Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Back in the room, Chen Song stared at his bank balance on his mobile banking app. He couldn’t help but zone out. Even up till this very second, he couldn’t believe it.

It took just one sentence, and Lu Yuan transferred the money just like that?

”What are you doing? Let’s go over to sing,” Li Hansheng came over to urge everyone to gather. ”Where’s Lu Yuan?”

Only then did Chen Song snap out of his daze. He explained what had just happened and his voice stammered due to his emotions.

”What are you thinking about? You think someone can just throw five hundred grand just like that?” Li Hansheng remarked. He was evidently sour that Lu Yuan had stolen his spotlight and wanted to warn Chen Song to stay cautious. ”Maybe he’s just messing with you. Don’t be so gullible to believe him.”

”No, I don’t think Lu Yuan’s lying. Because he really transferred three hundred thousand to me as a down payment.”

The moment the words left Chen Song’s mouth, Li Hansheng froze in his spot.

Three hundred thousand. That was the price of his BMW parked outside...

At the same time, Zhou Yunqiong had also witnessed the scene. However, her gaze followed Lu Yuan and the direction where he had left. A pensive expression surfaced on her visage.

At the hotel entrance.

As soon as Lu Yuan stepped out of the doors, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He saw two message notifications, each from a different person.

Manager Zhang (Rongsheng): Hi Mr. Lu. The contract for the farm you purchased has been finalized.

Lawyer Wang: Mr. Lu, Mount Hulong has accepted your donation of ten million. They would like to invite you to visit when possible and also select the location of your private residence as a gesture of thanks.

So it’s all done, huh.

Reading both messages, a smile graced Lu Yuan’s lips. Though it hadn’t been an entirely smooth process, at least the results spoke for themselves.

Without much further thought, he headed toward the parking lot. But before he could get far, an icy voice called out from behind him.

”Lu Yuan.”

Lu Yuan turned around. Zhou Yunqiong had come out and behind her was the man she addressed as Uncle Zuo.

”What’s the matter?” Lu Yuan halted in his steps. He didn’t ignore her outright. After all, this woman was anything but ordinary.

”It’s nothing,” Zhou Yunqiong answered as she took another step forward and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.

She was just so beautiful that the simple gesture drew the attention of passersby. No matter where she went, she turned heads. But with Uncle Zuo standing right next to her, his presence was enough to crush any bold thoughts of approaching her.

However, Zhou Yunqiong paid no attention to the gazes. In a gentle tone, she said, ”It’s been a year since we graduated. You’ve changed quite a lot.”

”You too,” Lu Yuan replied indifferently, ”Back then, you would never talk to me first.”

Zhou Yunqiong’s expression cracked slightly. But soon enough, a smile returned on her visage. ”Indeed.”

For Zhou Yunqiong, she had been the center of attention from the moment of her birth. No one would ever dare to ignore her words or her emotions. Even her parents treated her like a precious gem.

And she enjoyed that feeling, from her younger days up till this day.

In her world, it was natural that she could disregard others but no one was supposed to disregard her.

Because of that, Lu Yuan’s attitude didn’t sit well with her today. Back in college, he had cared for her so much. So, she eventually decided to follow him out, to see if this was his true attitude or was he just playing hard to get.

”If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going,” Lu Yuan said matter-of-factly. He could roughly sense her intentions but had no interest in playing along.

Zhou Yunqiong couldn’t help but frown at those words. However, she was quick to hide her emotions and she said, ”Actually, I always knew your family was wealthy, or rather exceptionally wealthy. I didn’t say yes to your confession back then because I didn’t think we were from the same world.”

At this moment, Zhou Yunqiong was clearly eager to reclaim her influence over Lu Yuan and took the initiative to bring up their college days.

Of course, she clearly knew of Lu Yuan’s background long ago. Or to be more accurate, what he did couldn’t be hidden from the Wuzhou Group backing her.

”Is that all? Can I leave now?” Lu Yuan asked, his voice cold and lack of any emotions. He really didn’t want to entertain idle chatter. There was nothing left to say too.

After the global awakening, he had struggled at the bottom of the world hierarchy for ten years. He had gone through so many harsh encounters that emotions like these had long since faded into dust.

He turned around and was ready to leave when Zhou Yunqiong called out, ”Lu Yuan!”

Zhou Yunqiong could no longer contain her emotions and said, ”I just wanted to tell you this. Live your life well in the days to come. There will be many changes in the future. Everything will become foreign. The world will soon become unrecogniz—”

”Miss.”

Before Zhou Yunqiong could say more, Uncle Zou took a step forward and shook his head slightly.

As for Lu Yuan, he didn’t stop. He continued walking toward his car. However, he had heard every single word she said.

Seems like some people already know that the global awakening is happening soon. The Zhou family is one of them.

Which means...these people have been preparing in the shadows for a long time now and are amassing power all the while.

Lu Yuan’s mind raced with thoughts. He had gained many insights from those few words earlier.

The Zhou family and the Wuzhou Group behind it were extremely mysterious. In his past life, he had merely thought of them as a powerful conglomerate. But after the global awakening, the Wuzhou Group had risen at an unbelievable pace. Even the Zhou family itself had produced one formidable figure after another. Their name were feared by the world and their power unfathomable.

He had once believed that the Zhou family’s achievements were all thanks to the Wuzhou Group’s resources. But now, it seemed that there was more to it. Otherwise, Zhou Yunqiong wouldn’t have said what she did just now.

Another suspicion began to take root in Lu Yuan’s heart. There were probably many mysterious forces like the Zhous within the country or even worldwide.

Of course, Lu Yuan felt no fear or apprehension toward any of them. Because he had the greatest edge over everyone else. He knew the future. He knew exactly the events that would happen.

Where rare treasures would appear.

Where fortunes could be made.

Where destiny would bloom.

Lu Yuan knew them all. As long as he seized those opportunities...

The Zhou family?

The powerful factions?

None of them scared him. He could stand confident and face them all!

Without another word, Lu Yuan boarded his G-wagon and drove away.

”Miss, you’ve said too much just now,” Uncle Zou couldn’t help but remark with a note of helplessness in his voice.

”I lost control,” Zhou Yunqiong admitted with a nod. She took a deep breath to calm herself down. The next moment, the warm smile faded from her countenance and was replaced by her usual aloofness. Like before, the icy aura she radiated naturally kept people at a distance.

”Miss, I still don’t really understand. Why would you bother to attend this gathering? So what if all of you were classmates? You’re different from them. Your bloodline is the purest the Zhou family has seen in generations. When the time comes, you will become the destined one.”

Uncle Zou paused for a moment and chose his words carefully before continuing, ”As for those people in the hotel, it remains to be seen if they can even survive what’s coming. And even if they do survive, the gap between you and them will only grow wider and beyond imagination.”

The arrogance in Uncle Zou’s voice was unmistakable.

”Yes, of course I know all that,” Zhou Yunqiong replied with a faint smile.

She then extended a hand. Under the sunlight, her fair skin shimmered with a faint golden hue, looking ethereal.

But as soon as she drew her arm back, the glow vanished as if it had never existed. She turned her head and glanced at the hotel.

”I’m just feeling a bit bored lately,” she said softly.

Uncle Zuo let out a chuckle. Just then his phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen for the message preview and his expression shifted slightly.

”Miss, the parcels of land that Master has tasked you to acquire, one of them has already been bought by someone else.”

”Oh?” Zhou Yunqiong was surprised. ”Which piece of land?”

”The farm in the outskirts of Zhouwu City.”
