Chapter 778: Chapter 779: The Coach’s Confrontation

Lin Chen was about to start training when Yin Fengzhu led the former basketball team members onto the court.

”Sorry, you are no longer members of the basketball team, so you don’t have the right to enter the court,” Lin Chen said indifferently.

At this moment, a middle-aged teacher snorted coldly, ”Who do you think you are, kid? You really think you’re a basketball coach now?”

Lin Chen smiled lightly, ”As far as I know, it was you who resigned on your own accord, right? To be a coach led by the nose by a player, I truly feel sad for you.”

”What nonsense are you talking about?” Xiao Qiang said angrily.

”Alright, how about this, let’s play a game, and whoever loses will take their players and leave the court,” Lin Chen suggested calmly.

After hearing Lin Chen’s words, Xiao Qiang snorted coldly, ”What gives you the right to make a bet with me? You have nothing to do with Zhonghai University.”

”Is that so? Wait a moment,” Lin Chen replied as he made a phone call.

”Hello, this is Lin Chen. I want to become the head coach of the Zhonghai University basketball team,” Lin Chen spoke calmly.

”Alright, it will be done immediately,” Anna’s voice came through on the other end.

Seeing Lin Chen’s composed demeanor, Xiao Qiang sneered, ”Who do you think you are? Do you think you can just become a basketball coach whenever you want?”

Yin Fengzhu snorted coldly, ”Coach Xiao was nominated by my father at the board of directors. Who do you really think you are, that a single phone call can make you the coach of Zhonghai University’s basketball team?”

Lin Chen smiled lightly, ”The answer will be revealed very soon.”

Soon, Xiao Qiang’s phone rang, and as he answered the call, he was stunned—it was from the president of Zhonghai University.

”President Wang, do you need something from me?” Xiao Qiang asked ingratiatingly.

”You are fired. Lin Chen is now the coach of the Zhonghai University basketball team,” a cold voice came from the phone.

”What? President Wang, I...” Xiao Qiang tried to explain, but the call had already been ended.

Xiao Qiang held the phone dumbfounded, his eyes shifting to Lin Chen who was watching him with a mocking expression, and he felt a surge of fear.

”Who is this guy? Just one phone call and I’m out on my ear!”

But Xiao Qiang was not willing to give up. With a cold glare, he said to Lin Chen, ”You just wanted to have a match with me, right?”

Lin Chen nodded, ”Of course!”

”Good, I’ll show you what the level of a professional player is,” a cold light flickered in Xiao Qiang’s eyes.

Xiao Qiang had once been a player for the Huaxia national men’s basketball team. Although he was a substitute, he did have the reputation of the national team, so his abilities were certainly not weak.

Despite being recently fired, he was determined to give Lin Chen a good thrashing to vent his frustration.

The two of them stepped onto the basketball court, with players from both sides surrounding them.

Lin Chen casually picked up a basketball and walked over.

Jiang Qian whispered to Lin Chen, ”Be careful, Lin Chen. Coach Xiao used to be a player on the national basketball team.”

Lin Chen scoffed, ”I’ve even toyed with active NBA players, let alone a retired one.”

Xiao Qiang watched Lin Chen with a mocking look, ”Young man, you should feel honored to match moves with a former player of the national team.”

Seeing Xiao Qiang’s smug expression, Lin Chen laughed, ”After all, I’m just an amateur, so please go easy on me, Coach Xiao!”

The match began, and Lin Chen dribbled the basketball slowly towards Xiao Qiang.

Watching Lin Chen’s movements, Xiao Qiang’s mouth curled into a smirk of disdain.

Basketball players need to maintain a bent posture while dribbling, making it easier to change direction and execute the next move.

But Lin Chen, he looked just like an amateur who had just started playing basketball.

”The ball’s mine now, kid,” Xiao Qiang snorted and dashed out like lightning, reaching for the basketball in Lin Chen’s hand.

However, just as Xiao Qiang’s hand was about to hook the ball, he suddenly realized that the ball had vanished before his eyes.

And somehow, Lin Chen had already moved to his back.

”How is this possible!”

Xiao Qiang was instantly dumbfounded. Just now, he hadn’t seen Lin Chen’s move at all. His opponent seemed to have passed him with the ball out of thin air.

What rendered Xiao Qiang speechless was that Lin Chen hadn’t even looked at the basket but was smiling at him, tossing the ball casually.

Swish!

The basketball accurately entered the basket.

”This!”

Lin Chen’s move left him speechless, to score without looking and with a casual throw of the ball was simply too unbelievable.

”Go Coach Lin, go Coach Lin!”

Seeing Lin Chen’s cool move, Wang Zixuan and the others excitedly jumped up.

Xiao Qiang picked up the basketball from the ground, his gaze fixed on Lin Chen with a cold intensity.

This time it was Xiao Qiang’s turn to attack, and Lin Chen’s to defend.

Xiao Qiang skillfully dribbled the ball, weaving it through his legs as he slowly approached Lin Chen.

However, Lin Chen just stood there like a wooden stake, without even making a defensive move, and wore an expression that didn’t take Xiao Qiang seriously at all.

”Dare to look down on me, let me show you what I can do,” Xiao Qiang snorted coldly, his body feinting beautifully, pulling off a seamless dribble.

Lin Chen still stood dumbfounded in place, and as Xiao Qiang brushed past Lin Chen, a smug smile appeared on Xiao Qiang’s face. He was convinced he had won this round.

But when he had gotten past Lin Chen, he sadly discovered that while he had made it past, the ball had not.

”Are you looking for this?” Lin Chen asked, toying with the basketball in his hand with a smile.

”I...” Xiao Qiang was almost stupefied. His move had been textbook-level, and he was certain he had seen the ball pass under Lin Chen’s legs. How could it have been intercepted again!

”Let me teach you what a real dribble is all about!”

Lin Chen said with a faint smile, his footwork shifting.

At first, Xiao Qiang could still make out the changes in Lin Chen’s steps, but they soon became a blur.

By the time he realized what was happening, Lin Chen had already leapt high into the air.

”Boom!”

A powerful dunk sent the ball crashing into the basket.

”Coach Lin, we love you, you’re just too cool!”

”I won’t obsess over young idols anymore, you’re my role model.”

The eight beauties behind him cheered and shouted.

Lin Chen picked up the basketball from the ground and said with a light smile, ”Coach Xiao, shall we continue?”

”Continue!” Xiao Qiang gritted his teeth and said.

This time, Xiao Qiang attacked first, carrying the ball with a flash of coldness in his eyes.

Xiao Qiang was 1.9 meters tall with a burly frame, whereas Lin Chen was 1.8 meters tall and slim.

”You’ve got skill, kid, but I’ll knock you down,” Xiao Qiang said, barreling towards Lin Chen with the ball.

”Be careful, Coach Lin!” Seeing Xiao Qiang’s action, the eight girls’ faces suddenly changed.

Xiao Qiang’s charge was directly at the person; he was clearly fouling. His goal wasn’t to get past Lin Chen but to knock him over.

”Bang!” Their bodies collided.

A cold smile flashed across Yin Fengzhu’s eyes, certain that with Xiao Qiang’s build, Lin Chen would definitely get hurt from the impact.

The eight girls couldn’t help but close their eyes.

”Bang!”

Accompanied by a dull thud, a silhouette was sent flying and crashed heavily onto the ground.
