Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Only the old ones from back in the day would be so ’disrespectful’ to Gao Gong.

Xiaoju, the genius mecha girl, back when Gao Gong rescued them from Professor Han, this little girl was still with a runny nose and wearing crotchless pants, bold as brass, and would smack a little woman’s butt hard for two pieces of candy, a wild lass.

Gao Gong often conned her into doing such mischievous things.

Xiaoju didn’t think of Gao Gong as an outsider at all; no matter how powerful the consultant was, he was still the consultant of our Cable Tribe.

”Didn’t expect you guys to come.”

Gao Gong looked at the two of them with some surprise, the one on the left, clad in thick green armor, with biological blade limbs faintly visible at every joint, the evil qi nearly taking a solid form around him.

As for the one on the right, very little biological armor on her, revealing her curvy figure, big spider butt, and the eight spider needles on her back, covered in webs, with enthralling crimson eyes.

Tamil and Daisila, backbone of the Hunter Camp, drivers of the Reaper Module and Spider Module respectively.

”President Du went to the Mother City for a meeting. She’s very powerful now and doesn’t need my protection anymore. Just happened to have this opportunity, so I came.”

Daisila stretched lazily; maybe it was an illusion, but she seemed increasingly feminine, constantly exuding female hormones, enticing outsiders.

However, Gao Gong understood it was just an illusion; this lady was into both men and women, in both the literal sense of eating and being with them.

”Always serving the leader!!!” The one next to her puffed out his chest with pride, just shy of saluting.

No need to mention Tamil, a typical fanatic, probably insisted on coming.

Having not seen them for over a month, both had leveled up again, Daisila to level 29, Tamil to level 27, both with standard elite templates, automatically generating Hunter Talents, with a certain chance of awakening the Leader Template.

[Cyber Realm] is different from other games in that leveling up is relatively easy, but body modifications and filling out the technology tree are the hard parts.

Gao Gong’s route was equivalent to climbing dual technology trees, getting surrounded from left, right, and center, making it particularly tough to level up.

Even his subordinates were leveling up faster than he was.

”This is from Professor Han for you.”

Daisila solemnly took out a combination lock box, entered a ten-digit password, and after a creak, the door opened, and thick icy fog poured out of the box.

Inside the box, ten test tubes lay neatly arranged.

”These are the genetic medicines we configured by hunting marine species along the coast, extracting the most precious genes, to match your physical condition, Professor Han specially increased the dosage.”

Gao Gong curiously took out one tube.

[King Squid cells, B+ level marine beast, can significantly enhance physical strength upon implantation and has a certain chance of awakening tentacles]

[Volcanic Fungus Species, a special radiation fungus, a mutated species extracted from an underwater volcano crater, possessing strong survivability, able to reproduce even at 3000 degrees]

[Sulfur Giant Whale, an ancient marine species, originally a giant whale of the deep, mutated due to massive radiation, its body contains radiation comparable to nuclear amounts; when a whale falls, all life perishes]

...

Gao Gong inspected the ten tubes of genetic extraction liquid, nodding in satisfaction.

”Looks like you all haven’t been idle these days.”

Tamil rushed to explain, ”Not only that, our genetic library established in the ancient battlefield is already in the closing stages, with large quantities of Radiation Beast and Mechanical Beast genes already sent in for storage.”

Gao Gong glanced at the system panel, finding the second task of the Biologist Second Transformation, ’Genetic Preservation Library’, had already reached 67%, indicating a not-too-slow growth.

This is the perk of establishing a camp; some transition tasks don’t need to be done yourself, as long as delegated, someone will naturally help you complete them.

And once the task is completed, you can also use cutting-edge mechanical technology and biotechnology to reciprocate to the camp, achieving a positive cycle.

Once the Prosthetic Doctor and Biologist professions transition, Gao Gong can focus on his second purpose in Nightless City.

Biological/Mechanical Transformation.

Or say, Combat Transformation.

Some professional knowledge of Level 2 Civilizations, and technology blueprints above level 5 are only available in a high-level map like Nightless City.

’The two transition tasks are about there, but this Biologist’s final task, ’Conduct a Large-scale Biological Experiment’, needs a good opportunity to be inserted.’

Large-scale experiments can only be financially undertaken by corporations, small group experiments covered by something like the Evil Gang, involving tens of thousands of people, that completely fails to meet system standards.

Gao Gong hadn’t met his lackeys for a long while, had plenty to say; chatted a bit about what silly things Fat Xiang had done, like marrying eight virtual wives, leading Aunt Xiang to beat him up daily, or how Flame Pass had eradicated several warlords, liberating how many slaves, and how fiercely General Quel fought, and so forth.

In the midst of the animated conversation, a head bobbed around on Gao Gong’s desk, jumping here and there. Gao Gong lowered his gaze and realized it was Matsushima Keiko.

