Chapter 2185: Chapter 2183: Who’s Threatening Whom? (Mechanical Ascension Failure-Induced Self-Isolation)

“Nobody move, anyone who dares to shout will be dead!”

A robber angrily raised the gun in his hand and fired a shot towards the ceiling. Quickly, screams erupted, and another robber pointed his gun at the driver.

“Close the door, then switch the bus sign to a return trip!”

“Ah, yes…”

Hearing the robber’s command, faced with the dark gun barrel, the driver hurried to comply, closing the bus door and slowly driving forward.

“Alright, now everyone with a cellphone, hand it over to me!”

At this moment, another robber waved his gun and approached the other passengers. Faced with the robbers, the passengers anxiously took out their cellphones and handed them over.

Little Ai was still in shock. Earlier, she thought Fang Zheng was being overly paranoid—after all, what could happen on a public bus? No matter how brilliant Conan was, it was impossible for anything to occur on this bus, right?

However, reality was telling her there was even the ability to hijack a bus!

Is this really happening?

At this moment, the kidnappers contacted the bus company via walkie-talkie and made their demands. They wanted the police to immediately release the previously arrested jewelry robber, Yajima Kunio, or else, after one hour, they would kill one person every fifteen minutes!

Upon hearing this, Conan immediately began reasoning.

Yajima Kunio was a member of the jewelry robbery group arrested last month. Considering this, these two robbers must also belong to the robbery group. Hijacking the bus obviously intended to use hostages to pressure the Metropolitan Police Department to release him…

As Conan was pondering how to respond, the gun-toting robber came in front of Fang Zheng.

“Hey, hand over your phone.”

Hearing the robber’s demand, Fang Zheng glanced at him and then took out his phone. The robber reached out, intending to seize Fang Zheng’s phone.

But just as the robber extended his hand, Fang Zheng’s hand holding the phone suddenly clenched into a fist, delivering a heavy punch to the robber’s abdomen. The next moment, the robber’s eyes rolled back, and simultaneously Fang Zheng stood up, grasping the robber’s gun-holding right hand with his left, forcefully snatching the gun away.

“Thud.”

At the same time, the unfortunate robber was knocked unconscious by Fang Zheng, collapsing to the ground, while the other robber quickly aimed his gun at Fang Zheng upon witnessing this scene.

“Don’t move, or I’ll shoot!”

But as quick as thought, Fang Zheng also raised the gun he had taken from the robber, then—pointed it at the head of a stylishly dressed middle-aged woman sitting in the last row.

“You’re the one who shouldn’t move, or I’ll shoot.”

“…………..”

Little Ai, Conan, Ayumi, and Mitsuhiko, the four-member group: “???????”

Other passengers: “?????”

What on earth is this?

In their view, Fang Zheng should either raise the gun against the opponent or surrender, but this… what kind of unfolding is this?

Threatening kidnappers with a regular passenger… is there such a move?

Is this even possible?

“Hahahaha.”

Seeing this scene, the kidnapper laughed out loud.

“Do you think you can threaten us like this? What a joke! We’re strangers to that woman, so go ahead and shoot.”

“Oh, so she’s not with you, huh.”

Upon hearing the kidnapper’s words, Fang Zheng chuckled, then his gun slowly moved downward, directly jammed into the woman’s mouth with force.

“Then you can try, I’ll count to three, if you don’t put down your gun, I’ll kill her.”

“………?????”

The passengers were all stunned.

What kind of situation is this?

Who’s the kidnapper here?

Who’s threatening whom?

“One.”

Yet Fang Zheng remained completely unfazed, he stared at the robber, calmly counting down. At this moment, the woman was sweating profusely, desperately signaling the robber with her eyes; the latter gripped the gun tightly, silent, as if hesitating.

“Two.”

Fang Zheng’s gun moved slightly, simultaneously a cold and invisible murderous intent rapidly filled the atmosphere. Sensing this killing intent, the woman’s face turned pale, completely motionless. As for the robber, he held the gun, still silent, but by now he was clenching his teeth, aiming the gun squarely at Fang Zheng.

“… Oh, wait a moment.”

But at that moment, Fang Zheng suddenly paused and then looked at Conan.

“Conan, go take this woman’s watch off her wrist, lest she gets desperate and takes us down with her.”

“Huh?”

Upon hearing this, Conan froze for a moment, then seemed to understand something, hurriedly got up from his seat and walked towards the woman. Seeing Conan’s action, the kidnapper suddenly tensed up.

