Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Silence!

There was complete and utter silence!

The Monohorn Giant Wolf King was dead, and not even its bones remained. It hadn’t even lasted a single breath before it exploded into a bloody mist, leaving not even a single trace behind.

Everyone stared blankly in disbelief, and their eyes were filled with horror. The attack they had witnessed just now was so powerful that it was way beyond their imagination. Could human beings truly wield such power?

The mutated beasts around them fell silent, staring dumbly at where their leader once stood. Their souls trembled involuntarily upon recalling the might of that terrifying arrow shrouded in lightning.

Zhu Qingyu and the others turned to find that young man standing proudly atop the same building. His figure was surrounded by lightning, making him look like a god who had descended to earth.

Who exactly was he? After the Global Awakening, they had never heard of someone like him.

Lu Yuan frowned slightly. ”That was too strong; not even a scrap of flesh is left.”

It was clear that he was still a bit too strong. If he had known, he wouldn’t have added even a bit of thunder. Shaking his head, he decided not to dwell on it any further.

He swept his gaze across the mutated beasts around him.

Rumble!

Rumbling noises echoed as a terrifying aura emanated from within him. The aura was both domineering and terrifying. Obviously, he was trying to intimidate the mutated beasts.

As soon as the aura swept across them, the mutated beasts decisively turned tail and ran away. They escaped faster than they arrived here. In less than a minute, every single mutated beast had disappeared into the forest.

The attacker was just too terrifying. If they were to stay, they would die.

Mutated beasts possessed a certain level of intelligence. Their leader was dead, so what were they supposed to do? Die? Of course, it was better to leave, and they did just that, fleeing in a hurry.

Lu Yuan withdrew his aura upon confirming the mutated beasts’ retreat.

Without the Giant Wolf King, a beast tide would never form here again. In other words, this region would be very safe for the foreseeable future.

Crisis over; time to leave, Lu Yuan thought. He put away the Heavenquake Bow, and with a single leap, he disappeared into the darkness.

Lu Yuan knew that his display of power would leave a shocking impression on the Aurora Academy’s teachers, students, and Zhu Qingyu. However, he had no intention of making contact with them for now, as there would be plenty of time to do so in the future.

What mattered was that everything he needed to do was done. Now, he just had to head to Chang’an. The opening of the Mausoleum in Mount Li was drawing near, and he absolutely couldn’t miss it.

”Professor Zhao... he has already left,” Zhu Qingyu said. Then, she looked into the distance, murmuring, ”And the beast tide is over.”

”Yes, it’s over. One person, one arrow; it ended in less than a minute from start to finish,” Zhao Wuji remarked, looking bewildered. He couldn’t help but wonder if he was dreaming.

It couldn’t be helped. What happened just now was simply too absurd that it bordered on fantasy. The mutated beast that they couldn’t stop, even at the cost of their life, was killed with just that one arrow.

The Giant Wolf King was a mutated beast teetering on the edge of the Awakened Realm, and it was a powerful existence that had driven everyone to despair.

And what happened to it? It was obliterated, transformed into a bloody mist.

”Did any of you manage to take a good look at his face?” Zhao Wuji asked, coming to his senses.

Regardless of what happened, the young man’s strength was simply inconceivable. Moreover, they confirmed that he was a human being, and if someone like him became a part of the academy or became one of its helpers, he would certainly be a tremendous help.

Unfortunately, the young man had already left by the time Zhao Wuji came to his senses. If he wanted to find that young man, then the only way he could do so was to track him down using his appearance and contact him afterward.

Qin Lan and the others exchanged glances before shaking their heads. ”No...”

The lightning was too dazzling, and the young man’s aura was too formidable for him to stare at him for long. In other words, they were too weak to take a good look at him. The only thing they could confirm was that he had to have evolved to a terrifying degree.

Zhao Wuji was speechless, but there was no helping it. If the other party truly didn’t want them to know his identity, everyone present was powerless to do anything about that. However, he couldn’t help but feel regretful at the fact that he missed making contact with such a powerful being.

”Forget it, let’s just go and calm the people first.”

The beast tide crisis was resolved, but the majority of the people still had no idea that the crisis was over.

Zhao Wuji consumed some medicine, and then he treated the students and teachers before entering the city to assuage the people’s fear alongside Zhu Qingyu and the others.

Soon, the reinforcements finally arrived, along with several vice deans from Aurora Academy’s branch in Chang’an. After learning about the beast tide, they moved forward at full throttle, bringing vehicles and various powerful weapons with them.

They even brought an attack helicopter with them. When they arrived at Qingyang City, however, they were baffled. Where was the beast tide? They couldn’t even see the shadow of a single mutated beast.

Of course, the destruction told the vice deans that the city had indeed suffered a beast tide. But for reasons unknown, it ended quickly, which puzzled them greatly.

Before long, Zhao Wuji and the others met up with the reinforcements, and the vice deans finally obtained an answer to their baffling question.

Upon hearing that a powerful Awakened had killed the Giant Wolf King with one arrow and intimidated the beast tide into receding, the vice deans were shocked once again.

Though they hadn’t witnessed it personally, they could still imagine the scene through the vivid descriptions. Soon, they became certain that the young man had to have been a true powerhouse.

Hence, the vice deans decided to use all their resources to find a way to make contact with that young man. Setting aside his level of strength, just the fact that he saved so many people made it worth the effort.

They also decided to publicize the truth online, showing goodwill to the mysterious young man to see if there would be any clues to his identity.

Of course, they knew that it wouldn’t be effective, but they still had to try.

Under the Aurora Academy’s orders, the news about how Qingyang City had suffered a beast tide spread like wildfire online.

Since the Global Awakening, beast tides became frequent. At first, people paid close attention to such news, as no one knew when it would be their city’s turn to suffer such a disaster.

As time went on, however, people began to get used to such news. The five supercities were also under construction, and they paid more attention to any news related to those cities, which meant news concerning beast tides eventually became unimportant in the eyes of the people.

Every single beast tide would always result in overwhelmingly large casualties and serious damage to infrastructures, but the beast tide on Qingyang City was different. The Aurora Academy claimed that a mysterious figure had made a move at the critical juncture, killing the beast king with one arrow, saving the lives of countless citizens.

The news garnered the attention of everyone, eliciting many different speculations about the mysterious figure’s identity.

The incident also made people realize that absolute strength was necessary to survive in the new era. With that in mind, more and more people began trying various methods in hopes of stepping foot onto the path of evolution.

During the early stages of the Global Awakening, there were many spiritual fruits and rare herbs. Quite a few people were lucky enough to obtain them, becoming one of the Awakened.

More and more people awakened to transcendent powers, increasing the number of Awakened, but the average strength of the Awakened remained quite low.

...

Beast Tide on Qingyang City! The Aurora Academy’s teachers and students fought fearlessly against the beast tide’s king. At the critical moment, a mysterious figure made a move, killing the beast king and saving hundreds of thousands of civilians...

Several days later, on a barren mountain somewhere, Lu Yuan couldn’t help but smile at the news article on his phone. He knew that his arrow that day would leave a deep impression on the Aurora Academy. He just hadn’t expected that they would actually choose to publicize the matter.

Were they trying to attract his attention?

Shaking his head, Lu Yuan didn’t think about it any further. He knew that the Aurora Academy represented the government, and the government had been constantly recruiting powerful Awakened to establish a foothold in the new era.

However, he had no interest in becoming one of them, so he decided to ignore their attempts to attract his attention.

Lu Yuan put down his phone and oriented himself before moving forward at full speed.
