Apocalypse: My Tattoos are Ten Yama Kings

Just like the Second Elder of the Void Race said, they had no choice.

Either become Array Spirits and survive in the Returning Ruins.

Or face the complete extinction of their race, becoming a relic of the past.

At this moment, all members of the Void Race were visibly conflicted.

Life is precious, but freedom is of even greater value.

Is life without freedom truly worth living?

As all the members of the Void Race wore expressions of conflict, the chubby old man spoke like someone who had been through it all: ”Look on the bright side.”

”As long as you are alive, the Void Race still exists.”

”If you all perish, then the Void Race will truly disappear.”

”Moreover, countless years from now, the Void Race will be completely forgotten, and no one will remember you.”

Conviction.

At this moment, the people of the Void Race needed a belief to support them, one that would drive them to live on even if they lost their freedom.

To keep the Void Race going, so it wouldn’t face extinction, this was the belief of the Void Race’s Second Elder.

However, the ordinary members of the Void Race did not share such noble beliefs.

Because of this, the Void Race’s Second Elder gave the people a belief to become Array Spirits, to grow stronger, and to wait for disciples of Wa Huang, the Demon Lord, and the Buddha to come for revenge.

In truth, the Void Race’s Second Elder didn’t know whether Wa Huang, the Demon Lord, or the Buddha would send their disciples to find them.

But that didn’t matter.

For the people of the Void Race, having this hope, this notion, was what mattered most.

”We will listen to the Second Elder!”

”We are willing to become Array Spirits.”

”When those bastards come, we will surely make them pay.”

...

...

The people of the Void Race were no longer conflicted and responded to the call of the Void Race’s Second Elder, willing to become Array Spirits.

After the clan members expressed their positions, the Void Race’s Second Elder no longer hesitated. He looked towards the chubby old man and said, ”I ask the elder to teach us how to become Array Spirits.”

The chubby old man wasn’t stingy and taught the Secret Technique to become Array Spirits to the Void Race people without any reservations.

”To become Array Spirits, you must first disperse your power.”

”The energy you disperse, I will absorb it all as payment you give me.”

”Of course, in the future, any energy other people disperse within your arrays will be yours to absorb.”

”The energy dispersed outside the array will be mine to absorb.”

”Once you become Array Spirits, you coexist with the array. The stronger the array, the stronger the Array Spirit. And the way for an array to grow stronger is by absorbing energy.”

”There’s no more energy in the Returning Ruins to absorb, so you can only absorb what little energy seeps out.” The chubby old man laid everything out in the open without hiding anything.

At this moment, the chubby old man seemed just like a teacher instructing his students.

However, calling him a teacher instructing students isn’t entirely wrong.

The chubby old man, being the first Array Spirit in the Returning Ruins, taught the method for becoming Array Spirits to the Void Race’s Second Elder and others.

Once the entire Void Race became Array Spirits, they really were like the chubby old man’s students.

The Void Race’s Second Elder nodded repeatedly and said, ”Of course.”

”This is expected.”

The Void Race’s Second Elder understood and appreciated relationships.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch.

It certainly wouldn’t have been possible for the Void Race’s Second Elder to teach them the Secret Technique of becoming Array Spirits for nothing.

Just absorbing their dispersed energy is already an act of utmost benevolence.

Without the guidance of the chubby old man and the path he showed, the Void Race would have truly faced extinction as a whole.

Seeing no objections from the Void Race, the chubby old man nodded and said to the many members of the Void Race, ”There are countless arrays in the Returning Ruins, and you can go find yourself ones you like. Once you find an array, apply the secret technique I taught to merge into the array and become Array Spirits.”

”Go now!”

”Go now!”

The chubby old man waved his hand, dismissing the many members of the Void Race.

In the Returning Ruins, there were indeed many arrays, and the members of the Void Race becoming Array Spirits only occupied about two or three tenths of them.

”For countless years!”

”Finally some vitality has returned to the Returning Ruins.”

”Isn’t this also a kind of rebirth?”

”From amidst the silence, life has blossomed.” The chubby old man couldn’t help but sigh when the first member of the Void Race successfully integrated with an array to become an Array Spirit.

As the only surviving native of the Returning Ruins until now, the chubby old man seemed to have found a new path for the Returning Ruins.

Just as the Void Race’s Second Elder carved out a new path for the Void Race.

....

....

As time went by, members of the Void Race became Array Spirits within the arrays of the Returning Ruins, one after another.

At this time, the Buddha, Demon Lord, and Wa Huang were still waiting with their disciples, cluelessly.

”Buddha, they haven’t come out yet.”

”By this time, shouldn’t their energy have depleted, and they’ve suffocated in there?” The Demon Lord asked the Buddha.

After waiting for so long, the Demon Lord was growing impatient.

The Buddha nodded and said, ”Based on time, their energy indeed should have been completely exhausted.”

”If that’s the case, then why are we still waiting?”

”We should probably call it a day!” The Demon Lord called out to the Buddha.

However, the Buddha shook his head, somewhat puzzled, and said, ”Given what I know about the Void Race, their people prefer death over dishonor.”

”Logically, they wouldn’t wait until their energy is depleted but should have charged out to fight us instead.”

”I just find something amiss.”

Demon Lord: ”????”

The Demon Lord thought, ”You’ve said everything, and my brain is burning from processing all that.”

”What’s actually going on with the Void Race inside?”

”Just say it straight without beating around the bush,” the Demon Lord said impatiently.

Say it straight?

The Buddha shook his head and replied truthfully, ”To be honest, I’m not sure what’s happening inside right now either.”

At this point, the Buddha shifted his strategy: ”We’ll check it out ourselves whether they are alive or dead, let’s send our disciples inside to see.”

”No need to send too many disciples, just send some elite ones with our treasures into the Returning Ruins, at least they’d have some ability to protect themselves.”

The Buddha, Wa Huang, and the Demon Lord themselves once ventured into the void for exploration.

During their past adventures in the Returning Ruins, they faced many dangers and also acquired a lot of treasures.

Knowing the level of danger in the Returning Ruins, the Buddha made such arrangements.

If ordinary disciples entered, they would likely suffer heavy losses. Sending in elite disciples provided them some means of self-preservation.

Therefore, the Buddha sent Monk Fusheng, the Demon Lord sent Mo Ke, and initially, Wa Huang sent the Peacock Great Ming King.

However, Nato worried about the safety of the Peacock Great Ming King and insisted on accompanying, so Wa Huang had no choice but to agree, eventually sending both of them at once.
