Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

「Beneath the Meridian Gate.」

Xuanyuan Qing slowly descended from mid-air.

Dressed in spotless white robes, he seemed out of place against the backdrop of carnage and gore.

A curious smile played on his lips, as if the soul-stirring battle to the death had been nothing more than a decent play.

As he landed, he naturally became the center of attention.

Or rather, he, Gu Yuexi, and Chu Sheng became the focus of countless eyes across the entire Great Xia.

Everyone held their breath, their eyes glued to the light screens.

’What is this Xuanyuan Qing going to do?’

Liu Canglan was dead, the Blood Prison Grand Array was broken, and the remaining six Patriarchs were thoroughly cowed, clearly not daring to make another move.

’Is he going to keep fighting?’

Xuanyuan Qing seemed to revel in being the center of attention. He straightened his immaculate sleeves and walked right up to Gu Yuexi.

His gaze was as arrogant as ever, filled with an innate superiority that viewed all living beings as ants.

He didn’t waste any words. He simply looked at Gu Yuexi—or rather, at the sword in her hand—and spoke four words in a matter-of-fact tone.

”Give me the sword.”

The moment he finished speaking, everyone, whether at the Meridian Gate or watching the live stream online, was stunned.

’That’s it?’

’So direct?’

’So entitled?’

To hear him talk, one would think the sword already belonged to him.

In an instant, all sorts of thoughts exploded in countless people’s minds.

’How shameless!’

’This is just taking advantage of her weakness! It’s broad-daylight robbery!’

’She just fought to the death and exhausted all her strength, and now you show up to reap the rewards? Is this all the Xuanyuan Family amounts to?’

Of course, some people had a different opinion.

’This, perhaps, is the domineering nature of the Xuanyuan Family, the head of the Top Three Families!’

’In their eyes, any treasure in the world they take a fancy to is theirs. No reason or explanation needed.’

Hearing this, Gu Yuexi was also slightly taken aback.

A trace of unconcealed disdain flashed in her cold eyes.

And then...

She did something that stunned everyone.

She actually let go of the hand gripping the sword.

Without a word, she casually flicked her wrist. The ancient longsword, Sword Scabbard and all, plunged with a THUD straight into the ground between her and Xuanyuan Qing.

The blade quivered, embedding itself a few inches deep, standing firm and steady.

After doing this, she retracted her hand and stared coldly at him, not saying a word.

Uh...

For a moment, everyone was dumbfounded.

’Is she... giving up?’

’This... This is completely out of character for Gu Yuexi!’

From her sudden emergence at the Global Martial Dao Tournament, to her lone battle against the seven great families at Jing University, to today’s bloody fight at the Meridian Gate.

The name Gu Yuexi had long since become a household name.

Everyone’s impression of her could be summed up in one word—arrogant!

It was a pride that came from her very bones, a pride that would rather die than submit!

But now, she actually... handed over the sword just like that?

’Even... even she... has yielded?’

In the crowd, the students of Jing University all clenched their fists in anger, their nails digging deep into their palms.

They felt indignant on Gu Yuexi’s behalf.

But in the end, their clenched fists could only go limp in helplessness.

’Right, what else could she do but yield?’

She and the Divine Mosquito had both fought to their last ounce of strength; they were completely spent.

And facing them was the unfathomable Xuanyuan Family.

In this situation, continuing to resist would be meaningless, nothing more than throwing her life away.

Among everyone present, only Chu Sheng, perched listlessly on Gu Yuexi’s shoulder and too weak to even bother flapping his wings, showed no surprise.

He watched Gu Yuexi’s actions, a hint of amusement in his small compound eyes.

Heh.

...

「Opposite them.」

Seeing Gu Yuexi being so ”sensible,” the smug look on Xuanyuan Qing’s face deepened.

’Hah, so what if you’re arrogant? In the face of absolute power, in my presence, you still have to bow your head obediently.’

’What was the point of fighting those lower seven families to the death? For me, it was a matter settled with a single sentence.’

’Hmph, you know what’s good for you.’

He sneered inwardly.

’Just you wait. I’ll take this peerless sword first, and then I’ll take you, too!’

’Such a treasure, such a beauty—they should all belong to me, Xuanyuan Qing!’

At this thought, Xuanyuan Qing could no longer contain his excitement and fervor. He strode over to the sword and reached out to grasp the Sword Scabbard.

However, just as his hand was about to touch the Sword Scabbard...

BUZZ...

A faint, ripple-like glow suddenly bloomed on the surface of the ancient Sword Scabbard.

This layer of light seemed incredibly weak, as if it would shatter with a single touch.

But when Xuanyuan Qing’s fingers touched it, he felt as if he had hit an insurmountable, transparent wall. No matter how hard he pushed, he couldn’t move forward another inch.

Hm?

Xuanyuan Qing’s brows furrowed.

’What’s going on? There’s a restriction?’

Refusing to believe it, he abruptly increased the force in his hand, his body’s Qi Blood Power erupting in an instant.

But it was useless.

No matter how hard he tried, the thin layer of light remained indestructible, his hand firmly blocked.

Seeing this, the expressions on the faces of the surrounding people began to turn strange.

The six remaining Patriarchs also exchanged glances, not understanding what was happening.

In the distance, the old servant Zhao Li, who had been standing guard for Xuanyuan Qing, narrowed his cloudy old eyes, a sharp glint appearing within them.

’There’s something strange about this sword.’

Xuanyuan Qing’s expression soured.

He gritted his teeth, gave up on grabbing the Sword Scabbard, and instead reached directly for the exposed hilt.

’If the Sword Scabbard has a restriction, I’ll just grab the hilt directly!’

’I’ll draw the sword!’

This time, however, the sword’s reaction was even more violent than before!

The instant his hand was about to touch the hilt...

BOOM!

An immense force, a hundred times stronger than before, erupted from the hilt!

A brilliant golden light flared!

”Ah!”

Xuanyuan Qing felt an irresistible force slam into him, as if he’d been hit head-on by an Ancient Fierce Beast. With a cry of pain, he was sent flying backward.

Fortunately, behind him, Old Zhao Li was quick to react. With a flash, he appeared behind Xuanyuan Qing and caught him securely.

...

Watching this incredibly dramatic scene unfold, a cold smile finally touched the corners of Gu Yuexi’s mouth.

Normally, if someone had dared to speak to her in such a tone and demand her sword, she would have struck them down with it without a second thought.

But the current situation was indeed different.

She and that damn mosquito were both exhausted.

At lower realms, Qi Blood and Mental Power might be quickly replenished with Elixirs. But at their current level, the amount consumed by every full-power attack was simply too immense.

Even Celestial Tier Elixirs couldn’t grant a full recovery in a short time. For example, the Earth Tier Elixirs that Chu Sheng had previously obtained provided a recovery amount that was a mere drop in the bucket for him now.

So, a moment ago, Gu Yuexi hadn’t mindlessly chosen to fight him head-on.

She was arrogant, but she was also smart.

She knew the origin of this sword very well.

Back in the divine tomb under the sea, she had stood before the sword, comprehending it for a long time, before finally gaining its recognition and being able to pick it up.

This sword has a spirit. Only one it has acknowledged can wield it.

In this era, Gu Yuexi was absolutely confident that, besides herself, there wasn’t a single other person who could lift this sword...

’Oh, I almost forgot.’

She glanced at the weak, damn mosquito on her shoulder, a complicated look in her eyes.

’This mosquito is an exception.’
