Stockpiling for an Exiled General Through My Store's Back Door

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: You Can Do It

”Yes, I do have an appointment,” Hua Buwan answered while smoothing out her skirt. ”But there’s no rush. I still have fifteen minutes. Is there something you want to buy?”

She didn’t think it was something she needed to hide. By now, she considered Ling Qianjun a good friend.

Ling Qianjun clenched his fists tightly, his eyes dimming. He didn’t press her on who she was meeting. He worried that asking too many questions would be overstepping his bounds and make her dislike him. As a result, he just replied in a muffled, low-spirited voice, ”Yeah, I’ll grab some water and food.”

”Oh, sure. Just grab it yourself. You know where everything is now,” Hua Buwan said with a smile, then went back to checking if she had packed everything in her bag. She completely failed to notice how dejected Ling Qianjun looked.

After gathering his items, Ling Qianjun silently placed a Silver Tael on the counter and left through the back door.

By the time Hua Buwan looked up, he was long gone. Seeing the Silver Tael on the counter, her eyes lit up. ”Another antique for the auction!”

Her trading pattern with Ling Qianjun was practically set in stone now—he would take what he needed and leave something behind in return. They were both well aware that what he gave was of far higher value, so Hua Buwan was extremely generous with the supplies she provided. Sometimes, she didn’t even charge for small items and just gave them to him for free.

Right now, he was on the path of exile and didn’t need many supplies yet, but there would be a massive demand in the future. She secretly decided that when the time came, she would give Ling Qianjun a ten percent discount! No, make it thirty percent!

Not long after, Grandpa Feng drove up to the supermarket entrance in his convertible with Grandma Wen. ”Hop in, kiddo!”

Grandma Wen waved slowly from the passenger seat. ”Buwan.”

Hua Buwan grabbed her bag and responded with a grin, ”Coming!” 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

She locked up the supermarket and got into the car. It was her first time riding in a convertible, and she was quite excited.

Wait... Cars? The driving test?!

She had completely forgotten that she had signed up for her driving test. Aside from glancing at a few practice questions on the day she registered, she hadn’t looked at the theory material at all.

”Ah, I actually forgot,” Hua Buwan said, smacking her forehead in self-reproach. What a terrible memory!

Seeing her sudden change in expression, Grandpa Feng and Grandma Wen exchanged a confused look.

Grandma Wen asked gently, ”What’s wrong, Buwan? Why did you suddenly hit your head?”

Hua Buwan smiled awkwardly at the two elders and explained, ”The moment I got into the car, I suddenly remembered that I signed up for my driving test recently. But I completely forgot about it! I haven’t even studied for the theory test.”

Grandma Wen raised her eyebrows in surprise, unable to stop herself from covering her mouth to hide a chuckle. Feng Chengde didn’t even try to hold back, throwing his head back and laughing heartily.

Hua Buwan froze in embarrassment. ”Don’t laugh! Or at least, don’t laugh so loudly.”

Grandma Wen graciously saved Hua Buwan some face by immediately stopping her laughter. She consoled her, ”Don’t worry, Buwan. You can take your time with the driving test. The registration is valid for two or three years anyway.”

Feng Chengde patted his chest and added, ”Look at me, your Grandpa Feng. Even at my age, I passed the test. You’ve got a sharp, young brain, so you’ll have no problem. As for the theory test, just schedule it and cram practice questions like crazy.”

”You’re going for a C1 manual license, right?” Feng Chengde asked.

Hua Buwan hesitated for a moment before nodding. She had almost failed to register what C1 meant.

”Back in the day, I studied for one night right before my test and scored a perfect hundred,” Feng Chengde bragged, shooting her an encouraging look that clearly said: You can do it!
