Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

The rain poured down.

In the pitch black darkness, the city before him was shrouded in gloom.

A man wearing a woolen hat with kelp-head hair put down his phone and looked at the blonde woman beside him.

”It’s settled. They have agreed to provide the necessary facilities in three hours.”

”Are you really going, Shu?”

The blonde woman looked uneasily at the kelp-head before her.

”It was hard enough to come back from that place, and this time it’s even more dangerous, isn’t it?”

”I know, but I have to go. This is unlike the style of that organization...”

As he spoke, the kelp-head looked at the phone in his hand, gripping it tightly.

”Moreover, no matter who these guys are or for what reason, they are not allowed to destroy other people’s happiness and lives. This is a task directly assigned by the director, which I must complete.”

”But in case...”

”Don’t worry, I’m using a fake identity. And you know, my disguise skills are very impressive. As long as I can contact the other party through that call, I can infiltrate their subordinates and find out their true identity.”

”But this is very dangerous...”

”That’s why I’m doing it, and I’m not going to die that easily.”

The kelp-head smiled slightly at the blonde woman beside him.

”Don’t show that expression. Rest assured, I will come back safely.”

After saying this, the kelp-head got into the car and drove away, leaving the blonde woman standing there, watching the car disappear into the rainy night.

For some reason, at this moment, a deep sense of unease was hidden in the blonde woman’s heart.

”Shu...”

Three hours later, the kelp-head arrived at the warehouse in the port area in his car. He cautiously parked the vehicle and then looked around vigilantly before entering the empty warehouse. Soon, the kelp-head saw a black suitcase placed on the ground in the middle of the warehouse, with a dove holding an olive branch emblem on it.

”Hmph, Peace Envoy...”

Upon seeing this emblem, the kelp-head’s face darkened. Self-proclaimed peace envoys who claimed many innocent lives, what kind of peace envoy is this? Although the higher-ups suspect this has to do with the Black Organization, as someone who had once infiltrated the Black Organization, he knows this isn’t the organization’s usual style. If the organization were so high-profile, they wouldn’t be neurotic enough to make anyone who might leak organization information disappear.

Thinking of this, the kelp-head again glanced at the phone in front of him, which displayed the text message sent earlier.

”At 2 a.m., go to Warehouse No. 3 in the port area. There’s a suitcase there; input the code 514 to open the suitcase. Inside, you’ll find a plan book, funds, and weapons. It will specify the target, time, place, and method of action. Good luck.”

Looks like I really need good luck.

The kelp-head put away the phone, placed it in his coat, and then walked up to the suitcase, paused for a moment, then extended his hand to input the code. The kelp-head opened the suitcase.

However...

”This is...”

Right as the kelp-head opened the suitcase, what he saw wasn’t the plan book, funds, and weapons as the text message stated. Instead, it was a black box flashing with light, and a card placed on top of the box, with a line of English printed on it.

”FBI fools, gotcha!”

The next moment, the light burst forth.

”Boom———!!!”

With flames soaring into the sky, the entire warehouse was suddenly engulfed in a raging inferno.

”Oh, another one huh.”

Looking at the information popping up on his personal terminal, Fang Zheng shrugged.

Ever since he published his phone number globally, thousands of people have called in every day. Some are genuinely seeking revenge, but some are members of intelligence agencies from various countries, clearly intending to infiltrate and investigate his true identity.

However, Fang Zheng’s personal terminal isn’t something to be trifled with. Even if the caller uses a voice changer to disguise their voice, it can still accurately extract the original voiceprint, conduct a search across the global communication network, and compare to find people with matching voiceprint characteristics to investigate identity.

If they’re intelligence personnel from China or Russia, Fang Zheng sends them a letter indicating ”none of your business, go home and sleep.” But if they’re from the Five Eyes Alliance, Fang Zheng sends them a box of bombs, bidding them to go home and get married.

Quite a few fish have bitten in the past couple of days, several people from MI6, CIA, and FBI have died. These fools are quite stubborn, and they keep sending... fine, let them send, he doesn’t care.

However, Tokyo has been quite unrestful lately, likely due to being provoked. Recently, there have been cases of police being murdered using firearms, which is far more severe in nature than the usual locked-room murders or the like. According to information received by Fang Zheng, two policemen were holding police badges before they died, making it highly likely the perpetrator is a member of the Metropolitan Police Department. Coupled with the incident from America, the police department is in a state of panic. Many suspect that the organization responsible for the attack in America may have someone with a hidden identity lurking within the police department...

Oh boy, you don’t say, they really guessed right.

Although the Skynet system has captured footage of the perpetrator, the other side clearly disguised themselves, making them unrecognizable.

