Stockpiling for an Exiled General Through My Store's Back Door

Chapter 60: Chapter 60: I’ll Just Secretly Hold Up a Sign

The first item up for auction was the Small Silver Ingot, with a starting price of ten thousand yuan and bid increments of one thousand yuan.

Hua Buwan immediately tensed up. She was worried it wouldn’t sell, but also afraid it would sell for too low a price.

To her surprise, the item was quite highly sought after. In the blink of an eye, the price reached thirty thousand yuan.

Never having participated in an auction before, Hua Buwan felt an itch to try and raised her paddle.

”Thirty-one thousand going once!”

Hearing the auctioneer call out the price, Hua Buwan’s face flushed red with excitement. She was participating in a high-end auction, and she had bravely placed her very first bid!

Even though she was bidding on her own item, and even though she immediately chickened out afterward—terrified that no one else would raise the price, leaving her to buy her own item and lose fifteen percent to the auction house in fees—she soon heard the auctioneer call out again.

”Thirty-two thousand going once!”

PHEW. Hua Buwan felt relieved; she wouldn’t have to foot the bill.

But soon, Hua Buwan’s smile vanished. Grandma Wen, sitting right next to her, made a move. Why did her expression look so overly excited?

”Forty thousand going once!”

”Fifty thousand going once! Fifty thousand going twice! Fifty thousand for the third time! Sold!”

With the strike of the gavel, the silver ingot finally landed in Grandma Wen’s hands. ℴ

Hua Buwan cast a deep glance at Grandma Wen and thought, ”What a wealthy person!”

This price was exactly the same as the Gold Ingot. Suddenly, she felt a slight pang of regret for selling the Gold Ingot to the old man. Wait, the old man had eventually given that Gold Ingot to Grandma Wen! Hua Buwan’s heart instantly swelled with delight, feeling like she hadn’t lost out after all.

Next came the other pieces of jewelry. In the midst of the bidding, Hua Buwan secretly raised her small paddle just to satisfy her cravings. Her main strategy was simply to raise the paddle, make up the numbers, and drive up the auction price without ever intending to buy. However, she later realized that no matter how high the bids went, there was always someone bidding right beside her—Grandma Wen.

By the end, Hua Buwan had completely lowered her secretly raised hand. She felt too embarrassed to increase Grandma Wen’s financial burden. The prices Grandma Wen bid were even higher than what the system had set! She was already making an absolute killing!

The final item up for auction was the most expensive one: the Golden phoenix hairpin worn by the Empress of Dongxuan Country. The starting price was forty-eight million yuan.

It was still two million short of the system’s valuation of fifty million.

Hua Buwan felt a bit nervous, wondering if this hairpin could sell for fifty million or even higher.

Grandma Wen had already bought so many things just now. Surely, she wouldn’t bid on this one too, right?

The previous items had already sold for two hundred and seventy million. Adding this guaranteed forty-eight million, Hua Buwan was securely set to earn over three hundred million—all of which was basically free money. Just the odd change from these numbers would be more than enough to cover the cost of the goods Ling Qianjun had taken away.

In truth, she could hardly sit still anymore. The moment she lifted her heels, she realized both her legs were trembling.

She had planned to press her hands down on her feet to stop them from shaking, but as it turned out, her hands were shaking too. Anyone who didn’t know better might have thought she was stepping on massage guns instead of wearing shoes.

She could only close her eyes and urge herself to calm down. ”Stay calm, keep the money!” she thought.

When the entire audience saw the hairpin and heard its origins, they couldn’t help but gasp.

It was a Phoenix Hairpin worn by the Empress of Dongxuan Country a thousand years ago! This was not just an antique; it was a pure symbol of status.

If one could win this hairpin at auction and gift it to the right person...

Many people immediately started making phone calls to pull funds. They didn’t have enough money on hand! They had to scrape it together!

”Forty-nine million going once!”

”Forty-nine and a half million going once!”

”Fifty million going once!”

”Fifty-two million going once...”

Listening to the auctioneer’s calls, Hua Buwan’s whole body began to tremble. She thought, ”I’m rich, I’m rich...”
