Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

His physique had become so powerful that he could cover almost a hundred meters of distance with just one step.

At full speed, even high-speed trains wouldn’t be able to catch up to him. With that in mind, there was no need for him to drive or ride anything. If there was a downside to it, it would be the fact that it was a bit tiring.

”Running all the time is a bad idea. When there’s an opportunity, I should get a mutated beast as a mount or something,” Lu Yuan muttered to himself. The territories were growing larger, so relying solely on running wasn’t a good idea.

Flying through the air was impossible—for now. Hence, finding a flying creature as a mount was the best choice.

Of course, he couldn’t just casually pick a mount, as he couldn’t settle for less.

In fact, Lu Yuan already had a mount in mind. It had an extremely powerful bloodline and had great potential. It would also come in handy during fights due to its exceptional combat prowess.

Of course, everything would have to wait until after this trip to the Mausoleum in Mount Li.

Lu Yuan planned his move while moving forward. Half an hour later, he stopped, gazing into the distance at Chang’an.

A massive city with many tall buildings all over it loomed in the distance. More importantly, the city was surrounded by a massive wall. The wall was a full hundred meters high and was made entirely of steel. It was markedly different from all the cities he had seen before.

If he had to describe Chang’an, he’d say that it was a steel city.

The walls were still under construction, but the fact that more and more Awakened were popping up every day meant that the walls would soon be complete.

In fact, just as Lu Yuan left Hu City, he saw large-scale defensive fortifications being built everywhere. It could be said that the five supercities were in excellent locations, encompassing all cardinal directions—east, west, south, north, and the center.

There were also fortifications along two coastal areas to ensure that mutated beasts from overseas couldn’t easily invade the supercities.

However, these supercities were only being constructed in Huaxia, for now. The nations abroad had yet to make any moves like it, but it was normal. After all, only Huaxia had the logistical prowess and determination to make such a move.

After a while, Lu Yuan finally made his way to Chang’an, but he deliberately slowed down. While he was taking his time, he discovered many people on the road, moving closer to Chang’an.

Some were driving, some were running, some were even riding horses. There were also quite a few helicopters streaking across the sky. Lu Yuan saw a steady stream of Awakened who had stepped onto the path of evolution, but the majority of them were only at the Foundation Realm.

Some had horns growing from their heads, while some had grown long tails. In short, each of them sported bizarre features that made them immediately recognizable as Awakened. Of course, this was normal, as they had yet to master the power and bloodline inside them.

Their grasp of their abilities was very rudimentary.

Not everyone could be like Lu Yuan, after all.

”It seems the news about the Mausoleum in Mount Li has been leaked.”

Lu Yuan sighed. At first, only the major forces were aware of it, but it couldn’t be concealed forever, especially when humans were still living around Mount Li.

People would surely learn of it, but there was another point of concern. A major force could be hoping that news of it would spread, as it would certainly attract more Awakened.

The gathering of so many Awakened could easily become chaotic, and perhaps some people were hoping to take advantage of that chaos.

The Mausoleum in Mount Li was the resting place of the Primordial Dragon, and it had always been an extraordinary place. If something unusual were to occur, something remarkable would surely emerge. After all, the place was no less famous than the famed mountains and rivers.

The more famous the mountain was, the bigger the chance that very powerful mutated beasts could emerge from it.

At the moment, the Mausoleum in Mount Li was probably not as dangerous as those famous mountains and rivers.

However, the Mausoleum in Mount Li could be said to be attracting worldwide attention at the moment. Storm clouds were gathering over it, so stronger Awakened were bound to show up later on.

However, Lu Yuan couldn’t care less about any of that. He was determined to obtain what was inside, and no one could stop him!

Without giving it another thought, he walked into Chang’an.

Meanwhile, several helicopters slowly made their way into Chang’an.

Those whose paths were blocked by the helicopters were about to complain, but upon seeing the words ”Wuzhou Group” on the helicopters, they shrank back and scurried away.

The Wuzhou Group had been a renowned domestic enterprise before the Global Awakening. After the Global Awakening, it rose rapidly, producing many Awakened.

The Zhou Family behind the Wuzhou Group possessed a mysterious bloodline, and many of them went through Bloodline Reversion, becoming extremely powerful as a result.

More importantly, there were rumors that one of the Five Supremes, the Winged Celestial God, had a close relationship with the Wuzhou Group.

Soon, the helicopters landed steadily, and several figures alighted.

Three people stood at the helm of the group—two young women and a young man, all looking to be around twenty years old. The two women resembled each other a lot; clearly, they were sisters.

The elder sister was clearly more striking than the younger sister. Despite her simple outfit, her slender figure, long, flowing hair, and exquisite features made her stand out.

Her cool temperament was particularly noteworthy as well, as she gave off the same demeanor as an immortal fairy who had descended from the heavens, making her feel unapproachable.

After alighting from the helicopter, she looked at the city gate. She seemed to have spotted Lu Yuan’s back among the crowd, causing her to stop and frown.

”Yunqiong, what’s wrong?” The young man walked over, slightly puzzled.

The young man looked extraordinary with sharp eyebrows, bright eyes, fair skin, and a calm and unflinching demeanor. He also exuded a dignified air of superiority.

It was inconceivable that such demeanor and temperament belonged to a young man who looked to be just around twenty years old. To make matters even more shocking, a closer look at him would reveal that his pupils were golden!

”Nothing. I thought I saw someone familiar. I thought I saw a classmate from university, but I’m not sure,” Zhou Yunqiong said. She looked at the crowd again but couldn’t find the familiar figure.

”A classmate?” The young man smiled upon hearing that. ”So just a civilian then? Is he really worthy of your attention?”

The young man’s tone of voice was steady as he spoke neither hurriedly nor slowly; his voice also contained a tinge of his absolute confidence.

”Maybe I was just seeing things.” Zhou Yunqiong shook her head, thinking that she was mistaken. There was no helping it; Lu Yuan had fused with multiple divine artifacts, after all. In other words, his temperament and all aspects of his being had improved greatly.

It would be hard to recognize him, unless he were standing in front of her.

Zhou Yunqiong said no more and walked back into the helicopter. They were here for a brief stop to observe Chang’an’s ongoing construction of the walls up close and to get some fresh air as well.

Unbeknownst to Zhou Yunqiong, her actions made the young man frown. Zhou Yunqiong had always maintained a calm and indifferent demeanor, but her emotions had fluctuated just now.

The young man couldn’t just ignore it. He turned and looked at the other woman beside him, asking, ”Biqiong, do you remember anyone remarkable among your sister’s classmates from university?”

The other woman was Zhou Biqiong, and she was Zhou Yunqiong’s younger sister. She was dressed in a jade-green dress and was also quite beautiful, but her temperament was different, as she was giving off an arrogant air.

Upon hearing the young man’s words, she immediately answered, ”How could that be? My sister’s classmates are just ordinary people who are not worthy of any attention.

”But...” Zhou Biqiong trailed off, seemingly recalling something. ”I remember my sister mentioning a name to me before... I think it was Lu Yuan?”

”Lu Yuan?”

”Yeah.”

After hearing that, the young man’s eyes narrowed into slits. ”I don’t like him!”
