Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Lord Mosquito! Is the Real Final Boss

Xiao Ran was the first to notice Gu Yuexi. He looked up, forcing a smile that was more pained than tears. “We’ve made a fool of ourselves. We… lost pretty badly…”

He’d had bad luck, matched against Lin Feng from Canglan Province in the third round.

He had thought that even if he lost, he would at least be able to exchange a few dozen blows and gauge his opponent’s true strength.

But what was the result?

Ten moves!

He was defeated in just ten moves!

From start to finish, he hadn’t even been able to force his opponent to draw the longsword from his back!

The sheer force of that incomparably sharp Minor Success Sword Intent had suffocated him, preventing him from using even seventy percent of his strength!

’How was I supposed to fight that?!’

Bitterness flooded Xiao Ran’s heart. He finally understood why rumors claimed that Lin Feng had once slain a Third-Grade Late Stage Demon Beast with a single sword strike.

It was probably… true!

’That guy’s true combat power has definitely surpassed that of an ordinary Peak of Third-Grade Martial Artist!’

’He might even be able to fight to the death against a First Transformation Powerhouse who had just stepped into the Qi Blood Melting Furnace Realm!’

’The gap… it’s too vast! So vast it’s despairing!’

On the other side, Chu Yiran also quietly raised her head. Though she said nothing, her beautiful eyes were similarly filled with desolation and helplessness.

She had been matched against Mu Linyuan from Celestial Fire Province.

She had thought that with her agile Body Technique and exquisite Martial Techniques, she might be able to cause him some trouble.

But she was wrong.

In the face of absolute power, all flashy techniques seemed utterly pale and powerless.

With a single charge from Mu Linyuan’s Purple Fire Qilin, the Defensive Martial Technique she was so proud of shattered instantly, as if it were made of paper.

She didn’t even have time to make a second move before his Lifebound Talent Attack pinned her to the spot, immobilizing her completely!

She didn’t even have a chance to concede before the referee declared her defeat.

’What an absolute humiliation!’

Chu Yiran took a deep breath and looked at Gu Yuexi with a complicated expression.

’It seems my previous guess was right. I’m afraid the best Gu Yuexi can do is fight for third place.’

’So what if she can use her three Perfect Fulfillment Realms to fight an ordinary Peak of Third-Grade expert above her level?’

’Those two monsters seem like they could effortlessly annihilate any ordinary Peak of Third-Grade expert!’

’The difference in our realms is simply too great!’

’It’s completely insurmountable!’

Following the successive, crushing defeats of the three top geniuses—Xiao Ran, Chu Yiran, and Qin Zheng—a deathly silence of despair permeated the entire Sui Ming Province rest area.

Mocking chatter began to bubble up from the contestants of the other two provinces.

“Tsk tsk, is this the best Sui Ming Province can do? Their strongest can’t even last ten moves against Lin Feng?”

“To be fair, though, that Gu Yuexi is pretty damn incredible. She really does have three Perfect Fulfillment Realms! It’s absolutely heaven-defying!”

“It’s useless, though. Her comprehension doesn’t match her talent. Her realm is too low, so she can only beat up on weaklings! The moment she faces Lin Feng or Mu Linyuan, she’ll get taken out in a single move!”

“Haha, looks like Sui Ming Province is just here to take last place this year. The battle for Champion Scholar has absolutely nothing to do with them!”

These grating voices were like steel needles, piercing the hearts of every teacher and student from Sui Ming Province, filling them with shame and indignation, yet they were powerless to argue back.

Just as everyone was mired in a fog of gloom and despair,

only Xiao Ran slowly raised his head, his complex gaze falling upon the inconspicuous little mosquito sleeping soundly on top of Gu Yuexi’s head.

’He knew it wouldn’t happen!’

’With that mosquito here, the Champion Scholar title is definitely going to Sui Ming!’

’Monsters?’

’They think *they’re* monsters?’

Xiao Ran would bet his life on it: the gap between him and Lin Feng was absolutely, positively, far, far smaller than the gap between Lin Feng and that mosquito!

’That mosquito! *That* is the real… final boss of this three-province joint exam!’

And right now, this final boss was sleeping soundly, right under everyone’s noses.

…

Time passed, and the competition proceeded round by round.

On the giant electronic screen, the contestants’ names dimmed one by one.

The battles in the arena grew increasingly fierce. Many contestants, hailed as the pride of their hometowns, were eliminated one after another after encountering insurmountable foes, dejectedly leaving the stage.

The atmosphere of the entire tournament grounds was pushed to one climax after another.

Finally, when only four contestants remained, the entire crowd seemed to hold its breath!

