Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

After that, Little Ai was depressed for several days before she finally snapped out of it, but from Fang Zheng’s perspective, it seemed completely meaningless. Look at Akemi, even knowing her world was created, so what? She still eats and sleeps as usual; your understanding of the world won’t change anything except yourself.

For instance, humans once thought they lived on a vast boundless earth, only to later realize they lived on a planet, and this planet was merely one among several in the Solar System, and the Solar System was just a member of the Milky Way, and the Milky Way was only one among the universe’s many galaxies, and the universe humans observed isn’t but ———— so you see, this is actually an infinite nesting process.

In fact, the unknown always exceeds the known; there is no objective meaning of omniscience and omnipotence, just as wealth and power can only be compared, humans view a deity’s omniscience and omnipotence essentially no different from a primary school student facing a problem they can’t solve, only to have a university student solve it effortlessly.

This is simply a difference in levels.

So as long as you have the right mindset and do what you should do, that’s fine.

Just like now, Fang Zheng was at the scene trying to capture Phantom Thief Kid again.

Except this time, he and Officer Nakamori were at odds again.

The reason is quite simple; both sides were in dispute over whether to use weapons on Kid.

Officer Nakamori perhaps due to chasing Kid for a long time had developed a sense of mutual understanding, repeatedly emphasizing that Phantom Thief Kid only steals and doesn’t kill, and his reputation has already spread outside; if police use lethal weapons against Kid, it’s easy to be criticized by the media, and with Kid’s crime, there’s no need to use guns.

But Fang Zheng had a different view, pointing out that even though Kid hasn’t killed anyone during his thefts, the damage he’s caused is astronomical, like in Osaka when Phantom Thief Kid stole the Egg of Memories and blew up Osaka’s power plant transformer, causing the entire city to lose power for several hours, resulting in economic losses in the billions. Should Officer Nakamori pay for this?

Indeed, merely catching a thief doesn’t require weapons, but now I am treating Phantom Thief Kid as a terrorist harming social security, so why can’t I use weapons?!

As for the media? Are you kidding me? Did you think Fang Zheng bought TV stations for nothing? He’s long been irked by the media glorifying Phantom Thieves and high school detectives. He bought TV stations to gain speech control for police on the media; Phantom Thief Kid being handsome is of no use.

Fang Zheng has traveled through many worlds, hasn’t he killed beauties under his command?

As if he ever cared.

No matter how handsome Phantom Thief Kid is, Fang Zheng is actually having the TV station produce several programs, interviewing victims of Phantom Thief Kid, like those affected by the Osaka blackout. He can find families of patients undergoing surgery at the time, have them talk about how worried and fearful they were during the blackout and also find families of car accident victims, have them on TV to describe how helpless they were waiting for news of their loved ones in pitch-black city...

Do you think I watched ”Society and Law” and ”Morality and Law” for no reason? Isn’t this just a sad drama? Who can’t act? Fang Zheng believes that by then, there won’t be any media daring to speak for Phantom Thief Kid anymore.

Finally, the agreement reached by both parties is that Fang Zheng will deploy SWAT and snipers on the perimeter—after all, the name Fang Zheng used to catch Phantom Thief Kid is not theft but a terrorist who destroys public facilities, this counts as part of a global anti-terrorism operation...

If Officer Nakamori can’t capture Phantom Thief Kid, then don’t blame Fang Zheng for opening fire.

Therefore, to capture Phantom Thief Kid (or to save his life), this time Officer Nakamori put considerable effort, even specifically arranging for four industrial blowers from somewhere. Surrounding the entire building from four angles, once Phantom Thief Kid attempts to flee using his glider, he would immediately be blown into the nearby river where Officer Nakamori had also placed blocking nets, as soon as Phantom Thief Kid falls into the river, he would immediately become drenched and directly captured by the special net...

Well, I have to say, Officer Nakamori’s idea this time is quite innovative; it seems indeed pressured to the extreme, it would push out human potential.

However, whether it’s useful or not... that remains unknown.

