Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 47. Looming Despair? Lightning Arrow, the Beast King’s Fall! (2)

These people’s foundations were already deep prior to the awakening. Once their ancestral bloodlines were unleashed, they would become extremely powerful.

Some of them would also inherit ancient martial arts, transforming into the dragons of the new era, like that old Celestial Master from Mount Hulong.

Of course, this wasn’t the time to consider such things. Before anything else, he needed to resolve the crisis.

Lu Yuan looked up and stared at the blue Monohorn Giant Wolf King.

He had been observing the blue Monohorn Giant Wolf King for quite a while now, so how could he not understand the reason why it was here? It had to be because he slew that red Giant Wolf, eliciting the blue Giant Wolf’s rage.

As a result, it gathered a beast tide and charged at a human city to vent its anger by massacring people.

”I didn’t expect that my unintentional actions could lead to something like this. I guess I have to be ruthless to ensure that this will never happen again.” Lu Yuan rubbed his nose. He knew that even if he had done nothing at the time, the beast tide would still proceed, but he still felt that he was somewhat at fault here.

That being the case, how could he not act?

”Heavenquake!” he called out.

An ancient bow with mysterious patterns all over it appeared.

It looked extraordinary; the sun and moon seemed to be carved on both ends of its body, and it was emanating wisps of light. Lu Yuan grabbed it and fixed his eyes on the blue Giant Wolf King in the distance.

He decided not to make a move personally, as he wanted to test the Heavenquake Bow’s power. He wanted to have a general understanding of its strength, as he was going to use it in the future.

Of course. Even against a Giant Wolf King teetering on the edge of the Awakened Realm, using the Heavenquake Bow still felt like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

”Hmm, I must be careful not to use my full strength,” Lu Yuan said, reminding himself. If he were to use his full strength, the resulting attack would be too powerful. He could end up injuring those people from the Aurora Academy.

Having made up his mind, he gripped the bow with his left hand and pulled the bowstring with his right. Then, he drew the bowstring.

Swoosh!

The energy of heaven and earth immediately converged on the bow, blooming into wisps of radiant light. These luminous wisps overlapped until they transformed into a golden arrow.

When drawn, the Heavenquake Bow would draw the energy of heaven and earth to form an arrow. The archer’s realm would determine the arrow’s power; the stronger the archer, the more powerful the arrow would become.

As soon as the arrow was formed, a powerful aura spread from Lu Yuan.

The ruined building beneath his feet fractured with a loud crack.

Perfect, let me add a sprinkle of thunder. The arrow’s penetration strength will become even stronger that way, ensuring a one shot, one kill, Lu Yuan thought. He decided to use less than twenty percent of his strength, which would make things a bit safer.

With a mere will on his end, the Jade Emperor’s Divine Thunder Art was activated!

Rumble!

A different aura wafted from him, and the aura carried with it the power of destruction. When it came to offensive and burst power, thunder was considered unparalleled.

Lu Yuan added a hint of the Divine Thunder Art’s power into the golden arrow.

Thunder rumbled in the sky, and storm clouds gathered. Both heaven and the earth seemed to be changing at this time. However, Zhao Wuji, Zhu Qingyu, and the others down below remained oblivious to such changes.

They had all their attention on that blue Giant Wolf King. They couldn’t divert their attention elsewhere, even if they wanted to. At this moment, everyone had just resolved to face death, stepping forward one by one.

”ROAAAAR!”the Giant Wolf King roared, seemingly mocking them. In its eyes, these humans were practically no different from ants, yet they were overestimating themselves by blocking its path.

They were courting death, so why not grant their wish?

The Giant Wolf King crouched slightly, and its blue fur emanated wisps of blue light gathered at the one and only horn sticking out of its head.

Buzz!

The blue horn, acting like a heavenly sword, emanated a radiant light. Anyone could see that an extremely powerful energy was brewing within the horn.

”It’s gone mad! It’s over!” Zhao Wuji cried out in alarm as his expression changed drastically at the sight.

This is bad, Zhao Wuji thought. The next attack was going to be the Giant Wolf King’s most powerful attack. If it landed, the destructive power would ensure that no one present could survive.

It wasn’t just him; Zhu Qingyu and the others could feel it as well. The surging power within that horn made their hearts skip a beat. Immediately afterward, everyone could feel Death staring at them, instilling terror in their hearts.

Some of them turned pale, while some started trembling ever so slightly. No one was unafraid of death; courage allowed them to overcome their fear.

However, in the face of Death itself, one’s instinct to survive would kick in, making them feel dread.

Could it be that... I’m about to die? Everyone present thought the same. Yet, they didn’t retreat. Instead, they stepped forward with determination.

”ROAAAAR!” the Giant Wolf King roared once again. Feeling insulted, it prepared to strike, but—

Rumble!

A deafening thunder reverberated just as it was about to make a move.

Zhu Qingyu and the others didn’t feel anything in particular, but the blue Monohorn Giant Wolf King shuddered violently all of a sudden, and its fur stood on end. Its very soul was trembling as if a fearsome existence capable of threatening its life had locked onto it.

Just then, it turned to look somewhere and fear appeared in its eyes.

What was happening? How come the Giant Wolf King hadn’t attacked us yet?

Zhu Qingyu and the others were puzzled by the sight. Just moments ago, they were determined to die just to take the brunt of the Giant Wolf King’s ultimate attack.

Inexplicably, the Giant Wolf King had stopped moving instead of attacking them.

Soon, everyone discovered the Giant Wolf King’s fearful eyes.

What was it? What made even this beast king, teetering on the edge of the Awakened Realm, feel afraid?

They followed its gaze and saw a young man standing on a ruined building in the distance. He was holding a bow, and violent bursts of energy billowed around him. Above his head, thunder roared as dozens of lightning bolts interweaved together.

The radiant light from the lightning bolts was too bright, making it impossible for them to take a good look at the young man’s face. The only thing they could determine was that he was a young man, nothing else.

”S-such terrifying power...” Zhao Wuji’s eyes widened in disbelief. The aura emanating from that young man was so terrifying that it was beyond his understanding.

Who was it? Everyone asked themselves. Of course, no one answered them.

Meanwhile, the Giant Wolf King trembled and turned around after sensing that terrible power. It wanted to leave and return to the forest. That young man was just too terrifying; it was absolutely not his match.

It had to leave, or it was certainly going to die!

”Wanna leave? Too late.” Lu Yuan holding the Heavenquake Bow smiled. Then, he narrowed his eyes as he pulled the bowstring to its limits and let go of it.

Rumble!

A massive lightning bolt descended, illuminating the heavens. At the same time, the arrow covered in lightning shattered the sound barrier and appeared before the Giant Wolf King in the proverbial blink of an eye.

The arrow pierced the Giant Wolf King’s horn, which it prided itself on.

A deafening boom reverberated.

Zhu Qingyu, Zhao Wuji, and the others watched as the Giant Wolf King, which left them powerless and in despair, transformed into a bloody mist that pervaded the skies.

The arrow had obliterated its head, and the thunder energy that followed annihilated its towering physique, erasing its existence.

The so-called beast king of this region, the Monohorn Giant Wolf King... was killed instantly by just one arrow!
