Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

By the time Chu Sheng arrived at the foot of Mount Fuji, it was already past ten at night.

At this hour, Mount Fuji had long been closed to the public, and there were virtually no tourists in sight.

Even the Sakura trees on the mountain seemed to have drooped in the darkness, looking utterly listless.

Chu Sheng leisurely circled Mount Fuji three times, scouring the entire mountain over and over.

But other than jumping into the crater at the summit, he couldn’t find anything else that resembled an entrance.

”Immortal Venerable Shi Xi, I’ve made it to Mount Fuji. So where exactly is that Emperor Tier Spatial Treasure?” Chu Sheng asked, sending a message with his Soul Power into the Primordial Grotto Heaven.

Immortal Venerable Shi Xi didn’t answer his question immediately. Instead, she countered with one of her own: ”Have you thought this through?”

”Thought what through?” Chu Sheng asked, momentarily confused.

Immortal Venerable Shi Xi reminded him, ”I told you before. If you remove this Emperor Tier Spatial Treasure, Mount Fuji will erupt instantly.”

”The resulting tsunami would cause the entire Sakura Country to sink into the sea. Are you sure you still want to take it?”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Chu Sheng said impatiently, ”I’ve made up my mind. Just hurry up and tell me where it is.”

Immortal Venerable Shi Xi fell silent for a moment before posing a hypothetical. ”Suppose we get to the bottom of the volcano and find this Emperor Tier Magical Artifact is damaged and can’t be used for the formation. Would you still take it?”

”Of course I would!” Chu Sheng’s tone was matter-of-fact, as if the answer was obvious.

Immortal Venerable Shi Xi was completely floored.

She truly couldn’t fathom what kind of deep-seated hatred could make a tiny mosquito harbor such immense animosity toward the Sakura Country.

He’d redirected a Celestial Tribulation and slayed a Sakura Ancient God.

He’d watched without batting an eye as the Eastern Capital was reduced to rubble.

And now, for the sake of a Magical Treasure, he didn’t care in the slightest if the entire Sakura Country was annihilated.

It didn’t even matter whether he would gain any practical benefit from it.

Unable to comprehend it, Immortal Venerable Shi Xi decided to stop dwelling on the matter and answered Chu Sheng’s question. ”This Emperor Tier Spatial Treasure is called the Yaqi Mirror. During the Fall of the Gods Era, it was the personal Magical Treasure of an Ancient God from the Sakura Country.”

”Ten thousand years ago, at the end of the Fall of the Gods Era, all the gods were forced to flee Blue Star. They either escaped deep into the cosmos or hid within grotto-heavens... That particular Sakura Ancient God was quite powerful, so he fled into the cosmos. He deliberately left this Magical Treasure on Mount Fuji as a ’Locator’ to prepare for his eventual return.”

”To prevent anyone from taking the Magical Treasure, that Ancient God activated the Yaqi Mirror’s space-folding ability before he left.”

”Once the space was folded, you wouldn’t be able to find the Yaqi Mirror even if you hollowed out the entirety of Mount Fuji.”

”However, there is a weakness. Every night at 11 p.m., the Yaqi Mirror temporarily retracts its space-folding ability to replenish its Energy. This process lasts for five minutes.”

”Therefore, you must enter the gateway between 11:00 and 11:05 p.m. to find the Yaqi Mirror. If you miss that window, you’ll have to wait another day.”

After she finished, Chu Sheng nodded in understanding. ”No wonder an Emperor Tier Spatial Treasure is just sitting here with no one to claim it.”

”And the gods who know the truth can’t come back to retrieve their own Magical Treasures because of the Forbidden God Law.”

”So these Magical Treasures became ownerless.”

”No one knows when to get them. Even if someone knew the location, it would be useless without the right timing.”

”No wonder you said there are many other Emperor Tier Magical Treasures that haven’t been claimed, Immortal Venerable.”

”I finally get it.”

Now that he understood, Chu Sheng asked, ”So where exactly is the entrance? I’ll go wait there so I don’t miss the window.”

”It’s right where you’re standing,” Immortal Venerable Shi Xi said.

Chu Sheng glanced down at his feet, then looked up at the pitch-black volcanic crater before him. He was flabbergasted. ”Immortal Venerable, are you saying the entrance is... jumping into this crater?”