So now, Fang Zheng was also on a nearby rooftop observing the situation at the scene through a sniper scope, whereas Officer Nakamori urgently directed his subordinates to pursue Kid. After all, both sides were bearing different responsibilities; Officer Nakamori must catch the thief in the act because he was catching a thief.

But Fang Zheng was different, his reason given to the Metropolitan Police Department was to arrest a terrorist, therefore his authority naturally differed. You could say both sides were arresting the same criminal under different charges, the next thing to see is who would succeed.

Initially, it was quite successful.

Officer Nakamori commanded his men to force Phantom Thief Kid onto the rooftop, causing him to use the glider, then turning on the blowers to blow him directly towards the river, meanwhile, the net hidden in the river slowly emerged, next everything would be fine as long as they follow the plan to capture Phantom Thief Kid.

However... at that moment, an unexpected scene occurred.

When everyone thought everything would go smoothly, Phantom Thief Kid in mid-air suddenly turned around and reached into his chest to pull out a gun!

”Hm?”

Seeing this scene through the sniper scope, Fang Zheng frowned. Phantom Thief Kid did have a gun, but it was just a toy gun to shoot playing cards. Factually speaking, Officer Nakamori was right, although Phantom Thief Kid always made operations that could accidentally kill someone, he never directly used lethal weapons.

Yet this time, Phantom Thief Kid directly pulled a gun?

”Bang bang bang!!!”

Simultaneously, Phantom Thief Kid also fired at those drivers operating cranes pulling the net, as the glass before them shattered, the operators jumped out of their vehicles in fear one after another.

”Phantom Thief Kid is opening fire!”

”Shooting!!”

”What?”

Hearing this, Officer Nakamori was stunned.

Phantom Thief Kid would open fire?

Is this still my Kid?

You’ve changed!!

At this moment, Officer Nakamori felt as if watching his first love, who once made a vow with him, sitting into a BMW, and he felt miserable.

However, this had nothing to do with Fang Zheng, he just watched the figure plummeting downward and issued the order.

”Open fire.”

”Bang bang!!”

Including Fang Zheng, two sniper rifles fired simultaneously, bullets pierced through the night, flying towards Phantom Thief Kid.

One bullet was dodged by Phantom Thief Kid, while the other hit Kid’s left shoulder, causing a sudden burst of blood and flipping him in the air. Nevertheless, he stretched out his hand to throw the grappling hook, swiftly grabbed it, swept under the bridge, and jumped onto a boat.

”Kidd used the houseboat to escape, heading upstream along the Tsukishima River!”

Fang Zheng put down the sniper rifle and turned to walk downstairs, taking out the walkie-talkie at the same time.

”This is Fang Zheng, special consultant of the Metropolitan Police Department. From now on, I will command the entire scene. Immediately block the surrounding intersections, start patrol helicopters right away, keep an eye on the fugitive. Be aware, the suspect is armed with lethal firearms, authorized to use weapons if necessary! I will head to the scene immediately!”

At the same time, Conan also chased after Kidd on his skateboard. Seeing Conan appear, Kidd quickly returned to the boat, and in the next moment, saw mines disguised as lanterns on both sides of the boat dropping, igniting a large area of flames and waves.

This small scene certainly couldn’t hinder Conan. Soon, the two pursued each other, and the speeding boat finally reached the end of the canal. At this moment, Kidd did not decelerate; instead, the boat suddenly accelerated, lifted its head, rammed directly onto the embankment, and next, a car sped out from the boat, rushing onto the highway.

But Conan also followed closely, jumping onto the highway from the river on his skateboard.

”You’re getting more and more unscientific.”

However, as Conan pursued, a voice suddenly sounded in his ear. Conan turned to look, only to see Fang Zheng driving a strangely shaped motorcycle also coming alongside. Unlike ordinary motorcycles, this one appeared exceptionally low, with nearly a meter distance from the front wheel to the handlebars, the entire motorcycle pitch black, and embedded on both sides with something resembling steel plate armor.

