Starting With an SSS-Rank Swordsmanship Talent

On his way to the training ground, Alaric’s thoughts drifted.

Mathilda… I had indeed neglected her. He remembered her mentioning the downfall of her family.

Alaric had forgotten this since he was focused on dealing with the heretic cult back then. Moreover, he also had to prepare for his upcoming wedding.

It must be related to her vengeance.

Thinking about this, Alaric made a hand gesture.

“Caecus.”

Whoosh!

“Your servant is here.” A figure emerged behind him with his head bowed.

“Investigate Mathilda’s past. I want to know who had exterminated her family. For this matter, I allow you to mobilize the Shadow Corps.” He instructed, his eyes narrowing.

Caecus acknowledged the command with a nod. “Your servant obeys.”

Alaric waved his hand and dismissed him. “You may go.”

Caecus saluted and left without a sound.

The Shadow Corps was the most secretive unit under his command. Even his parents and his wife weren’t aware of their existence. Their training was done in secret and Caecus mostly handled them.

There were only about five hundred members of the Shadow Corps, but their numbers would continue to grow soon.

Alaric would prioritize funding this secret force since he would need them during his journey to the Cangnan Continent.

After giving instructions to Caecus, Alaric headed straight to the training ground to begin his daily physical exercises.

…

Time passed by quickly, in the blink of an eye, three days had gone by.

In the last three days, Hershey and Yvanna have been trying to determine the cause of Mathilda’s worries, but Mathilda hasn’t told them anything about her situation.

She only assured them that nothing was wrong.

To her stubbornness, the two ladies were helpless. In the end, they could only seek Alaric’s help.

The two visited Alaric’s study.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

“The door is unlocked. You may enter.” Hearing Alaric’s voice inside the room, Yvanna pushed the door open.

Upon entering, they saw Alaric sitting on a chair next to the side table. By his side was Elena who was brewing coffee for him.

Alaric smiled at the two, gesturing to them to sit. “What brings you to my study so early in the morning?”

Taking their seats, the two ladies glanced at each other, looking hesitant to speak.

“Just speak freely. There are no strangers here.” Alaric urged with a gentle smile.

Seeing that he was in a great mood, Hershey could only bite the bullet. “Alaric, this is about Mathilda’s situation.”

“We tried to ask her if she needed something, but she refused to tell us anything.” She sighed helplessly.

Yvanna also shook her head in regret.

Alaric already knew that they had come for this matter. He gestured to Elena to pour them coffee as he spoke. “If this is about her matter, you two can rest assured. I have already determined the issue.”

At this moment, his face suddenly became serious.

Seeing the abrupt shift in his expression, the two ladies seemed to have realized the gravity of the situation.

Alaric didn’t keep them in suspense and continued. “As you may know, Mathilda is originally from Veronica. She is the young lady of a merchant family. However, her family was exterminated by a business competitor and she was sold as a slave to Astania…”

The two ladies were shocked to hear Mathilda’s story. They didn’t expect her to have such a lonely past.

Now that they had learned the truth, they felt pity for her.

“Then how are you going to deal with this matter?” Yvanna asked, staring deeply at him.

With a cold gaze, Alaric responded. “Since Mathilda is now one of us, those who have hurt her are enemies of House Silversword. The sin of exterminating her family must be repaid with their destruction!”

The ladies sensed the intense fluctuations of his aura.

Noticing their discomfort, Alaric quickly retracted his aura.

“But your wedding is coming soon. You cannot dirty your hands now.” Hershey looked at him with concern.

To someone who was about to get married, it was taboo to engage in murder. It was an old belief she had inherited from her father.

Alaric chuckled, waving his hand carelessly. “You need not be worried about this. To deal with those people, sending our warriors will be enough.”

Caecus had already investigated the people who exterminated Mathilda’s family. They were only a newly appointed nobility. Although powerful to some, they were not worth mentioning in his eyes.

“There won’t be any issues, right?” Hershey confirmed. She was afraid that it would ruin House Silversword’s reputation.

Alaric shook his head. “Their household is just a rising nobility. The strongest warrior under their command is only a single Transcendent Knight. I only need to send a few of our Transcendents to deal with the likes of them.”

The ladies relaxed at his words.

“Since you are this confident, I am assured.” Hershey smiled faintly.

Alaric chuckled. “Let’s not talk about that. Please try Elena’s coffee. The beans she used to brew this are a gift from Her Majesty. I’m sure you have heard of the famous Veronican Rumina…”

The topic quickly shifted into something harmonious.

…

“The target this time is the head of House Yun. He is only a Knight, but he is always protected by his most trusted aide who is a Transcendent Knight.” Caecus briefed them about the main target.

“What about the rest of the household?” Galanar asked in a low voice.

“To prevent future problems, we must eliminate them from the roots!” Butch muttered in a chilling voice.

Galanar frowned, but he didn’t say anything.

On the other hand, Caecus supported the idea. “He is right. Although they are only a small household. Who knows what might happen if we leave some of them alive? To prevent leakage of information, we must destroy them thoroughly!”

“Fine.” Galanar nodded, his eyes glinting.

Caecus gestured with his hand. “I will capture the main target. Sir Butch will handle the Transcendent and Sir Galanar will take care of the small fries. As for your subordinates, they will blockade the estate to prevent anyone from escaping.”

“Understood.”

“Alright.”
