Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Big Camphor Tree Base.

In the Inner City and Outer City, there are a total of three or four greenhouses.

The first, second, and third each have a greenhouse, and there is also one in the Inner City.

These are the main places for cultivating crops on the surface, and there are also some underground, primarily in the basements of residential buildings.

Additionally, there’s the bunker in the Second Outer City, and the cave on the mountainside.

Cultivation occurs both above and below ground. In the event of natural disasters, they can circumvent the complete destruction of crops.

Before the typhoon arrived, Li Yu issued many puzzling orders.

Such as putting away the cameras; relocating the fish, shrimp, and crabs from the mountain pond to a small pool less than an acre in the cave, with some placed in the water reservoir at the foot of the mountain.

.....

These orders reduced the losses at the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Just like when zombies were blown into the mountain pond, and the fish and shrimp were soaked in it, even though the zombie virus can only be transmitted through bites, the idea of fish and shrimp contaminated by zombies still made people uneasy.

The good news is that Li Yu had people move the fish and shrimp from the mountain pond to the reservoir and the cave pool in advance, preventing this situation from happening.

All along, the fish and shrimp in the mountain pond were managed by Grandpa and his elder companions.

Normally, they would throw some wild grass into the mountain pond, and if there was no wild grass, they would use some dried straw, which could also raise fish.

Raising fish is something that is both easy and difficult.

Previously, Father Li leased the mountain pond and fed them with feed, but because he was too busy, there was often no regular feeding, causing the fish to become large-headed with small bodies.

Now that Grandpa and the elders were given the responsibility of managing the fish and shrimp in the mountain pond, they actually grew very plump.

Their secret to good farming is simple: diligence.

Every morning and evening, they would regularly throw two handfuls of grass onto the water.

A few days ago, during the typhoon, these fish weren’t fed and went hungry for five or six days.

Grandpa and Liu Zhengyi pushed a cartload of straw to the reservoir at the foot of the mountain to feed the fish.

After feeding the fish in the lower reservoir, they took the remaining straw to the pool by the cave.

As they came out of the cave, they heard the rumble of an excavator coming from the direction of the mountain pond.

”Old Liu, is there another project over at the mountain pond? Why have they brought in the excavator?” Grandpa, with a little sweat on his forehead, looked at Li Yu’s grandfather and asked.

Grandpa Li Yushi shook his head, indicating he wasn’t sure either.

”Shall we go up and have a look?” Grandpa suggested.

Liu Zhengyi nodded and said, ”Sure, let’s go and take a look.”

The two elders have always been in good health, and although it is during Doomsday, they’ve stayed within the base and haven’t suffered much hardship.

Usually, they would take care of the young children, feed the fish, and occasionally, on nice days, the two old men would bring a chessboard and fishing gear.

Fishing on one side, playing chess on the riverbank on the other.

This kind of late-life routine greatly satisfied them.

So they left the cart at the cave entrance and headed up the mountain.

The closer they got to the mountain pond, the clearer the noise from the direction of the mountain pond became.

The roar of the excavator was deafening.

When they reached the shore, they saw that the water in the mountain pond had been drained, and Lai Dongsheng and the others were operating the excavator there.

On the other side, Li Gang and Song Min, along with others, were loading the dirt dug out by the excavator onto trucks.

”What’s this?” Grandpa was full of confusion, unable to understand what was going on at the moment.

”Little Gang.” Grandpa shouted at Li Gang.

Li Gang was close to the excavator and didn’t hear his call due to the loud noise.

So Li Yushi shouted once again.

Song Min, beside Li Gang, heard and called out to Li Gang, ”Your grandpa is calling you.”

At her words, Li Gang looked up and saw his two grandfathers on the shore.

He then put down what he was holding and walked straight towards them.

”Grandpa, Grandpa Liu, what brings you here?” Li Gang wiped his hands on his clothes, and then wiped his sweat with his sleeve, asking.

”Came to see what’s going on. Are you expanding the mountain pond?” Grandpa asked.

Li Gang turned his head to look at the construction site and said, ”Didn’t a typhoon hit a few days ago? Yesterday, Third Uncle and the others found zombies in the mountain pond. So we drained all the water. Big Brother suggested that we might as well refurbish this side of the mountain pond, sealing its bottom and walls with cement to build it like a reservoir.”

Grandpa frowned upon hearing this and said, ”Seal it all up?”

”Yes, we’re sealing it with concrete. Isn’t that a good thing?” Li Gang saw that Grandpa seemed a bit unwilling, so he added in explanation.

Beside them, Liu Zhengyi shook his head and said, ”Reservoirs aren’t usually built that way. Normally, reservoirs don’t seal the bottom; they typically seal around with concrete. If you seal the trench bottom, the groundwater in the mountains won’t be able to flow through, turning it into dead water.”

Grandpa also nodded and said, ”I never went to school, but I did help build the Meishan Reservoir back in the day, and they didn’t seal the trench bottom then.”

With both elders voicing their concerns, Li Gang found himself a bit bewildered.

He then relayed the situation to Li Yu.

Li Yu wasn’t very knowledgeable about these matters either, so he consulted Ding Jiu and his father, who often handled construction.

It was only then did they realize something.

The primary purpose of a reservoir is for water storage, so some may construct a waterproof layer at the base, covering it with a layer of concrete.
