Looking at the masked Transcendent Knight, Ronn unhesitatingly pulled out his sword.

Shiing!

Ronn knew that only death would follow if he were captured. He was prepared to fight them for a chance to escape.

Butch waved his halberd and made a hand gesture to Warrick. “I will take care of him. Leave this to me.”

Warrick who was standing atop the roof nodded. “Fine, but you must make it quick.”

Butch chuckled, seemingly amused as he replied. “This will be easy…”

Hearing their exchange, Ronn was offended. He was a legitimate Transcendent Knight. He might be doing spy work, but he was also skilled in combat.

With a light twist of his sword, he pounced upon Butch, roaring furiously. “How dare you look down on me?!”

He channeled a fourth of his mana pool into his sword and brandished it forcefully, creating a sharp wave that cut through the air.

Whoosh!

Butch remained calm in the face of this attack. As a veteran of many battles, this kind of move didn’t look threatening to him.

He waved his halberd and stepped forth, bringing about a monumental force that cracked the ground.

Bang!

There was no fancy technique behind his halberd. It was pure brute strength.

The tremendous power of his halberd crashed into Ronn’s sword, breaking it into several fragments.

Boom!

Ronn felt a sharp pain in his chest as the residual force struck him and sent him flying into the air, before smashing into a nearby building.

“Argh!”

He grabbed his chest, blood leaking out from his mouth. He was terrified. He didn’t expect the other party to be so strong.

Just one exchange almost took his life!

How is he strong?! “W-Who are you?!” He lifted his body with great difficulty, while his eyes were looking at the masked Transcendent with fear.

Butch casually waved his halberd, smiling beneath his mask. “A dead man doesn’t need to know my name.”

The disdain in his voice was evident.

Ronn felt a chill in his heart, his mind racing.

What should I do?! This guy’s going to kill me!

He could sense the killing intent in the other party’s gaze. It was palpable.

“Wait! We can talk this through.” He let out a weak smile, while putting up his hands, showing a clear sign of surrender.

I need to lower his guard and strike him at the right moment…

Just as the thought crossed his mind, Butch’s towering figure suddenly vanished.

“What tricks are you thinking?” A mocking voice drifted into his ears, but before he could react, he felt his consciousness slipping away.

How…?

His vision darkened.

…

Why is my body so sore?

Ronn opened his eyes and found himself tied up on a chair, his mana core sealed.

“So you’re finally awake… I was waiting for you to wake up.” He heard a calm voice behind him.

Ronn could only turn to the side so he couldn’t see the other party, but from the voice, he could tell that it was a young man.

“Who are you? What do you want from me?” He felt unsettled.

Looking around, he realized that he was in an underground basement. The damp air filled his nostrils and the cold temperature bit his skin.

“Ronn… you can only answer my questions. Lie once and you won’t like it.” The young voice echoed in the basement, ringing in his ears like thunder.

Ronn gulped nervously, not daring to respond.

“First question… Are you from Parahan?”

Hearing this, Ronn was stunned.

How did he… Did those idiots expose me?! Dammit!

Gritting his teeth, he replied. “Yes. It wouldn’t do you any good if you harmed me. I am a warrior of Para-”

Pah!

He felt a stinging pain in his back, as a whip struck him hard.

“Argh!” He didn’t expect the other party to hit him mercilessly even after knowing his identity.

Ronn groaned, gnashing his teeth in anger.

“You! Do you not fear the rage of Parahan?!”

Pah!

The other party struck once more, but this time, with greater force.

“I told you. You will only answer my questions.” The young voice was calm, seemingly devoid of emotion.

Ronn no longer dared to utter a word, afraid that he would be whipped again. With his energy core sealed, he didn’t have any means to protect his body.

Is he a high-ranking warrior from House Silversword?

A few faces came into his mind, but nothing clicked. He couldn’t identify the other party with their voice alone.

“Good… Next question…”

“Why are you investigating my House Silversword?”

Ronn was silent for a moment, feeling a bit hesitant.

Pah!

The whip struck his back, ripping off a portion of his flesh.

“Ahhh!!” Ronn screamed in pain, his body convulsing.

“I don’t like waiting so you better answer me quickly before I run out of patience.” A cold voice drifted into his ears like an ultimatum.

Breathing heavily, he opened his mouth. “At first, it was only a routine observation, but recently, we were ordered to investigate Alaric Silversword…”

There was a long silence behind him.

Ronn thought that the other party was unsatisfied with his answer so he quickly added, his voice shaking. “It was an order from the Parahan Imperial Family! That’s all I know!”

“Parahan Imperial Family… so they were investigating me, huh? That’s surprising. I don’t think I ever messed with them…”

Hearing this, Ronn was stunned. From his words, he realized that the person behind him was the very target of his investigations, Alaric Silversword!

He didn’t dare utter a word.

This young prince was a Mythical Knight, a renowned prodigy who was said to have defeated countless powerful warriors. He was an existence that someone like him couldn’t afford to provoke.

“Last question, was it Ferdinand Parahan who ordered you to investigate me?” Alaric asked as he slowly approached the trembling Transcendent Knight.

A look of struggle flashed in Ronn’s eyes as he responded with a shake of his head. “No!”

Alaric’s footsteps drew near and he almost fainted from the pressure.

“So it’s him, huh?”

As the footsteps behind him halted, Alaric’s cold voice followed.

“Thank you for your cooperation.”

Whoosh!

That was the last words he heard before his vision darkened for eternity.
