Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

News that the Global Alliance of Gods had cut off all support to Great Xia was immediately relayed to the Great Xia Military.

In a small conference room in the Great Xia Military Department, Lin Yuehua and the recently awakened Feng Wuji were drinking tea.

Upon hearing the news, Feng Wuji said excitedly, ”A brilliant move by the old director! That’s how you shut down those foreign devils!”

Lin Yuehua nodded. ”That bunch, led by the White Eagle Empire, has been clamoring about cutting off support for years.”

”In reality, who have they ever truly supported?”

”We of Great Xia have fought and bled on the borders for decades to resist the Alien Race. When have we ever seen a single one of their soldiers?”

”Their so-called ’support’ is nothing more than sending a few observers over to leech off our military achievements.”

”When the Alien Race truly launches a major offensive, they run faster than anyone.”

”And now they dare to threaten us by cutting off support. It’s utterly ridiculous.”

Feng Wuji snorted heavily. ”Putting everything else aside, just for destroying the Sakura Ancient God’s incarnation and indirectly causing the fall of the Sakura Country, the National Guardian Divine Mosquito is a hero of our Great Xia.”

”And they actually want us to hand over our hero for them to judge? I think those people must have been kicked in the head by a donkey!”

A smile touched Lin Yuehua’s face. ”Speaking of which, the National Guardian Divine Mosquito is truly incredible.”

”Not only did it save us from the Sakura Ancient God, but it even managed to contract an Emperor Level Fierce Beast as a mount.”

”Throughout all of world history, there’s never been a mosquito like it, and there never will be again.”

Feng Wuji nodded, then suddenly frowned. ”Right, about the Alliance demanding we hand over the National Guardian Divine Mosquito... should we release this news and let the public know?”

Lin Yuehua tapped the table, lost in thought.

Chu Sheng had fought hard to establish his image as a hero in the public’s eyes. The previous wave of doubt and vitriol had only just subsided.

If this news got out and was exploited by people with ulterior motives, causing the public to turn against Chu Sheng again, it wouldn’t be worth the cost.

She hesitated for a moment before saying, ”How about... we block the news for now and keep it from the public temporarily.”

The moment she finished speaking, a civilian staffer operating a nearby computer turned around and said with a wry smile, ”Generals, I’m afraid it’s too late. The news has already spread among the populace. The entire Great Xia forum is in an uproar.”

Lin Yuehua and Feng Wuji exchanged a look, their expressions changing in unison.

Until now, only a few people knew the news.

And it was impossible that any of them would have leaked it.

The staffer explained, ”We tracked the IP addresses of the initial posts. They’re all anonymous IPs from outside the country. It’s obviously an intentional leak by foreign spies.”

Lin Yuehua and Feng Wuji understood immediately.

This had to be the White Eagle Empire’s doing. Having failed to gain an advantage at the Alliance meeting, they were now trying to stir up trouble from within.

Their objective was obvious: to use this incident to incite public sentiment, make everyone hate Chu Sheng, and trigger internal chaos in Great Xia.

Lin Yuehua sighed and waved her hand. ”Fine, what’s done is done. It’s better to guide the flow than to block it. Let’s see what the public is saying.”

The staffer turned the computer screen toward Lin Yuehua and Feng Wuji. ”Generals, you should see for yourselves.”

The two of them leaned in to look at the screen. The first thing that caught their eye was a series of sensational headlines.

”SHOCK! Great Xia’s Old Director Openly Defies the World to Protect an Exotic Beast!”

”White Eagle Empire, European Union, and Dozens of Other Nations Jointly Declare an Immediate Halt to All Support for Great Xia!”

”Without International Support, Great Xia’s Border Defenses Are in Peril! Hundreds of Millions Will Face Annihilation!”

”A Mosquito Versus the Future of an Entire Nation—Which Is More Important?”

”They’re really good at twisting the truth,” Feng Wuji said with a disdainful curl of his lip.

”This is all these foreign spies are good for—spreading rumors and discord all day long.”

Ignoring the clickbait, the two scrolled down to the comment section.

