Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Kun City Suburb.

The ground trembled as a convoy traveled along the ring road; this convoy was none other than Li Yu and his team heading to Lai City in Lao Country.

After leaving the high-end resort on the northern mountain of Kun City, they drove south without any stops.

The previously seized supplies were all temporarily stored at that resort, and the fuel from the dozens of vehicles was drained.

This resort was located in a remote area with few inhabitants.

Even if someone were to come here, they wouldn’t be able to take all the supplies away.

On the other hand, these supplies were confiscated from the survivors and weren’t particularly valuable.

Perhaps in the eyes of those survivors, these items were quite precious.

But from Li Yu’s perspective, they were more like a chicken rib—tasteless to eat, yet a pity to discard.

Since Third Uncle, Old Qin, Ant, and Jackals piloted two helicopters to Lai City in Lao Country, Lao Yi and the others were the only ones accompanying the convoy.

It’s just 300 kilometers from Kun City to Lai City in Lao Country.

Third Uncle and his team could reach there in a little over an hour by helicopter.

In the helicopter, Third Uncle peered through a telescope towards the ground; they had already reached the border of Lao Country.

The border area was rugged with primitive forests below, with only one road crossing the border, and a gate stood in the way.

However, the gate was destroyed, toppled over by the roadside, sunk into the muddy waters, covered with dead leaves, almost invisible.

”Captain, in about ten minutes, we’ll reach Lai City in Lao Country,” Old Qin estimated and said to Third Uncle.

”Hmm, it’s strange. Why hasn’t anyone been spotted? Slow down your flying speed; I can’t see anything when you’re going too fast. Anyway, Xiao Yu and the others aren’t moving that fast behind us,” Third Uncle said, frowning.

At that moment, Third Uncle suddenly saw a vehicle on the road in the forest below, and the people in the vehicle seemed to have noticed the helicopter and dashed into the woods.

Third Uncle focused his telescope on where the car disappeared.

”Old Qin, head over there, I just saw a car,” Third Uncle said to Old Qin.

At the same time, he instructed Ant and others in the other helicopter to investigate as well.

However, they didn’t dare to fly the helicopters too low, fearing ground shooters could hit them.

The dense forests of the northern border of Lao Country concealed the ground beneath.

Old Qin lingered for a moment, and seeing nothing, Third Uncle told him, ”Let’s go, never mind, don’t delay the mission.”

Third Uncle was somewhat worried; yesterday’s battle must have left some fleeing scammers, and by now, news must have reached their main hideout.

On the way here, he was mainly worried those scammers would head north and scatter, disrupting their extermination plan.

But along the way, they had only come across one vehicle, posing no significant threat.

Old Qin continued to fly towards Lai City in Lao Country.

On the ground, a car hidden under the foliage, Chen Wei stepped out, watching through the gaps in the leaves as the helicopter flew away, feeling relieved.

But soon he tensed up again, seeing the helicopter’s direction, heading towards Lai City.

This confirmed that the people noticed yesterday had indeed come; they truly hadn’t stopped heading south.

A helicopter showed up, and the troop of infantry vehicles might be on the way.

At the moment, heading forward would be like walking to his death if he ran into them.

Should he heed Director Gao’s orders to continue probing and assessing that troop’s strength, or head back to Jinmu Group, having at least learned that helicopters had arrived? He could tell Director Gao: that troop is coming our way!

But after thinking it over, something didn’t seem right.

Director Gao’s task was to understand the troop’s strength, how many people, how many vehicles, and what firepower they had.

If he went back now without seeing them, he couldn’t explain himself to Director Gao; he would meet a grim fate.

Besides, the helicopter was heading towards Lai City, where Director Gao and others might spot it too. Reporting back about the helicopter’s presence would be stating the obvious.

Moreover....

Chen Wei glanced at the car, noticing the person Director Gao sent, Erhua, was watching him closely.

If he attempted to run back, that Erhua would likely stop him.

Sigh.....

Forget it, better go and take a look, drive slower, and if he spots that troop, immediately hide in the forest.

After all, he’s alone with no family in Jinmu Group, and as for friends? Ha!

”Chen Wei, the helicopter’s gone, shouldn’t we be moving? Don’t forget what Director Gao instructed,” Erhua’s sinister voice threatened Chen Wei from the car.

”Go? Who said I wasn’t? We’re leaving right now.” Chen Wei headed towards the car.

....

Soon, Third Uncle and his team reached Lai City.

Seeing the tall wall and barbed wire ahead, Third Uncle told Ant and the others nearby, ”Ant, take the helicopter higher, watch out for bullets from below.”