While the Metropolitan Police Department internally speculates who the perpetrator might be, Fang Zheng knows the answer. This is the well-known plot of the movie ”The Dark Assassin in the Eyes,” and the perpetrator is a psychotherapist. Of course, the reason behind the police murders... well, murder motives in the Conan World really can be anything.

But Fang Zheng cannot report the perpetrator because he has no evidence. In reality, this movie’s climax relies on the perpetrator exposing themselves onsite. Otherwise, without proven evidence, it’s hard to catch them in the act.

Thus, even if Fang Zheng calls to tell them, ”The one who killed the police is XXXX,” without evidence, it’s completely meaningless.

However, there might still be a way.

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng lifted his head, and at this moment, the elevator opened appropriately.

”This is the banquet hall.”

Following Fang Zheng into the banquet hall, Little Ai glanced around with a frown.

”It feels like the atmosphere is rather gloomy.”

”There’s no helping it; the banquet was booked half a month ago, who knew these events would happen.”

Fang Zheng adjusted his tie and walked into the banquet hall. Today, he was attending Officer Shiratori’s sister’s engagement party. Normally, considering the shocking global event and the consecutive murders of two policemen, the police in the Metropolitan Police Department wouldn’t be in the mood to attend such a party.

But, after all, the party was scheduled in advance, and many attendees had reserved their days and time to attend, so it couldn’t be canceled last minute. Thus, although the atmosphere wasn’t overwhelmingly lively, the party still proceeded as planned.

Little Ai looked over to the other side of the venue and smiled faintly.

”Look over there.”

”I don’t want to look, should say no need to look when I can already tell who’s there; let me take it easy.”

Without glancing, Fang Zheng knew it was the Mouri family over there, of course, as well as the Grim Reaper Conan.

”It’s improbable someone would die at this kind of occasion, right?”

”Hopefully not, but who can predict when the Grim Reaper strikes?”

”Hahahaha—!”

However, as soon as Fang Zheng finished speaking, Conan’s laughter was heard not far away. Fang Zheng and Little Ai turned their heads to look, only to see Kogoro Mouri punching Conan on the head.

”Don’t laugh at me!”

”That really hurts!”

”Honestly, Dad, why are you so serious with Conan?”

Ran complained, while caressing Conan’s head. Mouri Kogoro snorted dismissively, then turned towards Officer Megure’s direction.

Meanwhile, Ran noticed Fang Zheng and Little Ai.

”Ah, Mr. Fang Zheng, Little Ai, you’re here too.”

”Yes, hello Ran, and Ms. Eri, nice to meet you.”

Fang Zheng went up to them, nodded to them, then turned his gaze to Officer Shiratori.

”Officer Shiratori, congratulations on your sister’s wedding. Wishing them a joy-filled marriage and lots of children.”

”Thank you, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

Facing Fang Zheng’s congratulations, Officer Shiratori hurriedly smiled and nodded, then turned to a young man beside him.

”Let me introduce, this is my psychologist, Doctor Kyosuke Kazeto. Doctor Kazeto, this is our Metropolitan Police Department’s special advisor, Mr. Fang Zheng. He is a very famous micro-expression expert. Thanks to him, we solved several difficult cases.”

”Oh really, that’s impressive.”

The man introduced as Kyosuke Kazeto’s expression stiffened slightly upon hearing Officer Shiratori’s introduction, but he quickly regained his composure, then smiled at Fang Zheng and extended his hand.

”Hello, I am Kyosuke Kazeto.”

”Hello, Doctor Kazeto, nice to meet you. Please advise.”

Fang Zheng extended his hand to shake hands with Doctor Kazeto.

”By the way, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

At this moment, Conan couldn’t resist and came over.

”Do you know any details about that case at the Metropolitan Police Department?”

”I’m just a special advisor to the Metropolitan Police Department, not a criminal police officer from the first division, how could I know details.”

Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”Are you interested in this case?”

”Yes.”

At this time, Ran also walked over.

”Actually Shin... Conan met the murderer for the first time during their first crime, but was unable to chase them down.”

”The other party has a gun. Are you planning to become a target by chasing them?”

Fang Zheng glanced at Conan.

”I advise you not to get involved in this case. Anyone daring enough to attack police officers with a gun and kill two people is certainly a ruthless fugitive. You would just be courting disaster. Of course, if you have Ran’s skills, then let’s pretend I didn’t say anything.”

”Yes, I said the same thing, Shin... Conan.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng was on her side, Ran nodded as well.

”Although I know you love diving into cases whenever one pops up, this is too dangerous, moreover, you are still a child now...”

”Ugh.....”

Hearing this, Conan looked very frustrated. Even though he no longer needed to hide his identity after confessing, Ran started keeping a very close eye on him, rarely allowing him to act independently. Moreover, she had her own reasons—look at your current state now, dare you say you’re okay running around alone? Then tell me, how did you become small?

