Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

Owen Sterling’s body began to grow hot, and he furrowed his brow. ’I didn’t put anything in my own glass...’

But he was only puzzled for a moment before he brushed the thought aside.

’A drug works too. It’ll just make things more exciting.’

He muttered as he finished taking off his clothes, then leaned over to undress Chloe Reed.

But in the next second, Chloe Reed’s eyes snapped open.

”So you wanted to get revenge on me.”

Her tone was calm and her gaze was clear. She didn’t look at all like someone who had been drugged.

Owen Sterling froze, his eyes widening in disbelief. ”You... How are you alright?”

Chloe Reed sat up, her eyes cold as she looked at him. ”I’m not the one who brought about your suffering, yet you try to take revenge on me. You’ve truly disappointed me.”

”How could it not be!” Owen Sterling suddenly broke down. ”All of this started happening to me because I met you! My life was great before!”

But Chloe Reed said, ”Then have you ever considered why you’re being targeted? You were targeted after switching between several companies. Did you never think that someone might be trying to frame you?”

As soon as she finished speaking, the door to the private room was kicked open.

A person was thrown inside, immediately followed by a hulking, brutish man who strode in after them.

He scanned the room, and upon seeing Chloe Reed, broke into a wide grin. ”You must be Miss Chloe Reed, right?”

Chloe Reed nodded. ”I am. And you are?”

”The name’s Daniel Hayes!” the man said, thumping his chest. ”Zach told me I’ll be in charge of your protection from now on. You can rest easy. As long as I’m breathing, nobody is going to bully you!”

A smile slowly bloomed on Chloe Reed’s face. She nodded. ”Daniel Hayes. Good. I’ll remember that name.”

Then, her gaze fell upon the person who had been thrown to the floor.

It was Nanny Lawrence, the woman who took care of Madam Grant!

”What’s going on with her?”

Daniel Hayes scratched his head and said, ”Zach told me she was the one who contacted him, and he told me to grab her and bring her here too. So, I did what he said.”

He then stepped forward, gave Nanny Lawrence a kick, and barked, ”Speak! What did you do?!”

But Nanny Lawrence shook her head frantically, her face full of terror. ”I... I don’t know what you’re talking about! Second Young Mistress, help me! I don’t know this man at all, he just grabbed me out of nowhere! Second Young Mistress, please, save me!”

Chloe Reed narrowed her eyes. Just then, her phone rang. She answered it. It was Zachary Bowman’s voice. ”Miss Reed, I had someone do an emergency investigation on this Owen Sterling. We discovered that Martha Lowe used her nephew’s account to transfer three million to Owen Sterling’s account. They’ve also met a few times. I suspect they’re the ones who conspired to drug you tonight.”

”Alright, I understand.”

Chloe Reed replied before hanging up.

She looked coldly at Nanny Lawrence. ”Did Madam Grant send you? To ruin me?”

Nanny Lawrence just kept shaking her head. ”No... I don’t know...”

But Chloe Reed let out a cold laugh. ”It doesn’t matter whether you know or not. I already do.”

Then, she looked at Daniel Hayes and said, ”Untie the ropes on her legs.”

”You got it.”

Daniel Hayes nodded, bent down, and untied the ropes on Nanny Lawrence’s legs.

Her upper body was still bound by the ropes, leaving her unable to move.

Chloe Reed stood up. ”We can go now.”

”Yes!” Daniel Hayes replied.

As they left the room, Nanny Lawrence’s panicked voice called after them. ”No, you can’t leave! Second Young Mistress, don’t go! I’m the servant who takes care of Madam Grant! You can’t just leave! Come back!”
