Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Jocelyn smiled and shook her head. ”I don’t know how to drink, but right now I really want to.” Her heart was bitter; people said you could drown your sorrows in alcohol, and she wanted to taste what that kind of relief felt like.

”Here, cheers!” Seeing everyone had opened their drinks, Jocelyn stood up. ”Bless you all, and bless us too!”

Everyone also stood up and clinked their cups. ”We all have to be happy! Cheers!”

A hotpot meal is a confession to winter, and also a little ritual for snowy days.

Ian Shelby’s expression was gentle. He barely spoke the whole time, just stayed by Jocelyn’s side, quietly keeping her company.

Jocelyn ate hotpot and drank four cans of beer. There was always a smile on her face, but that smile never reached her eyes.

This really was her first time drinking. Her cheeks and neck were already flushed red, but that slight buzz made her feel quite happy.

Trevor and Janelle chatted with Jocelyn; they could feel the emotions that had been pent up inside her for so long, and were trying to help her work them out.

But Jocelyn kept a smile on her face the whole time, hiding her inner sadness, acting cheerful from start to finish. She didn’t want her friends to worry about her.

Meanwhile, the overseas calls from Lorelei were still coming in again and again to Ian Shelby’s phone, which was on silent.

About two hours later, in the spirit of not wasting food, they finished the last few pieces of shrimp paste and everyone was full.

The atmosphere was actually really nice. The place was affordable but full of vibe, very suitable for friends to get together.

When Jocelyn stood up, her step faltered and she fell toward Ian. He caught her in his arms. ”Careful!”

”I’m fine...” Jocelyn’s head was spinning. It had been too hot eating hotpot, so she’d already taken off her down jacket, and there was heating inside.

Ian was planning to help her put it back on when Janelle came around to help. ”Jocelyn, you’re really drunk. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

”I’m okay. I still remember who you are. You’re Janelle, Trevor’s girlfriend.”

Jocelyn felt a bit hot and a bit dizzy, her thoughts drifting, a little sleepy too. ”I also remember who I am.” Her words were slightly slurred. ”I’m Jocelyn Morgan, a woman who will do anything for love. I can live without money, but I can’t live without love.”

Janelle helped her into her coat, looking at her flushed face. Those two adorable dimples were really beautiful!

”I’m not going home, Dr. Shelby, I’m not going back...” Jocelyn mumbled. ”If I go back, I won’t be able to get out again. I don’t want to be separated from you.”

Trevor, who understood their situation, calmly said to Ian, ”What are you planning to do now? I mean now, at this very moment.” Then he turned his gaze to the drunk girl.

Jocelyn was lying against Ian’s chest, eyes closed as if she were asleep.

Ever since he’d failed to talk Jocelyn out of drinking, Ian had been thinking about this question—what to do tonight?

He didn’t answer Trevor’s question right away; clearly he hadn’t figured out a plan.

Trevor had considered things from all angles and said, ”You both should stay at my place tonight. That’s the best solution.”

”Is that convenient?” Ian held the drunken Jocelyn in his arms and looked at Trevor with gratitude.

”Of course it is.”

So Janelle and Ian helped Jocelyn into Ian’s car; then she moved to sit in Trevor’s front passenger seat, and Trevor drove ahead to lead the way.

”Sorry, I probably won’t be able to get you home before ten. There’s only ten minutes left.” Trevor was actually a very punctual person.

”It’s okay.” Janelle was very considerate. ”Let’s get them settled first. Sister Sterling has already agreed to us dating; she won’t be that strict about the time.”

Trevor reached out to hold her hand, their fingers intertwining again. As long as she was by his side, he wanted to hold her like this; it already felt like a habit.