Hearing this, Conan had nothing to reply.

Just then, there seemed to be a quarrel on the other side of the banquet hall, and everyone turned to look in that direction. Moments later, Fang Zheng saw Officer Sato, dressed elegantly, leave the banquet hall, and soon after, Doctor Kyosuke Kazeto also left.

”......”

Fang Zheng reached out his hand, patted Little Ai’s head, and tapped her on the crown with his finger, while Little Ai looked at him.

”What’s up?”

”Nothing, I just want to have a good meal today, you stay here for now.”

Fang Zheng said a sentence and then turned to leave.

Indeed, the culprit of the whole movie is Doctor Kyosuke Kazeto, Officer Shiratori’s psychologist. The reason he killed two police officers is they planned to thoroughly investigate a suicide case from several years ago, which, in fact, was committed by Kyosuke Kazeto disguised as a suicide.

This is precisely why, after hearing the news from Officer Shiratori, Kyosuke Kazeto thought of silencing the officers who restarted the investigation into the old case—gotta say, the movie villain is really daring, ordinary people would definitely consider the best option is to flee, unlike this guy who thinks of striking back?

I don’t know what kind of mindset this is. Doesn’t he consider that even killing ordinary people might be one thing, but killing police officers—three at once—isn’t something cops can overlook?

Does this psychologist have psychological issues?

Whatever, it’s fine.

As Fang Zheng reached the entrance of the banquet hall, suddenly, the entire floor turned Pitch Black. At this moment, Fang Zheng noticed a shadow moving toward the restroom at the end of the hallway.

Inside the restroom, Ran and Officer Sato were also surprised by the sudden power outage, and then Ran discovered an open flashlight inside the cabinet beneath the sink.

”Officer Sato, look, there’s a flashlight here.”

While speaking, Ran raised the flashlight. At this moment, with the help of the flashlight’s Radiance, Officer Sato saw a shadow appear at the restroom entrance, clutching a gun, slowly raising it.

”Ran! Put down the flashlight!”

At that moment, Officer Sato quickly turned and pounced at Ran. Meanwhile, the shadow also raised his gun, and then......

Suddenly, a hand grabbed the shadow’s wrist.

”Hey, what are you doing?”

”?!”

Hearing the voice from beside, the shadow was startled, he hurriedly tried to turn around, but next moment Fang Zheng punched him directly on the face, then grabbed and twisted the shadow’s wrist, with a ”crack”, the shadow’s left hand drooped limply, and the gun in his hand ended up in Fang Zheng’s hand, accompanied by a scream, the shadow fell to the ground, silent.

Right then, the lights turned back on again.

”Officer Sato, are you all right?”

”I’m fine, but......”

At this moment Officer Sato hurriedly stood up, vigilantly looked outside, then saw Fang Zheng holding a gun pointed at Doctor Kyosuke Kazeto’s head. The latter, wearing a pair of gloves, painfully crouched on the ground curled up.

”What’s going on here?”

Before long, other police officers came to the scene, and then directly arrested Kyosuke Kazeto. After all, this was an onsite arrest, additionally, Officer Sato saw Kyosuke Kazeto holding a gun, coupled with Fang Zheng’s testimony, it was almost certain that Kyosuke Kazeto is the suspect who murdered two police officers.

Next step is analyzing the ballistics of the gun, once confirmed consistent, the case can be closed.

As for the motive? Let’s head back to the station, enjoy some pork cutlet rice, and then slowly let you explain.

The angry police officers instantly rushed to get Kyosuke Kazeto cuffed properly and took him away promptly. As for Fang Zheng, naturally handed over the gun to the police, and went back to eat... According to the plot, this is when Officer Sato gets seriously injured, Ran is traumatized and falls unconscious, leaving the banquet in vain.

But now that the criminal is caught, surely people can have a decent meal!

”Thank you very much, Mr. Fang Zheng.”

This time Officer Sato also rushed over to thank Fang Zheng, who waved his hand.

”No need to be courteous, it’s just a small effort.”

”However, Mr. Fang Zheng, how did you notice Doctor Kazeto seemed off?”

Ran curiously asked at this point, and Fang Zheng shrugged.

”At the venue, I noticed Kyosuke Kazeto’s gaze at Officer Sato was off, laden with obvious killing intent and malice. Therefore, just to be safe, I followed him out to take a look, moreover...”

”Moreover?”

”A man sneaking outside the women’s restroom, do you think how he could be a good person?”

”..........”

Indeed, it does make sense...

Looking at the stunned Ran, Fang Zheng chuckled and then reached out to pick up a champagne glass, taking a sip.

This movie doesn’t seem to need screening anymore.
