Hijacking the Timeline

Star City Academy, Principal’s Office

”Have you considered my offer? Would you like to join Star City Academy after graduation?” Bai Fusheng asked, his face radiating warmth and gentle persuasion.

Feng Qi had already made up his mind.

Once, his dream had been Galaxy Academy, where he planned to study cultivation technique research and eventually join their prestigious research institute.

But now, with the Dream Realm revealing the future, whether he got into Galaxy Academy no longer mattered.

Star City Academy was now his optimal choice. Aside from his lingering concerns about Lin Ran and Mu Qing—two ticking time bombs—Old Wang of history class would also be returning to the academy someday to restart his studies.

Feng Qi eagerly anticipated witnessing Old Wang’s rise to greatness.

However, he didn’t immediately accept Bai Fusheng’s offer of guaranteed admission without examination.

The art of negotiation lay in the push and pull, in extracting what you wanted through strategic maneuvering. With this in mind, Feng Qi began:

”Grandmaster, I’d like to discuss something with you.”

Hearing this, Bai Fusheng’s face lit up with anticipation. ”Go ahead,” he said, beaming. ”As long as it’s not about making you the principal, we can talk about anything.”

”Joining Star City Academy isn’t the issue,” Feng Qi replied. ”But I don’t want to be a student.”

”Not a student? You really want to be the principal?” Bai Fusheng stared in disbelief.

Feng Qi: ...

”Actually, I want to be a teacher at Star City Academy, teaching students about cultivation arts. You know my talent—not to brag, but I’m more than qualified to be an academy instructor.”

Hearing this boastful remark, Bai Fusheng didn’t refute it.

He had heard Feng Qi lecture before, and his foundation was solid, his explanations clear and organized, like a teaching template perfectly suited for the classroom. Logically, making Feng Qi a teacher seemed feasible.

The problem was that becoming an academy instructor wasn’t something anyone could do. It required various qualifications and passing multiple assessments by the Ministry of Education.

One of these requirements Feng Qi could never meet: providing a graduation certificate from an academy.

These strict requirements were in place for the students’ safety, not out of rigid adherence to tradition. After all, teaching cultivation techniques was no trivial matter.

Inexperienced instruction could easily lead students to make critical errors in their practice, potentially causing severe injuries or even death from ruptured meridians.

In the past, academies had hired renowned experts from domain combat teams as instructors, only to encounter numerous safety issues during cultivation practice.

This proved that being strong and being a good teacher were two entirely different things.

Many of these stringent regulations were lessons learned from history.

Glancing at Feng Qi, Bai Fusheng felt conflicted. He didn’t doubt Feng Qi’s capabilities, but he simply couldn’t fulfill his request.

”Grandmaster, you’re the academy director. I’m sure you can easily handle this small matter.”

”A small matter? If I agree to this, I might lose my position as principal! You don’t even have teaching credentials—how can I let you teach?” Bai Fusheng retorted, his beard bristling and eyes glaring.

”Then let’s think outside the box. I can enroll as a student at Star City Academy, but you’d grant me the corresponding teaching privileges, like leading a class or something. To the outside world, I’d still be a student.”

”Hmm... I’ll consider it.”

Allowing Feng Qi to occasionally give a few lectures was within his authority, but letting him lead an entire class seemed excessive.

”Just let me try, Principal. If I don’t teach well, I’ll gladly remain a student,” Feng Qi persisted, trying to win Bai Fusheng over.

He wasn’t worried about his teaching abilities. The cultivation technique instructional videos from the Dream Realm would solve that problem entirely.

Nothing couldn’t be resolved by copying from the future. If something didn’t work, he’d just copy it again.

After a moment’s hesitation, Bai Fusheng gritted his teeth and said, ”Since you’re so confident, I’ll let you try for now. But what’s with you, kid? Isn’t being a student good enough? Why make things harder for yourself by becoming a teacher?”

