Chapter 795: Chapter 796: The Challenge of the Medicine Sect

At this moment, in a church in Zhonghai City, a blonde youth clad in a black robe had a gloomy look in his eyes.

”Who exactly is it that killed the Viscount?”

Just then, a figure in black knelt to the ground with a thump: ”Lord Alka, it was a young man named Lin Chen. According to our intelligence, he is an adviser to the Huaxia Dragon Group.”

”Damn it, daring to oppose our vampire clan is simply courting death.”

”Lord Alka, what should we do now?” the vampire clansman’s voice trembled.

”Hmph! I’ll go and take that kid’s life to avenge my brother first. He dares to kill my brother, Lord Alka. I will make sure he dies a miserable death,” Alka said as he smashed his fist on the table, instantly splitting the solid wood table in two.

After saying goodbye to several pretty young women, Lin Chen was preparing to go home, when Mu Yusen’s call came through.

”Mr. Lin, could you please come to the Mu residence?”

”Is something the matter?” Lin Chen asked curiously, hearing Mu Yusen’s somewhat anxious voice.

”Yes, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you in person,” Mu Yusen said solemnly.

”Alright, I’ll come over now,” Lin Chen nodded and said.

Lin Chen had just arrived at the Hundred Herbs Hall Building when Mu Feng was already waiting at the main entrance.

Mu Feng also had a solemn look on his face and quickened his pace to meet Lin Chen: ”Mr. Lin, this way please, my father is waiting for you upstairs.”

Lin Chen followed Mu Feng onto the private elevator, heading straight to the chairman’s office.

Seeing Lin Chen, Mu Yusen quickly stood up: ”Mr. Lin, you’ve finally arrived.”

Lin Chen asked somewhat perplexed: ”Mr. Mu, what’s so urgent that you needed to see me?”

Mu Yusen’s face showed an expression of difficulty: ”Mr. Lin, I won’t conceal it from you, this time I am seeking your help.”

”Seeking my help? Mr. Mu, there’s no need for such formality. What exactly is the matter?” Lin Chen was very curious, wondering what could possibly be the issue that even Mr. Mu, who could turn the tides in Zhonghai City, couldn’t solve.

Mu Yusen said gravely: ”Mr. Lin, this matter concerns the future fate of our Mu family and the Hundred Herbs Hall. I need your help no matter what.”

After listening to Mu Yusen’s explanation, Lin Chen finally understood.

It turned out Mu Yusen was once a disciple of the hidden Huaxia sect, Medicine Sect. Having lost in the inner court competition, he had no choice but to return to Zhonghai and open the Hundred Herbs Hall.

However, just yesterday, people from the Medicine Sect suddenly came with intentions to acquire the Hundred Herbs Hall, and the person behind the acquisition was his junior fellow disciple, Yue Qun.

If it had been someone else, perhaps Mu Yusen would have considered it, but although the two were senior and junior fellow disciples, there was a deep-seated grudge between them.

Back then, during the inner court contest, Mu Yusen was more skilled, but in the final alchemy test, Yue Qun bribed an examiner to mix inferior herbs into Mu Yusen’s medicine, resulting in Mu Yusen’s failure in alchemy and loss of the chance to enter the inner court.

This event was revealed to him by a fellow sect brother after he left the Medicine Sect, but because there was no evidence, he had to let it go.

Now, more than twenty years had passed, and Yue Qun’s cultivation had already surpassed Mu Yusen, becoming an elder of the Medicine Sect. However, for some reason, he had set his sights on the Hundred Herbs Hall, and naturally, Mu Yusen would not agree to simply hand over his decades of hard work.

But because there were sect rules that allowed the Medicine Sect to take back everything a disciple achieved in the future, Mu Yusen had no choice but to make a wager with Yue Qun, letting the younger generation compete in medical expertise to decide the ownership of the Hundred Herbs Hall.

”So that’s how it is!” Lin Chen nodded and said.

Mu Yusen continued, ”Originally, I wanted Feng’er to enter the battle, but I later heard that the representative from Yue Qun is actually a pharmacy genius. Being just over twenty and already a four-star Pharmacist, Feng’er stands no chance against him, so I had no choice but to seek Mr. Lin’s assistance.”

Although Mu Yusen could not discern Lin Chen’s cultivation level, Lin Chen gave him the impression of being unfathomably deep. He had a feeling that if Lin Chen took action, he could definitely help him overcome this difficulty.

Mu Yusen’s gaze was fixed firmly on Lin Chen: ”Mr. Lin, as long as you help our Mu family through this difficulty and protect Hundred Herbs Hall, our family will be eternally grateful to you and will follow your lead.”

Looking into Mu Yusen’s sincere eyes, Lin Chen nodded: ”Old Mu, I can help with this favor, but as for winning, I can’t guarantee that. All I can say is that I will give it my all.”

Upon hearing Lin Chen’s words, a look of wild joy appeared on Mu Yusen’s face: ”As long as Mr. Lin is willing to stand up for us, win or lose, you are a benefactor of our Mu family.”

”When is the competition?” Lin Chen asked.

Mu Yusen replied, ”Tomorrow morning at nine o’clock.”

Lin Chen asked, ”Is the competition about alchemy or healing?”

Mu Yusen shook his head: ”The test is organized by the inner court elders, and the content of the competition will be decided by drawing lots on the spot.”

Lin Chen nodded, ”Alright, I will come over tomorrow morning to meet that genius from the pharmacy sect.”

After parting with the Mu family’s disciples, Lin Chen’s expression grew more solemn; the pharmacy sect’s sudden intervention in Zhonghai might very well be aimed at the Flower of Life.

Now that various powers were gradually revealing themselves, Lin Chen felt the pressure on him growing ever greater.

Since the quadrangle dwelling was no longer safe, Lin Chen had moved to a newly purchased villa.

Lin Chen returned home to find Li Fuyou and Li Yuqing still busy preparing at the base and had not come back.

Opening the refrigerator, Lin Chen grabbed a bottle of cola. With one sip, he felt an instant refreshment throughout his body.

However, Lin Chen had just sat down on the couch when he suddenly felt a tingling weakness throughout his body.

It was then that a shadowy figure with a ghastly demeanor slowly emerged from behind the curtains.

Seeing the person who came out, Lin Chen’s gaze slightly sharpened: ”Are you from the blood clan?”

Elka’s eyes glinted with ferocity: ”You think you can get away with killing my brother? Today I’m going to kill you to avenge him.”

Lin Chen coldly scoffed, ”With just you?”

This Elka was also at the Cloud Sea realm in terms of cultivation, but Lin Chen was no longer the Alchemy Essence realm cultivator he had been; even though Elka was strong, Lin Chen showed no fear on his face.

Elka’s face twisted into a vicious smile: ”Impressive, you’ve advanced to the Cloud Sea realm so quickly. But do you really think I’m going to fight you fair and square?”

Lin Chen, just as he was about to stand up, collapsed back onto the sofa with a thud.

”What have you done?” Lin Chen clutched his chest, panic stricken.

Elka’s eyes held a mocking expression: ”I’ve released Revival Powder in this room. Now, no matter how capable you are, if you’re poisoned by me, you can’t use your powers.”

”You bastard!” Lin Chen’s eyes flashed with anger.

”Oh, yes. This poison has a peculiar feature. Once poisoned, you must have the opposite sex help you detoxify, or even gods can’t save you. You’ll rot all over and die a miserable death,” Elka said with a wicked smile on his face.

Saying this, Elka, with a cold sneer, slowly approached Lin Chen: ”I’m going to break all the tendons in your body, so you die painfully in a worse-than-death state.”
