Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

But when she saw the person standing at the door was William Quinn, her eyes widened in disbelief.

It was him!

He’s back!

Iris Yates immediately stood up, her posture exceptionally stiff. She even forced a placating smile onto her face.

”You... you’re back.”

William Quinn watched her flustered state. ’What’s the difference between this and a confession?’

He walked toward her, step by step, his deep blue eyes like the ocean, staring straight at her.

”Baby, I missed you so much while I was away on business. Did you miss me?”

Iris Yates gave him a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. ”I... I think the correct answer is that I didn’t miss you, right?”

”But I missed you. I really, really missed you.” William Quinn walked up to her, reaching out to stroke her hair. His hand moved slowly, then shifted to gently caress her cheek.

”Whenever I have a free moment, I think of you. I can’t help but wonder what you’re doing, if you’re eating properly, if you’re sleeping well, if you’re lonely... if you’re missing me...”

His voice grew softer and softer, a low murmur, like the intimate whispers of a lover.

His hand also moved, from her cheek to her neck.

”So, I couldn’t resist. I had someone tell me, in detail, everything you’ve been up to.”

His palm encircled her neck. She was very nervous, her body growing rigid. The moment his hand closed around her neck, he felt her breath catch for an instant.

The next second, he squeezed her throat.

His blue eyes, filled with sorrow and fury, were fixed on her. ”But what were you doing?! Why did you throw out all the wine bottles? Were you treating them like messages in a bottle, hoping someone would come save you? Baby, my beloved baby, isn’t it good enough to stay by my side? I’ll be good to you forever, so why do you always think about running away from me?!”

William Quinn’s questioning was nearly frenzied, the force of his grip steadily increasing.

Iris Yates was stunned by the violent, surging rage and malice coming from him. She didn’t dare move. Listening to his furious questions, she was so scared that her whole body began to tremble.

Feeling the large hand on her neck tighten, her eyes flew open in terror, and she began to shove him!

’Help me!’

’He’s going to kill me!’

’I don’t want to die!’

’I’m still so young!’

’I haven’t gone home to my parents and friends yet!’

’I can’t die here!’

She struggled with all her might, pummeling him in an attempt to escape his grasp.

But a feeling of suffocation washed over her, and a crushing pain emanated from her neck.

Gradually, her strength gave out. Her face turned bluish-purple as she subconsciously opened her mouth, trying to breathe.

Everything before her eyes began to blur, and her ears started to ring.

Just when she thought she was really going to die, the large hand on her neck suddenly let go.

Her body went limp and she collapsed onto the carpet. Clutching her neck, she began to gasp for air.

Air rushed into her lungs, and she broke into a violent coughing fit.

She coughed so hard that tears streamed down her cheeks.

The man’s legs were right in front of her. He stood over her, looking down.

The very hand that had nearly choked her to death moments ago was right before her eyes, now hanging loosely at his side.

Terrified, Iris Yates scrambled backward, crawling toward the door.

”Monster! You’re a monster! I won’t stay with a monster! I won’t...”

She sobbed as she crawled toward the door, desperate to leave this place.

”Baby, don’t leave me, Baby...”

But soon, she was being lifted. She fell into a broad embrace, the man’s arms holding her tightly.
