Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Not disturbing Gao Yuanyuan, Gao Gong voluntarily logged out of the Brain Disc.

For now, Gao Yuanyuan is busy, so she won’t be bored enough to mess with my personality, like adding a ’sister complex’ attribute or something.

Milf-chasing is the true path!

...

Red Leaf Street, two gangs are having a street war.

Ever since the Mechanic’s descent, the Nightless City Council announced the issuance of three additional ’Peacekeeper’ licenses, and the whole Outer City District went ballistic.

Street wars are happening non-stop.

Right now, in the small group Sister Ji pulled together, Sister Ji is recruiting people everywhere.

’@I Love Eating Buns, @I am a Big Muscle Dominator, @Red Flower Demon, @Plane, got a mission, bodyguard mission, come quick!’

’Sister Ji, no time, I’m doing a gang mission.’ Red Flower Demon chimed in.

’Same here, Sister Ji, been brawling every day lately, it’s been a blast.’

Plane typed while snapping a selfie. His electronic mohawk was strikingly conspicuous, changing colors with his mood.

’You’re doing those pointless modifications again.’ Sister Ji jeered.

’Whether strong or not is a matter of the version, but looking cool is a lifetime affair. I’m planning to get a holographic projection of Lord Guan in a few days to celebrate successfully joining the Welfare Gang!’ Plane

’Oh, you made the career shift successfully?’

’Not just me, Little Muscle and Red Flower Demon also succeeded, now we’re official Welfare Gang members.’

’You all joined the same gang? Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, young ones. How will you perform Internal Affairs later?’ Sister Ji chastised.

’Hehe, Sister Ji, don’t be mad. We did our research; most official gang members only get one driving talent and one fighting skill after a shift, plus a gang-exclusive prosthetic modification (which might not even be). But joining the Welfare Gang gives you an extra exclusive mechanical art that boosts prosthetic efficiency by 7%. It might not seem much, but as the number of prosthetics increases, this skill’s boost is comparable to ’Advanced Talent’.’

’Compared to other gang-exclusive modifications, this is the best bang for your buck.’

Sister Ji rolled her eyes endlessly.

’I don’t care whether you’re strong or not. Right now, what matters is someone needs to take my mission. You have time to type, but not to help?’

’Sister Ji, he charged too fast while brawling with someone and got killed. Now he’s waiting for a respawn,’ Baozi sent a schadenfreude emoji.

’Damn it, Brother Bao, how did you know about this?’

’@I Love Eating Buns, he died but you didn’t? Come be my muscle!’ Sister Ji.

Baozi sent an awkward smile emoji.

’Sister Ji, they’re busy, I’m busy too. Business has been booming these days; either gangs come to repair prosthetics or replace them. My basic maintenance is about full, and the boss taught me a second skill—’Prosthetic Maintenance’. I reckon soon I can shift to being a Prosthetic Doctor, by then, I’ll give you all an 80% discount.’

’Show-off, such a blatant show-off! Drawing a curse circle on you!’

’Don’t come to me for prosthetic maintenance in the future.’

’Dad! I was wrong!’ Plane immediately admitted defeat.

’@Sister Ji, I’ll take this task, send me the address.’ Hei Bing No. 2.

’Second Brother always comes through,’ Sister Ji sent a thumbs-up emoji.

’...’

Eventually, Sister Ji recruited two new faces for the mission, one called ’Gold Miner’, and the other ’Mr. Taichiro’. Both are high-end players above Level 6, just one step from career shifting.

Worth mentioning, their jobs are quite interesting; the former works at a Nightless City landfill, dealing with human parts, sometimes scoring some well-performing prosthetics. The latter is a ’dispatch worker’, not yet shifted corporate worker, working at an organ trading company. His main task is collecting corpses to amass points for a career shift.

’@PP Boss, why haven’t you shown up recently, you don’t even fight anymore.’

Plane, bored after getting killed, looked around for someone to chat with.

’Don’t mention it, it’s tax season. The company is pushing us hard every day, no time to get out.’

’You’re already working 007, how much more can you work?’ Plane was confused.

’Naive, do you know about ’Brain Area Functional Development’, ’Virtual Machine Development’, or ’Thought Software Development’?’

’No clue but sounds awesome! What does it mean?’

’’Brain Area Functional Development’ assigns different brain regions to different projects, one person doing the work of seven or eight.’

’’Virtual Machine Development’ is putting your mind in a virtual machine, where time flows ten times faster. Ten hours in there equals one hour in real life.’

’As for ’Thought Software Development’, it’s about removing all your emotions, transforming you into an auto-programming software so you can keep working and working and working…’

’Working eternally!’

PP Boss sent a photo where Pretty Sheep had dark circles, a bleak smile, looking ready to become a wisp of smoke.

’Honestly, if it weren’t for my love of being a Neural Editor and that these tasks provide enough experience, I would’ve suicided and switched accounts long ago.’

’PP, take care. If it gets too much, just idle,’ Sister Ji advised with concern.

’No, Sister Ji, I can keep going. I must become the first Neuro Transformer!’

’Got to go. My neighbor just jumped out the window, so I’m taking over his tasks.’

’Time to apply for the ’Workaholic’ personality chip.’

’...’ Plane

’...’ I Love Eating Buns

’...’ Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella

’Oh, Brother Umbrella, you here?’ Plane

’Brother Umbrella, what have you been up to lately?’ Plane

’No need to ask. Definitely walking in the night, killing invisibly. Long night coming, from now I shall watch forever, until death ends. No wives, no lands, no sons. No crowns, no glory. Only loyalty and duty…’ Plane

[Player ’Plane’ has been muted for one hour]

’You talk too much.’ Sister Ji

’But Brother Umbrella must indeed be on some high-end assassin mission,’ Baozi agreed.

’Exactly, it’s an assassin, the only high-class profession among players now—so cool, I’m envious!’ Sister Ji.

’Same here’ Master of Fishing

’Same here’ Wandering Trojan

Two more small players chimed in as the bigwigs in the group heaped praise on each other.

’...humbly undeserved’

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella sighed softly; only in the player group could he regain lost dignity and shattered integrity.

At the moment, in a changing room

A middle-aged woman coldly reprimanded: ”If you rank last again in the third roadshow, I regret to inform you, you will become an eliminated assassin group.”

After the woman slammed the door and left, a gender-ambiguous manager sashayed over, giggling, ”Boys, don’t be disheartened. As long as we boost the ratings of this talent show, they won’t dare touch us.”

”Sister Jiaojiao, do you have a plan?” a group member asked excitedly.

”We go the sexy route!”

When thongs, masks, whips, and bondage gear appeared in front of him, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella quickly understood what ’going the sexy route’ meant.
