Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Kyoto, around the Meridian Gate.

The crowd of onlookers was growing larger and larger.

This was already the hottest topic in the Capital City recently.

What? You’re asking if the war in the Northern Domain wasn’t the hottest topic?

To that, I can only reply... some still feast while the kingdom is at war.

The war in the Northern Domain was world-shaking, a matter of national destiny. But for the vast majority of ordinary citizens and Low Tier Martial Artists, it was simply too far away.

So distant it felt like a story from another world. Beyond shock and admiration, it was difficult for them to feel a personal connection.

But the incident at the Meridian Gate was different.

This was happening right under everyone’s noses, in the capital city of the Great Xia.

Trapped in the cages were two of Capital City University’s most renowned chosen ones.

And the one who had set this prison was the legendary Xuanyuan Family, a Noble Family that rarely showed itself to the world.

A top university, chosen ones, a reclusive powerhouse, public humiliation... All these elements combined to create a spectacle more exciting than any storybook, one that truly struck a nerve with the public.

...

Beneath the Meridian Gate.

Gu Yuexi paid no mind to the vanished Xuanyuan Qing, nor did she heed the clamorous discussions around her.

She walked straight toward the bluestone of the ”water-drips-through-stone” challenge. Within her cold, clear eyes, countless runes seemed to flow as if she intended to see through its mysteries completely.

Watching Gu Yuexi’s movements, Chu Sheng immediately understood her intention.

Heh.

’That guy, Xuanyuan Qing, came out and spouted a whole lot of nonsense, even striking a ”feel free to try and break it” pose... He’s clearly got absolute confidence in the Xuanyuan Family’s methods.’

’He’s certain that no one can break these two Light Cards set by the Xuanyuan Family, which is why he dares to be so arrogant.’

’Fine. If that’s how it is.’

’Since you’re so confident in your methods, we’ll start by shattering this proud little trick of yours!’

’Let’s give him a good, hard slap in the face first!’

’Gu Yuexi has already gone for the water-drips-through-stone trial, so this remaining ”fire-burns-the-golden-lock” one is naturally mine.’

’Perfect. Lord Mosquito happens to have a little bit of experience when it comes to playing with fire.’

With that thought, Chu Sheng vibrated his wings and flew toward the cluster of eerie black flames on the other side.

...

Seeing the person and the mosquito actually split up and head toward the two strange trials, the crowd once again erupted into an uproar.

”Am I seeing things? What are they doing? Are they really going to try and break the seals?”

”Are you kidding me?! Those professors at Jing University are all Emperor Realm Powerhouses! Even they were helpless. What can these two youngsters possibly do?”

”I think they’re just putting on a show. After all, Shen Yixuan and the others were locked up because of them. If they don’t at least make an effort, how will they face anyone at Jing University in the future?”

”That makes sense. Anyone can pretend to try. When they fail, they can just say, ’I did my best.’ How perfect.”

All sorts of discussions rose and fell, but the vast majority of people were just there for the show, their words filled with disbelief and schadenfreude.

Atop the Meridian Gate’s tower, within the two invisible cages.

Shen Yixuan and Luo Qingyu also noticed the situation below.

Trapped inside, they couldn’t transmit any sound to the outside world. Their immense Qi Blood was completely sealed by a mysterious power, rendering them immobile.

For the past ten days, they had endured not just physical torment, but immense spiritual humiliation.

When they saw Gu Yuexi and Chu Sheng appear, a flicker of light finally returned to their exhausted faces.

’They came back?’

’They’re okay?’

’Could it be that the Ten Great Clans finally caved under pressure and lifted the arrest warrant?’

But when they saw Gu Yuexi and Chu Sheng actually begin to try and break the cages, the spark of hope that had just ignited was quickly extinguished.

’It’s useless.’

’They knew Gu Yuexi and Chu Sheng were strong—absurdly strong, even.’

’But these cages involved a level of Law that was completely beyond their comprehension. Even the Emperor Realm professors at the university, who had been immersed in this field for decades, couldn’t make sense of it. What could these two possibly do?’

The spirits they had just managed to raise plummeted to rock bottom once more.

...

「Time passed, minute by minute.」

The crowd of gawkers grew, and some, out of boredom, even started taking bets on how long it would take for Gu Yuexi and Chu Sheng to give up.

Many more pulled out their phones and started live-streaming, their titles growing more sensational by the minute.

”SHOCKING! The Future Empress and the Divine Mosquito Challenge the Xuanyuan Family! Overconfidence or True Ability?”

”LIVE REPORT! Jing University Geniuses Humiliated at the Meridian Gate! Can Their Former Companions Turn the Tide?”

Below the Meridian Gate.

Gu Yuexi came to a stop before the bluestone. She watched it quietly for a few seconds, then slowly extended a slender, jade-like finger to catch a falling drop of water.

「The instant her finger touched the water droplet.」

Her world changed in a flash.

Everything around her vanished. She found herself standing on a boundless, transparent ocean.

The ocean was terrifyingly quiet, without a single ripple. Above, below, and all around was the same water, like a cage made of liquid.

Gu Yuexi’s heart stirred.

’This is... a world of Power? Or something similar to a world of Power?’

’To be able to casually set up a Power of this level... is that so-called old servant of the Xuanyuan Family an Emperor Realm Powerhouse?’

’But among the eight publicly known Emperor Realm experts in the Great Xia, one is indeed from the Xuanyuan Family, but he’s certainly no old servant.’

’This Xuanyuan Family is as mysterious as they say.’

’Even in my past life, before my fall, I never had much direct contact with this most ancient of families.’

「The moment Gu Yuexi was lost in thought.」

SPLASH!!!

The calm surface of the sea ahead suddenly, without warning, churned into a monstrous, thousand-meter-tall wave that bore down on her, carrying the power to crush everything in its path.

The thousand-meter wave was like the sky and earth flipping upside down.

Gu Yuexi frowned, instinctively wanting to dodge.

But the moment the thought arose, the scene before her eyes shifted again, and she was back beneath the Meridian Gate.

The drop of water at her fingertip had already passed through her finger and fallen.

DRIP.

The sound was the same as ever.

’Was it an illusion?’

In the eyes of the onlookers, Gu Yuexi’s recent action was simply to extend a finger and stand there in a daze for a few seconds. Nothing had happened at all.

Gu Yuexi’s gaze sharpened.

’I see.’

’That ocean, that colossal wave... it was all a Spiritual Attack constructed from the pure Power of Law. The moment my will showed the slightest waver, I was instantly ejected.’

’Heh, interesting.’

’Trying to compete with me on the understanding of Law?’

’In my past life, when I dominated the world, there was never anyone I feared when it came to Law.’

Without the slightest hesitation, she once again reached out her hand and caught the next falling drop of water.
