Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Zhang Rufen dropped to his knees on the ground, which not only stunned Li Yu, but also stunned Liu Cunyi, Ghost Head, and the others inside the circle.

”What the hell is he doing, does he have a death wish? If he pisses these people off, we’re definitely screwed!” Liu Cunyi muttered to Ghost Head beside him.

”Didn’t he just say he wanted to join them? Tsk...” Ghost Head jutted his lips in that direction, then continued, ”Let’s see how they react first.”

On the other side.

Zhang Rufen knelt down and even slid forward a meter. He bowed toward Li Yu and said, ”Was it you who wiped out Gan Xiong of the Western Alliance?”

Li Yu’s eyes flickered when he heard that.

His hand, which had been resting on the gun at his waist, slowly dropped.

A doubt flashed through his mind: how did they recognize us? Have they seen us before?

Silence.

The atmosphere turned a bit delicate. Ant suddenly stood up and slowly walked toward Zhang Rufen. No matter what, Zhang Rufen had disobeyed orders by running out of the circle on his own, and that was not allowed.

Li Yu gave Zhang Rufen a long, deep look and said, ”That’s right. How did you know?”

Zhang Rufen heard footsteps behind him. When he turned and saw Ant coming over, he quickly said to Li Yu, ”Benefactor, we originally planned to go cause trouble for the Western Alliance. Later we found someone over there, including that guy who was just now interrogating those Southeast Asia people. I recognized him just now.”

Without realizing it, the way he addressed Li Yu had already changed.

”Where were you at the time?” Li Yu’s heart moved as he asked.

”We were outside the Western Alliance, in a little alley by the road outside. We were kind of scared back then, so we didn’t show up. You’re my benefactor, you helped me avenge the annihilation of my clan.”

When Li Yu heard this, he guessed it must have been when Uncle and the others went to the Western Alliance that they had been seen by these people.

Looked at this way, what Zhang Rufen said more or less made sense.

So he said to him, ”Alright, no need to say more. If you’re here to express your thanks, I’ve already received it.”

By now Ant had already reached Zhang Rufen’s side and motioned for him to return to the circle.

Zhang Rufen stood up and said to Li Yu, ”I want to join you. These Southeast Asia people are too damn hateful. These last two days I’ve also seen it—you guys are planning to take them out. I want to join you and kill these bastards together.”

That statement was beyond what Li Yu had expected.

With some interest, he said, ”These scammers aren’t that easy to deal with. What abilities or skills do you have? Tell me.”

Zhang Rufen looked a bit embarrassed. Before the Doomsday, his family ran a family business; he’d done his MBA overseas in college, and that kind of thing seemed completely useless now.

Back then, because his family was wealthy, he’d been pretty much a good-for-nothing before the Doomsday, with basically no real skill.

His one advantage might have just been that he had a decent-looking face.

Seeing that Zhang Rufen still hadn’t answered, Li Yu more or less figured it out.

So he said, ”I’ll think about it. How about this, I’ll give you a task first. These Survivors, you’re in charge of managing them. Don’t let them run around. They have to follow unified orders.”

Li Yu pointed at Ghost Head and the people they had rescued today from the scammers’ truck.

All together there were several dozen people.

There was no reason to kill them, and Li Yu wasn’t the kind of person who killed for no reason.

But he also had no idea what they could be used for if he kept them.

However, for now he definitely couldn’t let them leave. If they went out and got caught by the Southeast Asia scammers, and Li Yu’s location got exposed, that would be trouble.

So, they’d be held temporarily.

When Zhang Rufen first heard that Li Yu said he’d think about it, he was a bit disappointed, but when he heard that Li Yu was assigning him a task, his face lit up.

This was a good sign. As long as there was work, that was a beginning.

Once there’s a start, there will definitely be opportunities later.

This was also a test from Li Yu. What Zhang Rufen had said did line up logically.

Since he had a favorable impression of their group, then he could be put to use.

Even if, when they went to wipe out that gang of Southeast Asia scammers, Zhang Rufen and the others couldn’t help much, they could be sent to the Big Camphor Tree Base.

For the base to develop, it needed people to build it.

Zhang Rufen already had a good impression of the Big Camphor Tree Base; he was a solid backup candidate for Cooperative Personnel.

....

After hearing Li Yu’s words, Zhang Rufen bowed deeply toward him and then said, ”Alright then, my name’s Zhang Rufen, may I ask how I should address you?”

”Li Yu,” Li Yu said flatly.

”Boss Li, thank you again. If there’s anything you need, just give the order, I’ll be there whenever you call!” Zhang Rufen looked every bit the loyal Tui Zi, and the sight made Li Yu find it a little funny.

So Li Yu waved his hand, motioning for him to go back into the circle.

After Zhang Rufen returned to the circle, he immediately put on a loyal expression as he watched everyone, not letting anyone inside step out of the boundary.

”You, and you, don’t stand so close to the line, move further in and sit down.”

”No chatting, no talking. Just stay put in the circle.”

.....

Liu Cunyi stared, dumbfounded, at this Zhang Rufen who seemed like a completely different person.

It was like he was meeting Zhang Rufen for the first time.

No, this wasn’t how Zhang Rufen used to be.

What he didn’t know was,

when a person’s hatred and pressure pile up to a certain weight, it’s like he’s carrying more than two hundred jin on his shoulders.
