Chapter 751: Chapter 752: The Promise of a Needle (Third Update)

Su Wan knelt down with a thud in front of Lin Chen and the others, ”My benefactors, thank you. If my mother is saved, I am willing to serve you like an ox or horse in return.”

”Please, don’t do this!” Lin Chen hurriedly helped Su Wan up.

Driving a Mercedes-Benz, Lin Chen and the group arrived at Zhonghai Hospital.

Li Fuyou, along with Lin Chen and the others, came to the dean’s office and knocked on the door. From inside came a voice, ”Come in!”

The group pushed the door open and entered, only to see a middle-aged man in a white lab coat sitting inside and reading a newspaper.

The dean’s office was very imposing, and the dean himself looked rather well-fed, clearly having reaped considerable benefits from his position.

Li Fuyou stepped forward and said to the dean, ”Tian Wei, do you remember me? I’m Li Fuyou, your master.”

Tian Wei looked up, startled at first, then smiled, but he did not stand up and said indifferently, ”Well, if it isn’t Old Li? Long time no see. My, you really have aged. I heard you’re not doing so well, are you?”

Lin Chen frowned upon hearing Tian Wei’s sarcastic tone.

Li Fuyou’s expression also darkened, but since he was there to ask for a favor, he smiled and said, ”I’m doing alright. Dean Tian, I’ve come to ask you for a favor.”

Upon hearing Li Fuyou’s words, Tian Wei smiled faintly, ”Oh, Master, you too have times when you need to ask for help. I remember you once said I wouldn’t amount to much. Look at your pupil now, capable and successful. Bet you didn’t expect that.”

The sarcasm in Tian Wei’s voice was nearly enough to anger Lin Chen. However, Li Fuyou, glancing at Tian Wei, still suppressed the anger in his heart and said, ”What I said back then was for your own good; I hoped you would focus more on your profession.”

Li Fuyou lit a cigarette and said disdainfully, ”Old Li, after so many setbacks, you still haven’t figured it out? In today’s world, it’s not just ability that gets you ahead. Master, with all your skills, aren’t you still running a little clinic that no one visits?”

Now Li Fuyou grew angry as well and said coldly, ”Tian Wei, I didn’t come here this time for myself, it´s for a patient. Su Wan is in college, and her mother was hit by a car and has a cerebral hemorrhage. I know our hospital has these green channel quotas every year. Could you please give her one?”

Upon hearing Li Fuyou’s words, Tian Wei took on a bureaucratic tone, ”Old Li, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, but we really don’t have many green channel quotas to begin with, and this year we’ve only got one left. Besides, the higher-ups have just given orders; I really can’t help you here.”

”Oh, is that so?” Li Fuyou sighed upon hearing Tian Wei’s words.

However, Lin Chen saw through the lie in Tian Wei’s eyes; there were quotas left, he was just deceiving them.

Lin Chen snorted coldly, ”Dean Tian, I’m truly saddened for you. As a doctor, having discarded medical ethics, you’ve managed to climb to the position of dean. Do you think without your quota we’d have no other options? I’m telling you, it’s just a cerebral hemorrhage. It’s not a big deal. If you won’t treat her, I will. Also, although Uncle Li runs a small clinic, rest assured, it won’t be long before his reputation surpasses that of your so-called Zhonghai People’s Hospital by a hundred times.”

Laughing at Lin Chen’s words, Tian Wei said, ”What joke is this, kid? His little outpatient clinic at the urban-rural fringe better than my big hospital? Since that’s what you say, by noon today, either pay up or leave the hospital. Our hospital is not some charity.”

With a cold huff, Lin Chen strode toward Tian Wei.

”What, what are you doing?” Seeing the murderous look on Lin Chen’s face, Tian Wei’s complexion suddenly changed.

Li Fuyou, worried that Lin Chen might do something rash, quickly said, ”Lin Chen, don’t be impulsive.”

But all Lin Chen did was pat Tian Wei on the shoulder, ”Young man, remember to visit the ward later. I’ll show you what real medical skill is.”

Turning to Li Fuyou, Lin Chen said, ”Let’s go, Uncle Li.”

After leaving the director’s office, Li Fuyou’s face was very unsightly.

After all, Tian Wei was his apprentice. Although he sometimes criticized him, it was all for his own good. He never expected Tian Wei to harbor such hatred for him.

”Uncle Li, rest assured, I will make him kneel and apologize to you,” Lin Chen said with a smile.

Sitting in the room, Tian Wei snorted coldly, ”Who do you think you are? You can cure intracranial hemorrhage? Why don’t you take my head off and try?”

Just then, he suddenly felt a slight itch on his shoulder but didn’t pay much attention to it.

At this moment, Lin Chen and his group had already arrived at the ward.

Lin Chen looked at Su Wan’s mother lying in the ward and smiled, ”Don’t worry, her condition is not that serious, I can treat her.”

”What? Not serious?” Su Wan was stunned upon hearing Lin Chen’s words.

Su Wan’s mother had been lying in the hospital for half a month in a deep coma, and Lin Chen was actually saying it wasn’t serious.

Lin Chen smiled, took out a silver needle, and said with a smile, ”I’ll give her an acupuncture, and she’ll be fine.”

”Really?” Su Wan looked at Lin Chen with some distrust.

Li Fuyou was also holding onto Lin Chen’s arm and asked in a soft voice, ”Xiao Chen, are you confident? Intracranial hemorrhage is a very tricky illness.”

”Don’t worry, Uncle Li, no one dares to encase porcelain without having a diamond drill. Just watch!” Lin Chen said with a smile.

Just as Lin Chen was about to give acupuncture to Su Wan’s mother, a stern voice suddenly rang out behind him.

”Stop! Who are you, and who let you touch my patient?” Zhao Lili asked coldly.

Lin Chen’s hand with the needle paused in mid-air, glanced at the female doctor behind him, and responded indifferently, ”To turn such a minor illness into a costly surgery that endangers a patient’s life is simply reckless.”

”What nonsense are you talking about? This patient has an intracranial hemorrhage. If it weren’t for our hospital’s treatment, she would have died long ago. Yet, you say it’s a minor illness. Don’t you know that intracranial hemorrhage is a challenge for the medical world?” Zhao Lili said, giving Lin Chen a disdainful look.

Lin Chen smiled faintly, ”That’s because your medical skills are too poor. Treating such a disease, one needle from me is enough.”

”What are you saying, you can cure her disease with one needle? Do you think you’re Bian Que or Hua Tuo? Even if they came, it wouldn’t work. It’s the era of Western medicine now, traditional Chinese medicine is outdated,” Zhao Lili said with a cold snort.

Zhao Lili was a Ph.D. student from Stanford Medical School. Having been deeply educated in Western medicine for many years, she inherently looked down on traditional Chinese medicine.

Lin Chen replied with a smile, ”How about this, beautiful, let’s make a bet. If I can cure her with one needle, you give me a kiss. If I can’t, you can do whatever you want with me.”

Zhao Lili sneered, ”Fine. Remember, you said it yourself, no regrets. If you lose, you will have to pierce your Xuantong point with a needle.”

”Xuantong point? Damn, this girl is too cruel. That’s the most vulnerable spot for a man. Getting pierced there means continuous farting, and it wouldn’t stop for at least an hour.”

Lin Chen nodded, ”Okay, it’s a bet!”
