Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

a.m., the Morgan family residence.

The servant accidentally noticed that Jocelyn’s bedroom light was still on. She felt puzzled and decisively knocked on a certain door, ”Madam, the young lady’s light upstairs is still on.”

Jasmine, half-asleep, asked, ”What time is it?”

”2 a.m., an hour later than yesterday,” the servant replied, her face full of concern.

”Okay, I got it.” Jasmine was instantly wide awake and started to worry too.

The servant reported it deliberately, after all, Jocelyn’s situation had been peculiar lately, and Madam had always instructed her to keep an eye out.

After the servant left, Jasmine hurried upstairs and knocked on Jocelyn Morgan’s bedroom door.

At this moment, Jocelyn was sitting on the sofa with her knees up, the room lit, and she was in a daze. Only when she heard the knock did she slowly come to her senses.

She turned her gaze toward the door...

After a while, Jasmine tried turning the doorknob, discovering that the door was not locked.

She walked toward the sofa, ”Jocelyn, why aren’t you asleep yet?”

Jasmine, wearing her pajamas, her hair down, had already slept and woken up once. ”Jocelyn, what are you thinking about?” she asked with some heartache, sitting down beside her and holding her shoulder, ”You should go to sleep now.”

Jocelyn quietly stared at her, softly asking, ”Aunt, could you give me back my phone?”

She was negotiating with her.

Jasmine met the girl’s gaze and remained silent... all for a phone?

”You can’t keep me locked up forever, can you?” Jocelyn asked again, her tone lacking resentment, but the quietness made her seem even more pitiable.

She was neither impatient nor clamoring to leave, yet gave off an impression of steely resolve.

Jasmine sighed, remembering what her daughter-in-law had said that day. Since Jocelyn was this persistent, there was no need to restrain her too much.

To force her further might lead her to depression.

Jasmine took the phone from her pajama pocket and gently placed it on the coffee table.

Then, without a word, she got up and left.

Jocelyn did not try to keep her, watching as the door closed.

Unknowingly, a layer of tears misted over her eyes, the grievances of this period welling up in her heart, a mix of sourness and bitterness.

The phone remained on the coffee table. She didn’t reach for it but instead turned onto the bed, pulling the covers over herself.

Closing her eyes, she quickly fell asleep, her emotions particularly complex.

Early the next morning.

When Jocelyn woke up, the sky was just starting to dawn. She turned her head to look at the clock on the wall—it was seven.

Watching the second hand make two complete circuits, she tossed off the covers, put on her slippers, and went to the sofa, casually picking up the phone.

Ian Shelby had sent her a message on WeChat a few days ago, which she only saw now—her aunt hadn’t told her.

This made Jocelyn quite unhappy and a bit anxious. After thinking for a moment, she called him back, figuring he should be up by this time.

However, no one answered...

At that moment, Ian was in the bathroom showering, the sound of running water drowning out the phone’s ringtone outside.

Jocelyn didn’t call a second time. Always sensitive, she stood by the window, looking out at the vast stretch of whiteness, feeling despondent...

She didn’t know what she was reminded of, but her eyes unknowingly reddened again, and after a moment, a tear dropped.

He didn’t answer, nor did he call back...

She remembered he had once said he typically got up around six and never put his phone on vibrate, fearing the hospital might need to reach him for emergencies.

But why didn’t he answer?

She speculated about his thoughts—was he feeling exhausted? Did he not want to continue this relationship?
