Chapter 271: Chapter 271: The Marriage Should Be Settled

Selah Sutton looked at Daisy, her expression suddenly changed from gloomy to cheerful, and she said with a smile, ”Alright, let’s eat.”

”Second brother, sit down quickly!” Daisy Grant glanced at Dawn Sutherland who was standing still, and said with a smile.

Dawn Sutherland nodded, pulled out a chair, and sat opposite Daisy Grant.

During the meal, Mother Sutherland constantly picked dishes for Daisy, showed concern, and cared for her meticulously.

On the contrary, Dawn Sutherland quietly ate his meal without making any sound.

”By the way, Daisy, now that you’re back in the country, you should take over the Grant Clan, right?” Selah Sutton seemingly asked casually, though she had her own vested interest.

Although the Grant Family has only one daughter, and they have an engagement with the Sutherland Family, naturally there will be future interests involved, but whether Daisy Grant can inherit the Grant Clan is still uncertain. She has many uncles, and if she doesn’t have some capabilities, she may be deprived by others.

”My father plans to, but I suggested taking over a subsidiary first, and when I’m more adept, we’ll talk again. After all, I’m not familiar with the domestic market.” Daisy Grant was well aware of Mother Sutherland’s intentions and replied tactfully.

”Well, that’s true. Anyway, Aidan is not back yet. When he returns, let him help you well. When he’s back, I’ll go to the Grant Family to discuss your and Aidan’s marriage with your parents; this matter should be settled.” Selah Sutton said with a smile.

Dawn Sutherland clenched his hand holding the chopsticks, lowered his head to eat, hiding the emotions in his eyes.

Daisy Grant smiled but said nothing, taking a sip of hot soup, yet it tasted bland.

”By the way, don’t rush to work these days; just came back, don’t wear yourself out, let Dawn show you around City C.” Selah Sutton said with concern.

Daisy Grant nodded with a smile, and she had already mentioned to Dawn Sutherland before, asking him to accompany her, but he politely declined citing busyness.

”I... there’s still some work at the company, I’m afraid I won’t have much time these days.” Dawn Sutherland, being mentioned, responded indifferently.

Daisy Grant was slightly startled, looked up at him, only to see Dawn Sutherland quietly eating, unable to see his facial emotion, only hearing his refusal once again.

”What do you mean no time? What big matter can there be in a small company?” Mother Sutherland gave him a contemptuous glance and continued, ”Besides, isn’t your cooperating partner that senior young master from the Seys Family? You two have such a good relationship, even if you delay for a day or two, it shouldn’t matter, right?”

”It’s precisely because we have a good relationship, he trusts me, so I can’t let him down.” Dawn Sutherland remained unmoved and said.

”You... she’s your future sister-in-law! You find excuses for such a trivial matter!” Selah Sutton saw that Daisy Grant’s face was not good and thought it was Dawn Sutherland’s refusal that shame her, she suddenly flamed up and angrily directed at Dawn Sutherland.

This illegitimate child, she wished to keep out of sight and out of mind. Now living under the same roof every day, as soon as she sees Dawn Sutherland, she gets angry! Dawn Sutherland is evidence of her husband’s betrayal! Like a thorn stabbing in her heart! Looking at Dawn Sutherland, she just wanted to explode!

Selah Sutton’s words ”sister-in-law” made Dawn Sutherland speechless, and Daisy Grant pained.

”It’s alright, Aunt, second brother works hard for the Sutherland Family, I can go with friends.” Daisy Grant said with a bitter smile, her eyes covered with a thin layer of mist, she quickly lowered her head, fearing others would notice her abnormal emotions.

Dawn Sutherland scooped a bite of rice into his mouth, the chopsticks and bowl clearly not heavy, yet he couldn’t stop trembling. Dawn Sutherland pretended to be calm, put down the bowl and chopsticks, stood up, and lightly said to Selah Sutton and Daisy Grant at the dining table, ”I ate my fill, you take your time.”

After speaking, Dawn Sutherland calmly turned and went upstairs, his footsteps composed and steady, but the hands hanging by his sides tightly pinched into his palms betrayed his current mood.