Little figure almost went unnoticed.

”I heard you’ve got a girl under you who seriously injured Kobayashi Hideyuki, is it true?” Keiko’s tone was laced with schadenfreude.

”Oh, that did happen,” Gao Gong looked at Matsushima Keiko, remembering: ”By the way, both you and Daisila are from the Sub-human Continent, right? Do you know him?”

Matsushima Keiko pouted, ”That guy’s from a big family, with eyes set high, doesn’t think much of us little family members, humph! Serves him right for offending a big baddie like you, let’s see if he still dares to be so arrogant in the future!”

Gao Gong ’hmm’ed, tugging on her pigtail, while saying: ”So you two returned this time to bask in glory?”

”Of course!”

Daisila immediately exposed, ”I do have some things to go home for, but she’s different. Fat Xiang would rather marry eight virtual wives than marry her, that girl ran away in a fit of pique.”

”Hohoho, that dead otaku Fat Xiang, he’s got character, I like it! I’ll make him another wife later!”

Matsushima Keiko furiously jumped over to bite Gao Gong, but he easily dodged her.

Daisila shook her head helplessly, but her expression gradually turned serious.

”I actually came with some bad news this time—we found traces of the Knight Order near the coast. They seem to have a new leader. Judging by the signs, it looks like they’re planning to target the Iron Sand Desert again.”

”Is that so.”

Gao Gong let go of his ponytail and crossed his arms in thought.

Unlike other waves in the Cyber Wave, the Knight Order, or the Beast Mechanical Disaster, is a storyline that runs throughout.

Its specific manifestation is the continuous creation of super monsters that dominate sea, land, and air, used to attack Mechanical Cities everywhere, even tearing the continent apart.

So if you suddenly see in some news, a super monster several hundred meters tall, level 70 or 80, coming out of nowhere, no need to ask, it’s definitely the Knight Order’s doing.

So the other side won’t let Nightless City off, or rather, they won’t give up this 9-3 Guanzhong Plate. Gao Gong actually anticipated it.

If they can’t start a Beast Tide from the inside, then they’re preparing to summon monsters from the outside for a strong attack.

Just right, I was worrying about what big storyline to find for players after Nightless City.

Players are like huskies; if you don’t find them something to do, they’ll test to see if you can light up their health bar.

”No worries, they do their thing, we do ours.”

Gao Gong looked at Xiaoju again and asked, ”How many mechas did you bring? Why do I only see you as a mecha pilot?”

”Hehe,” Xiaoju puffed out her otherwise unremarkable chest, ”Advisor, you can’t underestimate me now. I can even take apprentices, Gao Da! Where the hell are you?”

A bald, fair-skinned man darted in from outside, rubbing his bald head and grinning at everyone, ”Hello, boss, hello! This must be the great advisor, I’m Gao Da, pilot of the second mecha.”

Gao Gong gave a meaningful look.

Oh, it’s you, the forum talker.

”Is he up to it?” Gao Gong asked deliberately.

”Why wouldn’t he be? I trained him!” Xiaoju was displeased.

Him sneaking around building loli affection, why not post that on the forum.

Gao Gong squinted and suddenly smiled, ”I see you’re looking around, do you want to go down and mingle with my new subordinates?”

”No need, no need,” Gao Da waved his hands in the air, showing an embarrassed smile, ”Advisor boss, to be honest, I’m low-key, I just run mechas and stuff. I’ll greet these play... ahem, little partners on the battlefield tomorrow.”

Oh, you want to show off in front of others, I get it!

The reason for scheduling the decisive battle for tomorrow, or rather taking a deliberate one-day ceasefire, is mainly that after three days, this group of 4th Celestial Calamity will ’refresh’ again.

Gao Jin probably never dreamed that this group of dead people could come back to life.

In advanced civilizations, revival is not a rare thing. Which member of an advanced civilization doesn’t have dozens of lives.

This also leads to a kind of cognitive confusion among players in the late game—are you the players, or are we the players? How come your revival speed is faster than ours?

You’re the calamities, aren’t you!?

But in Planet Civilizations, such revival is very rare.

Even the strong advanced AI, after swapping to a new body, would lose a portion of their source code, falling into a severely injured state. If a Cyber Hacker hacked the database at this time, no amount of avatars would help.

...

After Gao Da logged off, he quickly went to the forum and posted a very special picture. In the picture, a pure white mecha was being assembled.

Below it was a sentence—

’I don’t want to fight, but some things must be upheld through battle, so I must fight!’

Below were a series of comments.

’When did Brother Da change his profession to Riddler?’

’Brother Da, take me with you, Brother Da!’

’Upstairs, you’re ruthless!’

’The OP is fixing mechas again, what’s the point of constantly fixing mechas? You might as well guard the gate like me.’

’Security brother, take me with you too~’
