Hijacking the Timeline

During the five days after returning to school, Feng Qi wasted no time, immersing himself fully in his studies.

On the appointed day, a proctoring team composed of teachers from various academies arrived at Star City High School, and the graduation examination commenced as scheduled.

Despite their extensive preparation, the students couldn’t help but feel nervous. The outcome of this examination would determine their future prospects.

The first day focused on foundational subjects such as history, the origins of art magic, the origins of cultivation techniques, and moral character.

In the morning, the proctoring team teachers arrived in each classroom with the examination papers.

Before the exam began, the students still had time to prepare, so they frantically reviewed their notes. Feng Qi, however, sat calmly in his seat, his mind utterly at peace.

Having already secured a recommendation to Star City Academy, whether he participated in this examination or not was irrelevant to him.

Checking the time, he saw there were still ten minutes before the exam began. He immediately stood up to return to his dormitory.

Just then, a graceful figure appeared at the classroom door.

She wore the Star City High School uniform, her hair tied in a ponytail. Standing around 1.6 meters tall, her skin was as white as snow. She peered into the classroom, her gaze sweeping across the room before finally settling on Feng Qi.

Despite Feng Qi’s resigned expression, the woman strode confidently toward him.

”Feng Qi, this graduation examination is our final showdown. I hope you give it your all. I’ll use this test to prove I’m better than you.”

”Is that really necessary? Your competitive spirit is a bit much, don’t you think?” he replied, sounding exasperated.

The girl standing before him was the class monitor from Class Three next door. She had always seen him as her rival, but her exam scores consistently fell short of his. As a result, she would occasionally come over to declare her intent to challenge him.

In his eyes, this girl was just being overly dramatic. She should focus on studying instead of creating unnecessary drama. He had no interest in competing with her over trivial matters.

The girl bristled at Feng Qi’s nonchalant attitude. ”Six years! I’ve been stuck behind you for six years! Do you have any idea how that feels? I’ve been desperate to surpass you and become the top student in our grade level, but I’ve failed every time. This is my last chance, and I’m going to prove to you that I’m not inferior.”

”Spare me the theatrics. I don’t want to see it. What am I supposed to do? I just perform normally on the exams. I’m not cheating or anything. Do you think I actually want to be number one?” he said, his tone tinged with helplessness.

Hearing Feng Qi’s arrogant words, his classmates couldn’t contain themselves any longer. A wave of jeers and taunts erupted.

”Feng Qi, stop pretending! Please, just stop! I can’t take it anymore!”

”An invisible flex is the deadliest!”

”As expected of you, Feng Qi. Your flex is like the wind, always with you.”

”Who is it? Who is exuding such overwhelming flex that it’s shaking my resolve and making me feel like I’m about to crack?”

Hearing his classmates’ comments, Feng Qi wore a helpless expression.

Who’s flexing? I’m just stating facts! Do I want to be first in the grade level? I just perform normally, and I end up first every time. What can I do about it?

”Feng Qi, I hope you perform well. In this final battle, I won’t lose,” the girl said, turning to leave the classroom.

Just then, the proctor sitting at the teacher’s desk glanced down at the exam roster in his hand, then at Feng Qi’s seat, before addressing him:

”Why is the Recommended Student still here? The exam starts in five minutes. Get out now!”

”Yes, sir.”

Feng Qi immediately stood up and hurried toward the exit, brushing past the girl who was still standing frozen in place.

”You got recommended?” she called out to his retreating back as he reached the doorway.

”Yeah, so the top spot is yours this time. Enjoy the feeling of being number one.” He grinned, then strode off toward the dormitory without looking back.

A chorus of boos erupted from the classroom once again.

The examination lasted a single day, with results announced the same day.

Grading the papers was remarkably efficient. The proctors simply fed the students’ answer sheets into a grading machine, which automatically connected to the network to check for correct answers. Within an hour, the entire school’s papers were graded.

Feng Qi’s class achieved a perfect score, with every student passing the basic skills test.

As Wang Jinsheng announced the results with a beaming smile, the entire class erupted in cheers.

Next, they would face the academy teachers’ review examination.

All classrooms would be cleared and converted into examination venues. Teachers from various academies would be stationed in different classes to conduct interviews and assessments. The entire process would be recorded and monitored in real-time to ensure fairness and impartiality.

For example, a student applying to Star City Academy’s Combat Class would need to go to the class where the Star City Academy teacher was stationed for their interview and assessment.

During the review, the teachers would use instruments to measure the students’ bloodline strength, then ask them to discuss their understanding of combat techniques or even have them demonstrate their combat aptitude directly.

While the review examination was flexible, all the proctors were highly professional and would not allow students who lacked genuine ability to pass.

The following morning, the review examination began.

Students lined up in long queues outside the classrooms of the teachers from the academies they wished to apply to, undergoing the verification examinations one by one.

Meanwhile, Feng Qi and Wang Jinsheng sat on the lawn outside the teaching building, chatting idly.

”Old Wang, what percentage of our class do you think will pass the verification exams and get into a Top 100 Academy?”

”About twenty percent, I’d say. The rest will need to stay on campus for the second round of academy examinations. But I’m confident none of our students will drop out early to join the workforce. I have faith in them.”

Wang Jinsheng paused, then turned to Feng Qi and said, ”Almost forgot—the school wants each class to prepare a performance for the graduation banquet after the exams. Any ideas?”

Feng Qi looked surprised. ”What ideas could I possibly have? Maybe I could recite a poem on behalf of our class?”

”Don’t embarrass me. Think of something that will really wow the audience. What special talents or skills do you have that you could showcase?”

Hearing this, Feng Qi fell into deep thought.

Special talents? Skills?

”How about... I demonstrate parallel parking from the driving test?”
