Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 560: Chapter 270: Mutation

If one thought about it carefully, doubts filled every corner. Alka didn’t know what the general was truly after. But there was one thing Alka was deeply concerned about: specifically, the general was completely unaffected by the pink mist. According to what the general had said at the time, it seemed to be because of his special physique.

A physique special enough to resist the Dream-Entering Mist. And this Island just happened to be a hidden weak point—perhaps even an artificially created one. Corresponding to the Dream Realm, there was also a powerful dream creature. Above the Dream World of the Island where the royal lineage resided, a gigantic cloud serpent also hovered. Even disregarding its appearance, one could tell it was a powerful dream creature. Its actions suggested it was protecting the Island.

And most importantly, when that general learned Alka possessed a Treasure related to the Dream Realm, his stern expression had broken into an uncontrollable smile. One could see how pleased he was; he was intensely interested in matters concerning the Dream Realm.

Connecting all these pieces... It was hard not to suspect a connection between them. Alka speculated that this Island’s royal lineage likely possessed bloodlines or talents related to the Dream Realm. The capital Island was guarded by a giant dream monster. Klian and his family, also part of the royal lineage, had failed in a political struggle. Could it be that they also had a corresponding dream monster, or more technology related to the Dream Realm? They had brought their monster to the Dream Realm corresponding to Exile Island. They were eroding the barrier between the Island and reality, and then concealing their tracks.

Although Alka didn’t know what these people were planning, it certainly wasn’t anything good. A deliberately hidden Treasure, containing mysterious items that interested General Kriel. And two of them, thoughtfully prepared—seemingly to conceal the Human Skin Map.

A trap? He didn’t know. But Alka had triggered all of this one step ahead of them. Was it dumb luck, or had he intended it? It didn’t matter; he just wanted to run, fast.

If he hadn’t activated it, the chances of escape would have been extremely low. The Dream Realm substitute—if it died, Alka would be immediately ’refreshed’ back to reality. It was because Alka had activated it, turning the Island into a weak point, that Dream Energy could disperse from it. He was leveraging the chaos generated by the convergence of reality and the Dream Realm. Moreover, he could enhance his own strength through the surge in Dream Energy. This comprehensive enhancement would aid his escape. Without the dream-related enhancement provided by this environment, Alka couldn’t have broken through that strange pressure, forcibly pulling Ashadeti and Lucilia into the Mirror, and sending them away.

As far as Alka understood, this kind of sinking shouldn’t have happened so quickly. Reality was unfolding much faster than he had anticipated or known. In just a short while, they had been dragged into the interstice, leaving reality behind. As a result, they hadn’t had time to escape and were now trapped here as well.

However, this drastic environmental change also meant the powerful general had completely lost any inclination to pursue them. Clearly, understanding the surrounding changes was more important to the general than chasing Alka and the others, especially since he, too, was trapped here.

He shook off these thoughts.

Alka said while running, ”Let’s try to get to the coast first, meet up with the others, and then we can make a plan.”

The two nodded and quietly followed behind Alka.

In this place, already affected by the Dream Realm, it was much better with Alka leading the way. Although they could still see the distant scenery and the nearby trees twisting, Alka, having stayed in the Dream Realm for so long, could distinguish directions during the brief intervals where reality and the Dream Realm intersected.

「...」

Meanwhile, Jason and the others were trapped on the Island. They discovered that the sea, which should have been nearby, had completely vanished. The changes around them made them realize this was likely related to the Dream Realm. This was because they had all awakened in the Dream Realm before, personally experiencing its atmosphere and sensations. After all, Alka’s abilities were well-known; who wouldn’t want to awaken in the Dream Realm and experience that peculiar sensation?

”What do we do now? We can’t even see the coast, much less meet up with others,” Simon said helplessly.

”It’s related to the Dream Realm. Is there any chance Alka caused these changes? He might have already escaped taking advantage of these changes and chaos.”

Jason spoke, then stood up and added, ”Let’s go find the others and regroup. We can’t get out of here anyway.”

As he finished speaking, a black, ball-shaped shadow creature materialized beside him. It opened its enormous mouth and lunged to bite Juanlu.

Juanlu leaped back to dodge, a Bat appearing in his hand. The orb on its end detached and he swatted it away.

The launched orb struck the shadow creature heavily. However, the sphere passed right through the creature’s body. The creature’s shadow-formed body instantly reformed, completely unaffected by the attack.

No damage?

Seeing his attack had no effect, Juanlu decisively leaped back several times to a safe distance.

Simon instantly raised his hand. The palm of his entirely synthetic left arm transformed, two muzzles extending from it, and fired a red beam and a sharp bullet.

Both attacks instantly pierced through the dream monster.

Yet they still had no effect.