The lineup for the semifinals appeared before everyone’s eyes!

First Match: [Canglan Province] Lin Feng VS [Celestial Fire Province] Mu Linyuan!

Second Match: [Sui Ming Province] Gu Yuexi VS [Celestial Fire Province] Zhao Ke!

BOOM—!!!

After a moment of stunned silence, the entire venue erupted in a tsunami of cheers and shouts!

It’s here! It’s finally here!

Although it was only the semifinals, in the eyes of almost everyone, this duel between Lin Feng and Mu Linyuan was the final championship match, playing out ahead of schedule!

The victor would, without a doubt, ascend to the pinnacle of the three provinces!

As for that Gu Yuexi… reaching the top four was already a stroke of immense luck. Her dark horse run ended here.

On the main platform, Zhou Qing and Li Jianye, two high-ranking Governors, found themselves becoming uncontrollably nervous.

The final moment to decide the Champion Scholar between their two provinces had finally arrived!

Amidst this atmosphere of immense anticipation, Lin Feng and Mu Linyuan slowly walked onto the central arena stage.

On the stage, Mu Linyuan was dressed in brocade robes, his face handsome, but his eyes were as sharp as a hawk’s.

He gazed from across the stage at the indifferent-looking Lin Feng, who carried a longsword on his back, and his own resolve hardened.

’Champion Scholar!’

’I must take the Champion Scholar title of this three-province joint exam!’

Mu Linyuan hailed from the top-tier Mu Family of Hong Kong Island, but he was an illegitimate son, a stain on the family’s honor.

His entire life, he had endured the strange looks of others and their endless ridicule behind his back.

His father, that high-and-mighty Mu Family Patriarch, had always been completely indifferent to him, his gaze as cold as if he were looking at a stranger.

Meanwhile, his older half-brother was the family’s publicly acknowledged “Qilin’Er,” a figure of immense brilliance!

Mu Linyuan refused to accept it!

He had cultivated with frenzied devotion, putting in a hundred, a thousand times more effort than any normal person, all for the day he could stand on the highest stage and make his cold father see with his own eyes that he, the illegitimate son, was not one bit inferior to the legitimate heir!

This three-province joint exam was merely the first step in proving himself.

His older brother had won the title of Champion Scholar of Zhonghai back in the day! So he, now, could also win the title of Champion Scholar of these three provinces!

’I must win!’

As Mu Linyuan roared in his heart, the Mental Power at the center of his brow exploded outward!

Beside him, purple flames shot into the sky. His Contracted Beast—the Purple Fire Qilin—let out a roar and charged toward Lin Feng with world-destroying might!

Alas, dreams are beautiful, but reality… is cruelly suffocating.

Facing his all-out, ultimate attack, Lin Feng finally drew the sword from his back.

In that instant, a terrifying Sword Intent that defied description enveloped the entire arena!

It was as if, between heaven and earth, only this single sword strike remained!

“An… an Innate Sword Body!”

Governor Zhou Qing on the main platform cried out in shock!

The sword light flashed and vanished.

With devastating ease.

Mu Linyuan’s prized Purple Fire Qilin let out a pitiful cry, its flames instantly extinguished as it was sent flying backward.

And he himself, as if struck by lightning, was thrown from the arena in a wretched state, a sword wound deep enough to reveal bone on his chest as he coughed up mouthfuls of blood.

Defeated…

Defeated in a single strike…

Mu Linyuan lay on the ground, staring blankly at the sky. He could feel the Sword Intent rampaging through his meridians, and in that instant, his entire conviction completely shattered.

All of his pride, all of his hard work, became a pathetic joke in the face of those three words: “Innate Sword Body”!

His face instantly turned as pale as a sheet, the color of ash.

’It’s over… Everything is over…’

’My father’s approval, my status in the family… it’s all gone up in smoke…’

He was helped up, looking utterly crestfallen, and could only keep mechanically comforting himself:

“It’s okay… It’s okay… Losing to an Innate Sword Body is no disgrace…”

“I… At least I’m the Champion Scholar of Celestial Fire Province…”

“Second place in the three-province joint exam… is… is still okay! Father… should be satisfied with that, right…?”

His voice grew fainter and fainter, filled with endless confusion and self-doubt, like a pitiful child who had lost all his toys.

「Just then.」

The referee’s voice rang through the air—

“Arena One, Lin Feng wins!”

“Arena Two, Gu Yuexi wins!”

“In ten minutes, the final battle will begin!!”

“The final match: [Sui Ming Province] Gu Yuexi VS [Canglan Province] Lin Feng!”
