My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers

Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Why Did You Go After Them!

Kane Lloyd scanned the room but didn’t see Rose Jennings. There were only two police officers.

In that instant, a vicious thought sprang to mind. ’If I just chop these two up, won’t that be revenge for them locking me away for all those years?!’

The more he thought about it, the more tempting it became. Kane Lloyd tightened his grip on the axe, his body bending slightly as he prepared to strike.

”Don’t move! Police!”

Of course, the other two officers weren’t about to wait for their doom. They fluidly drew their service weapons and aimed them at Kane Lloyd.

The officers lying in wait in the other rooms also rushed out, surrounding the entire room.

Because of Kane Lloyd’s previous brutal methods, everyone on tonight’s mission was armed. They were afraid that being under-equipped would allow him to escape.

”Drop your weapon!” Captain Wright shouted at Kane Lloyd, his own gun raised warily.

Kane Lloyd tightened his grip on his axe and grinned at them, then violently hurled the axe to the side.

”Watch out!”

Cap Wright’s shout and a gunshot rang out at the same time.

Sean Hughes’s eyes were sharp, and he swiftly fired, piercing Kane Lloyd’s shoulder.

On the other side, where the axe had been thrown, the officer dodged just in time. The axe merely grazed the top of their helmet.

Aside from a good scare, the officer was unharmed.

Immediately after, Kane Lloyd was surrounded by the furious Sean Hughes and the others.

As police officers, they couldn’t lay a hand on the suspect. But during the escort, some of the younger, clumsier officers ”accidentally” kept bumping into the wound on his shoulder.

The intense pain seemed to have no effect on Kane Lloyd. From the moment he was caught until now, a strange smile remained on his face.

”So what if you caught me? It’s still too late.” As he was shoved into the police car, the smile on Kane Lloyd’s face grew wider.

An inexplicable sense of unease crept into the hearts of Sean Hughes and Captain Wright.

Meanwhile, Zoe Sawyer’s heart began to pound. She felt a profound unease and had the urge to open a door.

’But haven’t they already caught the killer? Could they have missed something?’

”What’s wrong?” Evan Keller noticed something was off with Zoe Sawyer and asked in a low voice.

Zoe Sawyer didn’t hide it, explaining her feeling to Evan Keller.

”In that case, you should open a door. If something really is happening, we can deal with it right away.” Evan Keller didn’t dismiss Zoe Sawyer’s intuition; instead, he offered his advice.

Just then, Heath Hale’s breathless voice suddenly crackled through the earpiece: ”Quick! We all overlooked Kane Lloyd’s parents! How could they not know their own son was doing this stuff!

”The colleague staking out their house said Kane Lloyd’s parents just left home on their little three-wheeler. It has a black plastic tarp covering something in the back, and they’re heading toward Rose Jennings’s family home! The two houses aren’t far apart, only about a ten-minute drive!

”Zoe Sawyer, set the door’s destination there right now!”

Heath Hale’s voice was accompanied by the sound of rushing wind. It seemed he was also hurrying to the location.

”Understood!”

Zoe Sawyer immediately complied. She took the file Evan Keller handed her, looked at the detailed location on it, quickly set the destination, and opened the door to bring them through.

They arrived at Rose Jennings’s family home before anyone else.

Captain Wright and Sean Hughes, who were on the same channel, naturally heard Heath Hale’s words as well.

”When you said ’too late,’ you were referring to your parents going to Rose Jennings’s family home?” Captain Wright looked at the handcuffed Kane Lloyd and raised an eyebrow.

If they hadn’t had someone watching the family, these bastards might have actually succeeded.

But now, he had outside help!

The malicious plan of this family of three would be nipped in the bud!

Hearing Captain Wright reveal his backup plan, Kane Lloyd struggled excitedly for a moment but was quickly subdued.

’Kane Lloyd’s heart was filled with bitterness. Why did my plan fail? When did these people start watching me?!’

Meanwhile, not long after Zoe Sawyer’s group had taken their positions, they saw a small three-wheeler stop not far from the Jennings Family’s house.

Under Evan Keller’s direction, the group quickly hid, preparing to catch the perpetrators red-handed when they made their move.

Only by catching them in the act could they secure a conviction.

If they were caught before they did anything, they’d have plenty of room to argue their way out of it.

The old couple carried over the gasoline cans, evenly sprinkled the liquid around the house, and had just pulled out a lighter when police officers lying in wait in the corners tackled them, pinning them to the ground.

Now they were truly caught red-handed. Zoe Sawyer and her team didn’t hesitate. They left two people behind to explain the situation to the Jennings Family while the rest escorted the old couple back to the station.

As soon as they entered the police station, they ran into Sean Hughes and his group.

The three members of the Lloyd family were thus reunited.

Seeing the wound on their son’s shoulder, the old couple became agitated and tried to rush over to check on him, but they were restrained.

They could only watch helplessly as Kane Lloyd was led away by the police.

The police chief came forward at that moment, excitedly shaking Zoe Sawyer’s hand. ”Sawyer, thank you so much for your help today. If you hadn’t found the killer, there would have been another tragedy tonight!”

Three cases of family annihilation in three days.

With the killer still at large, it would have been an absolutely explosive story anywhere.

Now, Zoe Sawyer had not only caught the killer but also prevented the third tragedy.

Most importantly, she had saved his job—the hat on his head—and handed him a major commendation.

So, from every perspective, the chief was immensely grateful for Zoe Sawyer’s help.

”Rest assured, everyone. I’ll report your contributions accurately. As for Sawyer’s special circumstances, I’ll have my officers sign a confidentiality agreement shortly.”

The chief laid out the follow-up arrangements before Heath Hale and the others even had a chance to speak.

Zoe Sawyer shook the chief’s hand a bit awkwardly, then made her request. ”Could we observe today’s interrogation?”

”Of course!” It wasn’t an unreasonable request, so the chief naturally agreed.

Soon, Zoe Sawyer and the other three arrived at the door to Kane Lloyd’s interrogation room.

Contrary to what they expected—a flat-out denial—Kane Lloyd was surprisingly candid, admitting he was also responsible for the other two cases of family annihilation.

”Why?! I investigated it. They had no contact with you or your parents, not even any conflicts online. Why did you target them!” Captain Wright slammed his hand on the table in anger.

That innocent family of four, brutally murdered. And that young couple, about to welcome their first child.

Every one of them was so innocent.

Why did Kane Lloyd have to kill them!

Kane Lloyd’s tone was nonchalant, but his words made everyone’s blood boil.

”Just felt like killing them. No reason.

Oh, right. The pregnant one? That was on purpose,”
