Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1022: Chapter 1022: Madam Ruan and Her Party Have Returned

Lu Dasong turned over and said, “What kind of good things are you thinking about? Why would we buy a house when we’re doing fine as it is? We’re not working in the county town. Forget it, go to sleep. There’s still stuff to do tomorrow.”

Not long after saying that, he started snoring.

Madam Li called out to him a few times but failed to wake him; she nearly spat out a mouthful of blood in frustration. “It’s because of your laid-back and uncompetitive nature that Sanzhu and his wife end up taking advantage. How did I end up marrying you?”

However, what she didn’t know was that at the same time, Madam Liang was also talking to Lu Sanzhu about them.

“The children’s father, tell me, why do you think Yu asked Daniu to manage the manor and not you?”

Lu Sanzhu was still feeling excited. As soon as he came back from work today, he found out the house had been bought.

He had even gone to take a look. That house was excellent, and he really liked it. He wandered around inside and out, still feeling unsatisfied, wishing he could move the bedding and furniture over and start living there tonight.

It was already past 9 p.m., but he was still wide awake.

When he heard Madam Liang’s question, Lu Sanzhu was momentarily stunned. “What do you mean?”

Madam Liang sat up abruptly. “Sister-in-law might have said some biting words today to vent her anger at me, but she wasn’t entirely wrong. Working with Yu means you won’t be treated unfairly. Now that Daniu is helping manage the manor, who knows, he might be earning ten taels of silver a month—much more than you do.”

Lu Sanzhu felt a bit envious upon hearing that, then furrowed his brow. “Are you suggesting I go too?”

Madam Liang nodded repeatedly. “Exactly, exactly. Think about it. You’re working in the peach forest now and have experience. Later, if you work in her sunflower garden, wouldn’t it be about the same thing? If you become a steward under Yu, you won’t fare badly in the future.”

To her surprise, Lu Sanzhu shook his head repeatedly. “I’m not going.”

“Why not?”

“Working with Yu, do you think I’d dare slack off?” Lu Sanzhu said, feeling justified. “By then, wouldn’t I just end up working like an ox or a horse, with hardly even time to eat?”

There are hundreds of acres of land out there. If even one acre runs into trouble, he’d be scared to death.

Madam Liang glared at him. “Look at how unambitious you are.”

“Anyway, I’m not doing it. I’m fine right now, working in the peach forest and earning wages. When I have some free time, I can help Yu out a little here and there, and she’ll give me some money. It’s like making extra big cash on the side.”

That way, it’s both easy and comfortable. Why would he bring trouble upon himself?

Lu Sanzhu finished speaking and lay down to sleep.

Madam Liang was so angry she jabbed him with her foot twice, but he didn’t respond, so she had no choice but to lie down and sleep as well.

The two households each had their own concerns but didn’t dare to utter a word in front of Shu Yu.

Shu Yu found it rather strange. Could it be that her longstanding influence had grown so strong that her eldest aunt and third aunt only dared to quarrel privately behind her back?

Still, since they didn’t come to her, she was more than happy to enjoy the peace.

She spent two days helping to watch over the shop, initially thinking that at the latest, Madam Ruan and the others would return by the third day.

But who would have expected that it wasn’t until the evening of the fourth day, just before the city gate closed, that they finally arrived at the entrance to the Liufang Alley home.

Ah Ning was the first to hear the commotion and excitedly ran to open the courtyard gate.

Sure enough, she saw a carriage parked outside. What piqued her curiosity was that there seemed to be a mule carriage following behind.

Before she could ask, Madam Ruan and Shuyou got out of the carriage.

Ah Ning ran forward joyfully. “Mother, Big Sister, you’re finally back!”

Shu Yu also came over. With one glance, she saw her mother and big sister, as well as Zhao Xi, but she didn’t see Meng Yunzheng.

Instead, there was movement from the mule carriage behind them, and a young woman stepped out.

The young woman carried herself with grace and poise, smiling lightly at Shu Yu and the Lu family members who followed her out.