”Yes,” Immortal Venerable Shi Xi confirmed with a nod.

”This Sakura Ancient God really knew how to pick a spot,” Chu Sheng marveled, clicking his tongue.

”Who would ever think the entrance was in a volcano, unless they had a death wish?”

”Even if someone else knew the Magical Treasure was on Mount Fuji, they would never dare to jump into the crater!”

There were still about twenty minutes until the ”gate” opened at eleven o’clock.

With nothing better to do, Chu Sheng immersed his Divine Thought into the Ancient Mother Nest to check on his Insect Race army.

[Spirit-Devouring Worms: 1,350 (Seventh-Grade Early Stage), 96 (Specially Modified)]

[Bloodthirsty Demon Bees: 53,700 (Seventh-Grade Early Stage), 3,200 (Fifth-Grade Late Stage/Peak)]

[Insect Beasts from the Witch Race’s Ten Thousand Insects Hall: 1,000 (Varying realms and abilities)]

[Golden Silkworm King Gu (First Layer of the Life and Death Realm)]

[Current Remaining Life Essence: 298,000,000]

In order to snatch the divinity from Amaterasu Yuan, Chu Sheng had deployed an army of three hundred thousand from his Insect Race, but in the end, fewer than sixty thousand remained.

The Spirit-Devouring Worms had charged at the front. Of the original sixty thousand, only a little over one thousand survived.

The Bloodthirsty Demon Bees suffered the most casualties. Their original ranks of two hundred thousand had been whittled down to just over fifty thousand.

As for the rarer special units, like the Mantis Battle-Beasts and Reconnaissance Lice, they were all but wiped out.

Fortunately, he had previously intercepted the Life Essence from the entire Eastern Capital, netting him a full three hundred million, which more than compensated for the losses to his Insect Race army.

’Three hundred million Life Essence... how should I spend it?’

’Should I keep upgrading the Golden Silkworm King Gu and see if I can get it to the Emperor Realm?’

’If the Golden Silkworm King Gu reaches the Emperor Realm, I’ll be able to do whatever I want. How awesome would that be!’

’Or maybe I should upgrade those gu-insects from the Witch Race’s Ten Thousand Insects Hall.’

’There might be a pleasant surprise in store.’

’Or perhaps I should upgrade the Spirit-Devouring Worms and Bloodthirsty Demon Bees, since their grades are too low.’

’They’re only at the Seventh and Fifth-Grades right now. They’ll be practically useless in my future battles.’

After a moment of thought, Chu Sheng decided to try upgrading the Golden Silkworm King Gu first.

’If I can actually get it to the Emperor Realm, it’d definitely be the best value.’

”System, upgrade the Golden Silkworm King Gu’s level.”

[Ding! The Golden Silkworm King Gu has been upgraded to the Second Layer of the Life and Death Realm. 120,000,000 Life Essence consumed.]

”How much???”

Chu Sheng was dumbfounded.

He counted the zeros one by one, three times over, before he could confirm that it was one hundred and twenty million Life Essence.

Upgrading the Golden Silkworm King Gu to the First Layer of the Life and Death Realm had only cost sixty million Life Essence.

’I can’t believe it! Going from the First to the Second Layer of the Life and Death Realm just doubled the cost. One hundred and twenty million, just like that!’

He couldn’t help but ask, ”System, how much Life Essence would it take to upgrade from the Second Layer to the Third Layer of the Life and Death Realm?”

[Upgrading the Golden Silkworm King Gu to the Third Layer of the Life and Death Realm requires 250,000,000 Life Essence.]

The system’s voice was as cold and mechanical as ever, offering no room for negotiation.

’I converted the Life Essence of the entire Eastern Capital for three hundred million, and I can’t even raise the Golden Silkworm King Gu by two minor realms?’

’That Amaterasu Yuan absorbed Life Essence and went straight from the Emperor Realm Middle Stage to the Peak of Emperor Realm!’

Chu Sheng couldn’t help but voice his complaints to the system.

[Amaterasu Yuan reached the Peak of Emperor Realm by absorbing Life Essence, but that was only a temporary state.]

[The realms upgraded by this system are permanent.]

Fine.

Chu Sheng was instantly at a loss for words. The system had a point.

’No matter how powerful a temporary state is, it’s not as good as a permanent one. Even though the cost is huge, it’s worth it.’
