some skeletons had started to gather and awaken as well.

After thinking for a moment, he said to the skull, ”Now take us to Wraith Island.”

”Huh? Can we not go? I don’t really want to go back.”

Hearing that, Alka directly squeezed down hard on his skull.

”We’re going, we’re going, I’ll lead the way. Boys, you hear me? Get your asses in front and clear a path!”

The surrounding undead immediately sprang into action, steering the two death-ships forward.

As they passed through the mist, right in front of everyone’s eyes, the Ghost Ship Chadite had smashed to pieces resurfaced from the sea once more. They could see some broken planks under the water starting to reassemble themselves.

As if it had never been destroyed at all.

The skeletons that had been crushed and swept into the sea earlier also started gathering back onto the ship.

Those dead skeletons came back to life just like that, including the first mate who’d tried to seize the captain’s position earlier.

He even came up next to Pororo and asked if he could have his golden fake eye back; it was very important to him.

Pororo looked at the golden fake eye in his hand, then directly shoved it into the skeleton’s eye socket.

Except, he put it in backwards.

”See? Just like that—no matter how we die, we can’t stay dead, but we can still feel the pain in our souls each time we die.”

While he was speaking, those undead and skeletons were already rolling around all over the deck, screaming in agony.

After quite a while, the grating sounds finally faded. Only then did those undead manage to stand up again.

Then, as if the pain they’d just gone through didn’t exist, they started chatting idly with the nearby undead again.

The eerie scene perfectly confirmed his explanation.

It also made everyone even more curious about this Island.

”Was this Island your former homeland? Is everyone on the Island originally from there?”

In response to Alka’s question, the skeleton actually gave a negative answer: ”No. At most, we used to just be compatriots from the same country.

Not people from a single Island.”

”Compatriots from one country?”

”Yeah. Just a country that got wiped out in a Divine War. When we woke up, we had already become undead and turned into the residents of this Island, drifting on this endless white sea.”

The information in those words was a bit much. These undead had actually survived from the Divine War Era till now?

”Have you ever calculated how long you’ve been awake?” Lucilia, perched on Alka’s shoulder, asked impatiently.

”We did. It’s been about five or six thousand years, I think. Who the hell keeps exact track? Time’s a mess around here anyway.”

So they’d endured from the Divine War Era until now, but only woke up five or six thousand years ago?

Which meant they’d only awakened long after the Divine War had ended.

And after waking up, they became like this.

Thinking of that, Alka asked, ”Then why didn’t you want to go back earlier?”

”Like I said, the people on the Island like peace and are relatively normal. Look at my crew—do any of them look normal to you?

How could we possibly get along? And we can’t kill each other either.”

Hearing this, the few of them actually nodded. That did make a bit of sense.

Judged by undead standards, the skeletons and undead on their ship were still fairly normal, but by normal human standards, they were a bit outrageous.
