Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

”Hehe, I heard from Haoran that day. He saw Zhou Weiguo go out and give something to Shen Xiaoxiao.”

Dapao had a gossiping expression on his face.

His face was full of mischievous amusement.

Li Tie laughed and said, ”What’s the big deal? Everyone has their own taste, Shen Xiaoxiao seems to match Zhou Weiguo’s temperament well. As long as Zhou Weiguo likes it, what’s with the expression?”

Dapao, upon hearing this, gradually let the teasing expression on his face fade.

He said, somewhat unusually, ”Yeah, it’s quite good. Being able to find someone you like in Doomsday is indeed very lucky.”

Li Tie didn’t catch the meaning behind his words.

Instead, he continued to control the giant loader.

Dapao carried his gun, looking around, staying alert.

Now all the outposts outside the base are unmanned, the typhoon just passed, and we still don’t know what the situation is outside.

....

Within the Big Camphor Tree Base.

In the Mountain Pond between two mountains.

At this moment, Song Min and Li Gang, along with others, were here, and Lai Dongsheng was slowly driving the excavator to the bottom of the ditch.

Then, using the excavator’s shovel, he slowly dug into the black soil inside.

These soils contained burnt wood chips, becoming blackened now.

They seemed quite fertile.

The silt was very thick, and as they shoveled, they turned over and dug up the black soil and piled it aside.

This silt had settled at the bottom for years, and all the fish and shrimp feces had accumulated here.

Over decades, it had become extremely fertile.

Since it was to be sealed with cement below, burying this soil underneath seemed wasteful.

So they simply dug up the soil and planned to transport it to the greenhouse later, which would benefit the crops’ growth.

A single loader was slow, so Li Gang sent over more people. The people were those who previously followed Old Lv; they weren’t good at operating it, only assisting with loading the soil onto trucks.

In the end, Li Yu’s Uncle Zhang Qinchao claimed he could operate it, and indeed took over, proving he knew his stuff.

Later, Deng Ben also came over, saying he could operate the excavator too.

Thus, with three excavators at work, the digging progressed much faster.

While digging, they broke up the mud as much as possible.

The mud, baked through the night, had become brittle.

It shattered easily when struck.

The reason for breaking it up was that the loader could shovel large pieces, potentially housing zombies inside.

The minutes ticked by.

They finally loaded six or seven trucks full of fertile soil.

They had finally cleaned the bottom of the Mountain Pond ditch.

The ditch bottom of the Mountain Pond was dug one and a half meters deep.

At a depth of one and a half meters, there couldn’t possibly be any zombies down there.

Zombies wouldn’t burrow into the earth, getting trapped in the mud was likely.

Li Gang looked at the ditch bottom and said to Deng Ben and Lai Dongsheng, ”Since we’ll be laying cement over it later, we might as well flatten the ditch bottom, uneven surfaces will be difficult to work on.”

Deng Ben and the others agreed it made sense.

Zhang Qinchao opened the excavator’s window and said to Li Gang, ”Since we still have time, if we’re going to cement the entire Mountain Pond, we might as well repair its walls too. Try to smooth them out.”

Li Gang thought what Zhang Qinchao said made sense.

Looking at the increasingly steep slope, Li Gang suddenly had an idea: why not build some steps?

It would make things more convenient.

Then, he took the walkie-talkie to contact Li Yu and shared his idea with him.

Li Yu, upon hearing the suggestion, found it interesting.

With steps, it would be easier to inspect and repair the dam.

Reservoirs usually have something like this.

It seemed they were indeed going to build more like a reservoir.

In the future, it couldn’t be called a Mountain Pond but renamed a reservoir.

So he let Li Gang proceed with the project according to this direction and execute it as per reservoir standards.

Li Gang was delighted to receive Li Yu’s approval.

Then he shouted to Zhang Qinchao, ”Uncle, Big Brother said it’s okay, we’ll work according to the reservoir standard.”

”Reservoir standards, haha, it’s feasible.” Zhang Qinchao laughed and operated the excavator to work on the Mountain Pond walls.

Other excavator operators Deng Ben and Lai Dongsheng also heard, so they started smoothing and repairing.

During this time, they stopped several times. Everyone discussed more rational plans.

Since Li Yu let them work boldly and creatively, as they progressed, interesting ideas often emerged, leading to discussions.

Everyone unanimously agreed, so they proceeded accordingly.

Unknowingly, what was originally just zombie digging and cement floor and wall smoothing.

Gradually turned into a rather large project.

They came up with many ideas, like creating a small platform in the center of the Mountain Pond, like having a permanently floating boat in the middle.

And so forth, several such ideas emerged.

This Mountain Pond, originally only twenty meters deep with a radius of a few dozen meters, with a total area of less than ten acres, was undergoing expansion.

Expanding to one and a half times its original size.

With the help of excavators, the project wasn’t too large.

This Mountain Pond was dug during tough years, when they used hoes, one hoe at a time.