”Geniuses have to be different, right?” Feng Qi grinned.

Watching Feng Qi’s growing arrogance, Bai Fusheng was momentarily speechless.

For some reason, he suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to punch Feng Qi.

After returning from the principal’s office, Feng Qi sat at his desk, opened his notebook, and began recording the gains from his latest Dream Realm experience, as well as preparations for his next entry.

The ”Suction Cup” he encountered in the Dream Realm had piqued his curiosity.

It seemed something about him was attracting the Suction Cup, causing her to develop a dependence on him.

He couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason, so he planned to thoroughly search the database during his next Dream Realm visit for any records related to the Suction Cup.

His greatest discovery in the Dream Realm was the revelation that enemies were lurking among humanity. The mysterious Scarlet Research Institute had likely been infiltrated and controlled by these foes, transforming it into a tool for domain creatures to suppress human civilization’s progress.

Based on the email message he received, he suspected the Scarlet Research Institute was conducting a series of secret research projects that threatened humanity’s advancement. Leading these projects were Domain-Transcending Creatures capable of escaping the Domain Field.

As for the specific nature of these research projects, the future had provided him with limited information, leaving the answers shrouded in mystery.

Now back from the Dream Realm, Feng Qi set himself a clear goal:

To secretly establish an organization capable of countering the Scarlet Research Institute while simultaneously protecting human geniuses who might prematurely perish.

If he could achieve the goals he had set, the future would undoubtedly undergo a radical transformation.

Feng Qi’s mindset gradually shifted as he repeatedly entered the Dream Realm.

During his first visit to the Star City Shelter, when he learned that human civilization would be destroyed in 1,500 years, he was stunned, even incredulous.

Before that, he had firmly believed that humanity would inevitably triumph in the long struggle against the domain invasions.

But now he understood that the end of human civilization was no accident; the truth was far more brutal.

There was no such thing as peaceful times.

The notion that humanity could eventually dispel all Domain Fields and achieve ultimate victory through diligent development was a fallacy.

Beneath the seemingly calm surface of civilization’s progress lurked turbulent undercurrents—a series of crises threatening to annihilate human civilization.

The Scarlet Research Institute, Mu Qing, Lin Ran... and perhaps countless other hidden dangers yet to be discovered. He needed to act like antivirus software, traversing the future to identify viruses lurking in history, ultimately destroying them to ensure the healthy growth of human civilization.

Feeling the weight of this responsibility, he took a deep breath, his gaze hardening once more.

Having chosen to stand up, he would never back down.

The end of human civilization was 1,500 years away, a distant event that wouldn’t affect him personally. By the time doomsday arrived, he would long be resting in his grave, free to live out his life without worrying about the future’s calamities.

But he wasn’t that kind of person.

He believed that faced with the same dilemma, others would choose to fight back with the same unwavering resolve.

History proved this.

Star City had once nearly been swallowed by the encroaching Domain Field. Back then, a group of people had risen up, throwing themselves into the battle against the Domain Field without hesitation. Through countless sacrifices, they had driven back the encroaching Domain Field.

The peace and tranquility they now enjoyed in Star City had been forged by the lives of these heroic martyrs.

If everyone chose to retreat, humanity would have no future.

With this realization, he suddenly felt a heavy weight on his shoulders.

When he had first accessed the Star City Database, he had felt like he was standing on the shoulders of the future, while modern civilization developed on his own shoulders.

Now, he suddenly realized that the future was also standing on his shoulders.

Every action he took could influence the future, change the future.

Therefore, he carried the weight of an entire future!

Closing his notebook, he stepped onto the balcony and gazed up at the starry night sky, feeling the oppressive weight in his heart begin to ease.

A gentle breeze brushed his face, and as he savored the beauty of the tranquil moment, he grinned.

”I can–no, I will win !”

If the future wasn’t the one he had dreamed of, then he would reshape it into the future he envisioned.