”Chasing a car on a skateboard, you really think you can catch up?”

”I didn’t expect you to come too.”

”Nonsense, I also get the special allowance from the Metropolitan Police Department, right? Plus, I rarely modified a good car, wanted to use Kidd to test it... Come on!”

”Okay!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s call, Conan responded and then exerted force on his skateboard, leaping into the air, spun around, and sat behind Fang Zheng, grabbing him tightly.

”I was going to ask you, is your motorcycle alright?”

”Don’t worry, surely nothing wrong, and I brought some good stuff!”

Listening to Conan’s inquiry, Fang Zheng chuckled, then forcefully pressed the button at his side. The next moment, a bright light flashed beneath the lamp at the front of Fang Zheng’s motorcycle, followed by a sudden jolt, an invisible energy burst out, shooting forward rapidly!

”———————!!!”

At the instant of being hit by this invisible force, the silver-white sports car began swaying from side to side, and its speed started to decline rapidly.

But at this moment, suddenly, a figure leaped out from the passenger seat of the sports car, rushing towards Fang Zheng, a glint of a blade appeared, transforming into lightning sweeping horizontally at Fang Zheng!

”Come on!”

Simultaneously, Fang Zheng shouted loudly, as the black armor on the side of his motorcycle suddenly opened, revealing a pitch-black greatsword. Fang Zheng then reached out to grab the pitch black greatsword with his right hand, slashing it down towards the incoming swordlight!!

”Boom————————!!!!”

A black giant python descended from the sky, directly striking the radiant lightning blade light, causing smoke to scatter. Soon, the mysterious figure from earlier was knocked flying out of the smoke, crashing into the rear of the silver-white sports car that had barely stabilized.

The black motorcycle also roared out of the smoke at this moment, continuing to speed towards the silver-white sports car.

”Today, I wanted to play Need for Speed, but the timing is wrong, so... let’s play Violent Moto instead!”

Whispering softly to himself, Fang Zheng pressed another button.

Nitrous boost activated!

”—————————————”

At this moment, the berserk black beast roared again, accelerated instantly, swiftly closing the gap with the silver-white sports car.

At this point, Fang Zheng also grabbed the direction with one hand, holding the black greatsword high with the other, and in a blink of an eye, started riding shoulder to shoulder alongside the silver-white sports car.

”Hey, long time no see, perhaps first meeting...”

However, before Fang Zheng could finish speaking, suddenly another person emerged from Phantom Thief Kid’s side. He wore a black broad-brimmed hat and a black suit, holding a handgun, shot at Fang Zheng. Fang Zheng hurriedly withdrew the pitch black greatsword he was about to slash down, turning it into a shield in front of himself, blocking the shot.

”He’s not Kidd.”

Conan noticed this too; after all, he had been chasing Phantom Thief Kid for a long time, and knew Kid always operated solo, having no accomplices. Moreover, Kid’s actions always carried the elegance and mysteriousness of a magician, rather than being this wild and unrestrained with accomplices on the side... This was not Kid’s style!

”I know, whoever he is, since he used a gun, you can’t escape! Do it!”

While they were talking, Kidd suddenly turned the steering wheel, veering towards Fang Zheng’s motorcycle. Fang Zheng also made a leap with the motorcycle at this moment, accompanied by his voice, Conan, sitting behind Fang Zheng, also leaped into the air. Next, a soccer ball appeared from his belt, and Conan aimed at the sports car below, kicked it hard!

”Boom————!!”

The white soccer ball, like a cannonball, hit the front of the silver sports car, caused it to spin several times, and then finally stopped.

Before the person in the car could get down, a streak of black radiance flashed across his neck. Fang Zheng maneuvered the motorcycle sharply, the greatsword in his right hand was thus aimed at the necks of Kidd and the man in the black suit sitting in the car.

”Alright, surrender obediently, Phantom Thief Kid—not.

Glancing at the man in the black suit beside Phantom Thief Kid, Fang Zheng coldly smiled.

”Should say... Lupin III.”