“Don’t you dare move, or I’ll shoot!”

“If you shoot, then I’ll kill her.”

Fang Zheng glanced at the kidnapper, then looked at the woman in front of him.

“You better not move, if your hand dares to move even a little, I’ll still shoot, don’t test my patience. Now, extend your left hand, slowly.”

The woman had a face ashen with despair, completely unable to speak, she extended her hand like a defeated rooster. Conan also quickly moved forward, swiftly unfastened the watch from her wrist, and carefully studied it. Then, Conan’s face changed dramatically.

“Mr. Fang Zheng, this is a bomb detonator!”

“Bomb?!”

Upon hearing this, everyone shouted in fear, while Fang Zheng rolled his eyes.

“I know, that’s why I had you take it. Be careful, if you accidentally trigger it, it’s all on you.”

“Uh… alright…”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s words, Conan’s face fell, he now understood why Fang Zheng didn’t let Haibara take the watch and instead had him do it… so you wanted to find a scapegoat!

“Alright, so… three…”

“Surrender, you idiot, just surrender already!!”

The woman couldn’t hold it anymore and screamed at the kidnapper. If they had doubted that the other party was pretending before, now there was no doubt—he even figured out where her bomb detonator was located. It was obviously marked beforehand; if they didn’t surrender now, they’d really be meeting the King of Hell!

Under his accomplice’s angry shouts, the other kidnapper hesitated for a moment before finally choosing—hands up, surrender.

And so, this kidnapping case was resolved, and soon the police arrived at the scene, taking away three kidnappers. By the way, those bombs were all confiscated by the police as well. The rest of the people on the bus were detained to make statements, Fang Zheng and company included, the Boy Detectives were quite calm, being seasoned in such affairs. Only Little Ai felt somewhat regretful—in fact, she was the one who suggested going swimming, originally Dr. Agasa suggested skiing, but Little Ai insisted on seeing what differences Fang Zheng’s body had compared to a normal human, so she found an excuse to go swimming…

But unfortunately, it had now lost all significance.

Of course, it taught Little Ai a valuable lesson—never go out using public transport with Conan again.

Encountering kidnappers even on a bus, who knows what worse fate awaits on a cruise or plane?!

As Little Ai was reflecting, Conan and the Boy Detectives surrounded Fang Zheng.

“Mr. Fang Zheng, how did you know that woman was an accomplice, and how did you know her detonator was a watch?”

Conan was now incessantly questioning Fang Zheng, these questions had been bothering him all along. If Fang Zheng were an onlooker, Conan might still suspect him as an accomplice of the kidnappers who had turned against them. But Conan knew Fang Zheng was reluctant to go out today, and only came because Haibara dragged him out, and he’d never met these kidnappers. How did he know that woman was the third kidnapper?

“By their expressions.”

Fang Zheng yawned and glanced at Conan as he spoke.

“The kidnapper took a glance towards the back when he got on the bus, clearly checking if his accomplice was in position. I followed his gaze to the back and locked onto that woman. Of course, if nothing happened, it wouldn’t have mattered, but once something did, it indicated that she must be the problem.”

At this point, Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

“As for the detonator, it’s even simpler. When I pointed a gun at her, I noticed she kept glancing at her left wrist. Obviously, she was contemplating triggering the bomb to threaten me. Since she wasn’t holding a gun, she probably had some kind of detonator. Even though she tried to act normal, the subconscious expressions people display when thinking betray their intentions…”

“Hiss—”

Hearing this, Conan gasped in awe, Fang Zheng’s ability was terrifying, almost like mind reading. An ordinary person standing before him felt like they were naked, their thoughts easily exposed… thinking of this, Conan felt lucky that Fang Zheng wasn’t a member of the Black Organization; otherwise he might’ve died hundreds of times over.

“Mr. Fang Zheng is really amazing…”

Ayumi and Mitsuhiko expressed admiration at this point.

“It’s almost like a superpower.”

“I wish I had such ability.”

“Ha ha ha.”

Fang Zheng chuckled lightly, looking at them.

“You’re lucky I’m not your teacher, otherwise if I asked who didn’t do their homework yesterday, you’d all be in trouble.”

“Uh…”

Upon hearing this, the three kids’ faces instantly turned pale as they took a step back.

At this moment, Fang Zheng seemed far more frightening than the kidnapper in their eyes.