To their surprise, the comments weren’t a one-sided condemnation of Chu Sheng and the old director as they had feared. On the contrary, the majority of people were on Chu Sheng’s side.

”I think the old director did the right thing!”

”Look at everything the National Guardian Divine Mosquito has done for Great Xia!”

”He quelled the chaos in the Northern Territory, saving millions of soldiers and civilians.”

”He killed the Sakura Ancient God’s incarnation, resolving the crisis in Great Xia’s eastern region.”

”He indirectly caused the fall of the Sakura Country, letting us vent a long-held grudge.”

”Every single one of these was a great deed, wasn’t it?”

”The White Eagle Empire could have jumped out at any time, but they choose now to demand we hand over the National Guardian Divine Mosquito. Their malice is clear!”

”They just want to get rid of Great Xia’s guardian deity!”

”Exactly! I support the old director! Anyone who dares to touch the National Guardian Divine Mosquito is making an enemy of me!”

”Long live the National Guardian Divine Mosquito! Long live the old director! Long live Great Xia!”

Reading these comments, Lin Yuehua and Feng Wuji both breathed a sigh of relief.

It seemed the people’s eyes were sharp; they hadn’t been blinded by those malicious rumors.

Just as the two were beginning to relax, a new comment suddenly appeared at the very top of the section.

”Don’t be so naive, everyone. A deed is a deed, but reality is reality.”

”Have you ever thought about what we’d use to resist the Alien Race if their grand army truly invades and we have no international support?”

”Once the border defenses are breached, the Alien Race will march straight in, and all of us in Great Xia will become their food.”

”For the sake of one mosquito, the old director is disregarding the lives of hundreds of millions of Great Xia’s people!”

Below this comment, a pile of supportive replies quickly followed.

”That’s so true! It’s just a mosquito, isn’t it? Wouldn’t it be better to hand it over in exchange for peace? Do we have to drag all of Great Xia down with it?”

”I don’t want to die! I support handing over the mosquito in exchange for international support!”

”Support +1!”

”Support +2!”

”...”

Seeing these comments, Lin Yuehua’s expression immediately darkened.

These words seemed reasonable on the surface, but they were complete sophistry.

That bunch from the White Eagle Empire couldn’t be trusted at all. Even if they really handed over Chu Sheng, they wouldn’t genuinely support Great Xia. Instead, they would just take a mile for every inch given and make even more unreasonable demands.

”Find out who posted these comments,” Lin Yuehua said, her voice turning cold.

”Yes, General!”

The staffer immediately began working and had results in less than ten minutes.

”Reporting, General. The ones posting these negative comments are all members of the Nine Great Clans.”

Lin Yuehua snorted coldly, a murderous glint in her eyes. ”So, the Nine Great Clans! At a critical juncture like this, they dare to worship foreign powers and sow discord. They’re courting death!”

”Arrest every last one of these clan members who are spreading rumors and inciting dissent! Don’t let a single one get away!”

”Yes!”

Soon, all the members of the Nine Great Clans who had participated in spreading the rumors were arrested and thrown into the Military Department’s prison.

Among them were many core members of the Nine Great Clans.

Lin Yuehua and Feng Wuji thought that would be the end of the matter.

They never expected that an even bigger problem was on its way.

That afternoon, a guard ran in frantically. ”Emperor Lin, Emperor Feng, this is bad!”

Lin Yuehua frowned. ”Calm down and speak. What happened?”

The guard caught his breath and said urgently, ”The Xia Family’s Ancestor and the Xuanyuan Family’s Ancestor have come in person to demand their people back!”

”What?!”

Lin Yuehua and Feng Wuji shot to their feet at the same time.

They truly hadn’t expected that the Xia Family’s Ancestor and the Xuanyuan Family’s Ancestor would personally intervene over such a small matter.

They exchanged a look, and both saw the predicament in the other’s eyes.

Just then, a figure appeared out of thin air before them without any warning.

”Old Director!” Lin Yuehua and Feng Wuji exclaimed.

Lu Lingchen looked at the worried expressions on their faces and said calmly, ”Leave this to me.”
