Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 838: Chapter 838: Confirmation

So, Li Yungui agreed. Even if both families chose the same day, it would work out since there are two tractors in the village.

Now, neither the son nor the nephew is around. Just having Shuangjiang and Xiao Shuang drive the tractor to fetch the new brides is just fine.

In fact, Li Family Village has already gained a reputation among the surrounding villages. Families with daughters now all want to become in-laws with Li Family Village.

The cabbages have all been divided up. Jiang Xinyu’s family, apart from the ones in their private plot, also got more than two hundred and seventy cabbages, although some weren’t fully grown, there weren’t many, only about thirty.

The two weren’t in a rush. Early in the morning, they went down to the cellar, preparing the ones that weren’t fully grown as sour pickles.

Exactly two big vats of sour pickles; Jiang Xinyu pickled so many primarily to give some to Old Yang and his folks, and to Master Lu’s group as well. Her family wouldn’t be able to eat that much, and she wasn’t planning on having the family eat too much of this kind of dish.

Now there aren’t any more crops to harvest in the fields. Li Yungui came over to confirm the specific class schedule with Jiang Xinyu.

”Village Chief Li, classes can start tomorrow, but I want to survey everyone’s expectations for the children’s future.”

”Expectations?”

”Like whether they want their children to go on to junior high, high school, or even college, or if they just want them to be literate and able to do accounting.

Once I have an understanding, I can decide how to teach.”

”Oh, then I’ll hold a meeting. Everyone who has children should come to the brigade headquarters, it’ll be easier to keep track this way.”

”Should I head over in an hour?”

”Sure, Teacher Jiang, our kids all want to continue studying. Even though they can’t settle into learning now, we believe there will be opportunities.”

”Alright, I’ll tabulate everything and come up with a reasonable plan.”

Li Yungui went to inform the families in the village who wanted their children to go to school.

Everyone moved quickly; the brigade headquarters was crowded within half an hour.

Everyone whispered among themselves. They all knew why the village chief had called them over, so they gathered in small groups to discuss.

”I want my son Chengzi to study. He’s good at reciting, and our lives have hope now. We can afford to send our kids to school.”

”My Dongzi isn’t as bright as your Chengzi, but I still want him to go to school. At least he shouldn’t be like us, illiterate. Maybe he’ll have a chance to get a job in future.”

The conversation was scattered, but mainly focused on letting the children continue studying.

Li Yungui knew their thoughts, mainly because Teacher Jiang was teaching the children without charging tuition, just earning work points.

Those work points belonged to everyone, and they felt it was a loss if their children didn’t come to school.

Actually, Li Yungui hoped for it. Given the chance, he wanted to seize it. Previously, the village was poor and for various reasons didn’t have educated youth come over, so only he and his fourth brother have attended school in the village.

However, when looking at villages with educated youth, they didn’t utilize resources to have them teach the children. Besides, those young people can’t compare to Teacher Jiang. His niece said that Teacher Jiang’s lectures are better than their teachers.’

When Jiang Xinyu arrived, everyone already had a unified opinion.

Jiang Xinyu raised an eyebrow, surprised that people who couldn’t read had such awareness.

”Alright, since everyone has decided, I’ll say this: right now everyone’s level is practically the same, so you’ll all be in the same class regardless of age. The few kids who have been to school, since you are in different grades, will form a separate class. During the day you’ll self-study and help each other, and come to me for night study.

I’ll explain the content you don’t understand separately.

But you all know my situation; I also have children to take care of, so there will only be an hour each evening.”

Everyone felt reassured after hearing this. Classes would start from tomorrow.

”Village Chief Li, I don’t have elementary school textbooks. Can you try to find me textbooks from elementary to high school? This way, I can understand the pace of teaching.”

”Okay, I’ll look for them tomorrow. I’ll make sure to gather them within a day for Teacher Jiang.” Li Yungui thought of trying the township elementary school tomorrow; if not possible, he’d buy them with money—somehow they’d be obtained.

”As for the adults in the village, the village chief will organize everyone to recite the Red Treasure Book. And if willing, come here every evening for literacy and basic math teaching.”

”Teacher Jiang, that’s too tiring for you.”

Jiang Xinyu smiled with closed lips, ”Well, I’ll enlist help. My niece will assist in teaching literacy, having already learned all the junior high courses, it’s no problem at all.”

This reassured Li Yungui. Truthfully, Teacher Jiang’s children are very young; spending all day teaching children would indeed be exhausting.

”Alright, tomorrow we start classes. Since we want the children to study formally, let’s prepare learning supplies for them.

Village Chief Li, when you look for books tomorrow, could you check the waste station?”

”Sure, I’ll try to bring back a few more sets. Everyone also think of ways; together we’re stronger.”

Actually, just the three sisters from the Li Family are truly attending school right now; the current conditions don’t allow for more, so this is it.

Jiang Xinyu returned home, and Sister-in-law Liu had tidied up the two children already.

After feeding the two, she lay on the heated bed, pondering about the children out there and Wei Kaiyun.

She wasn’t overly worried about their safety, just found it highly uncomfortable to suddenly be apart.

Meanwhile, Wei Kaiyun had arrived at the chemical plant with his group; this place had the two raw materials they needed.

With the city’s approval, they formally approached the plant director.

A deal was quickly struck; due to the large quantity requested, delivery would be made here.

Wei Kaiyun looked at the six young men accompanying him, ”Which of you wants to escort the shipment back? Think it over; whoever handles future procurements from here will be responsible.”

Shuanzi stepped forward, ”Brother Wei, I’ll go back. Being close to home even if future procurement is less exhausting.” Riding the train was truly uncomfortable, he knew this was still early winter and summer train rides would be truly punishing.

”Okay, Shuanzi will handle things here moving forward. I’ll return tomorrow with you, so note the process and get acquainted with the staff here.”

”Yes, Brother Wei.”

Old Yang took the three children for a walk, as they weren’t familiar, they mainly toured the building. At Jiang Feifei’s request, they visited the waste station.

The little girl secretly tucked away many books, asking for nothing else, finally covering with a stack of books.
