Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Wang Menglin always knew since she was a child that she was not favored.

Actually, she was more mature than the average child. She was aware of everything but didn’t want to express it. She knew that even if she cried or made a fuss, it would be useless.

The man seldom came home, and her mother would go looking for her, and at that time she was at her grandmother’s house. So after her mother passed away, she didn’t want to follow that man to her grandmother’s house.

”Cousin, do you think it’s worth it?”

”Xiao Zhen, I think it’s worth it. I like the Li Family. In the future, I must live with the two elders. By then, we can live for decades, and after the elders pass away, I will have my own children.”

”But don’t you want to find a man you like?”

”Can I like men? Do you think I can? I’ve disliked all that romantic stuff since I was young.

My mother’s fate hasn’t warned me enough.

I trust the character of the Li Family. Li Manjiang can’t be too bad, so as long as he’s honest, we can live a lifetime together.”

”Cousin, won’t such a life be too boring?”

”Xiao Zhen, what kind of fun do you want? Your future marriage might not be as free as mine. So I suggest you let go of liking that person.

You have no chance to choose for yourself, so why not choose someone that benefits you?”

Tao YanZhen thought what her cousin said was right, observing Li Manjiang should be able to gain her grandfather’s approval, so her cousin wouldn’t have to marry someone with no choice at all.

”Cousin, I understand what you mean.”

The next day, the two finished breakfast by six o’clock, and Wang Menglin took Tao YanZhen to the county on a bike.

They had already decided to bike directly to the county to save waiting for the bus.

They understood that Li Yungui was considerate enough to give them a holiday, and they didn’t want to be tactless.

Coming back early also allowed them to start work, not putting Li Yungui in a difficult position.

The two sisters took turns riding the bicycle; as they were trained from a young age, their physical strength was good, so they arrived at the transportation team by eight.

They called their grandfather to say that this matter wasn’t suitable for the post office.

Today, Jin Erlin was quite surprised to see them.

”Why are just you two here? Where’s Xiao Chun?”

”Uncle Jin, it’s the big autumn festival in the village, and taking leave is embarrassing. We’re here to call my grandfather.”

”Okay, have you two eaten?”

They both nodded, ”We’ve eaten.”

”Go to my office to make the call.”

Jin Erlin didn’t avoid them, helped them dial, felt it was nothing, and didn’t leave.

Wang Menglin heard her grandpa’s voice and got teary-eyed.

”Grandpa, it’s me, Meng Lin.”

”How’s it over there?”

”Very well, unexpectedly well. Uncle Jin arranged everything, and the village we joined is particularly good. The three of us are quite at ease.”

Mr. Yao didn’t believe her words. The kids always reported the good but not the bad.

”Grandpa, I’m calling to tell you I’ve set my sights on a man.”

Jin Erlin was drinking water, choked on Wang Menglin’s words, and coughed several times.

”Menglin?”

Wang Menglin told her grandfather about Li Manjiang’s background, ”Grandpa, if you have time now, hurry and check. Xiao Zhen and I are waiting for news here.

Li Manjiang is on vacation at home. I heard he can stay at home for forty days. If possible, we can settle it.”

The granddaughter was a thoughtful girl. He wondered what was good about this man she mentioned.

”Okay, I’ve noted it down. I’ll check immediately.”

Wang Menglin felt her cousin tugging her, ”Grandpa, Xiao Zhen wants to talk to you.”

Tao YanZhen took the phone but didn’t speak to grandpa immediately. She looked at Jin Erlin and her cousin, ”Cousin, go help Uncle Jin get some rice. We’re running low at home.”

Both understood that Tao YanZhen wanted to speak to the elder alone.

”Menglin, come on, I’ll take you to the grain station. A lot of noodles arrived yesterday; take some more home.”

Wang Menglin glanced at her cousin and went out with Jin Erlin.

”Grandpa, it’s me, Xiao Zhen.”

”What’s going on with your cousin?”

”Grandpa, investigate this Li Manjiang carefully. He should be well-trained.

I also think he’s good. My cousin is drawn to his family; she likes his mother.”

Mr. Yao felt sorry hearing his granddaughter’s words. His daughter was ignorant, very indifferent to his granddaughter, so the child never experienced maternal love.

”Okay, I got it. I’ll check right away.”

After hanging up, Tao YanZhen sat aside waiting.

She knew her cousin and Jin Erlin would return soon. After all, they had to wait for grandpa’s call.

Jin Erlin and the two came back with one bike each, finally buying fifty kilograms of rice and fifty kilograms of noodles.

”Uncle Jin, let’s go back. I’m afraid we’ll miss grandpa’s call.”

Jin Erlin could only sigh. This girl was so direct. The man she had her eye on was quite lucky.

Judging by their conversation, it was Li Yungui’s eldest son.

He knew the Li Family’s eldest son had been away for many years, always in the army; the old commander should agree.

He didn’t expect the girl to be so bold and direct.

After sending Wang Menglin back to the transportation team, Jin Erlin decided not to go in, leaving them to their family conversations.

”Menglin, you go in. I’ll get some meat for you. The big autumn festival is exhausting.”

”Thank you, Uncle Jin. Do you need meat coupons? I have some.”

”No need. Just do your own thing.”

Wang Menglin went into the office and looked at her cousin.

”Cousin, grandpa hasn’t called yet.”

Wang Menglin nodded and sat on the other side, ”Xiao Zhen, do you think grandpa will agree?”

”After you left, I mentioned my prediction about Li Manjiang. He seems capable; grandpa won’t miss such a person.”

Wang Menglin propped her elbows on the table, resting her chin in her hand, ”I hope grandpa can agree. If not, I’ll try to become close with the village chief’s family.”

Tao YanZhen looked at her cousin speechlessly, determined to connect with the Li Family.

”Cousin, if grandpa agrees, how will you tell the village chief’s wife?”

”Why not be straightforward? I’m not bad myself. They shouldn’t look down on me, right?”

Only now did Wang Menglin realize that maybe they might look down on her.

Now she was a bit anxious, feeling a bit uneasy.

She comforted herself, thinking that this issue shouldn’t arise. She was confident in her appearance. If the lady didn’t like her, she wouldn’t have been so kind to her.

This shouldn’t occur that they’d look down on her.

At this moment, the phone on the table rang.

Wang Menglin quickly picked up the receiver.

”Menglin?”

”Grandpa.”

”I just checked. If you’re willing and they’re willing, I agree too.”
